    Sir I'm currently work in socket weldings pipelines 3/4 inch ... Our criteria is 1.6 mm to 2.5 as per our client ... We using readymade asme approved gap ring as 2.4mm but even though after welding we facing problem the gap comes as 1mm or 2.5 above sometimes ... How I can overcome this issue ... ???

      Hi the code says that during fitup have to be maintain the gap but after welding Heat input it will get 1.5 to 2 max it s accepted / the scenario is not touched both face/ if after welding u not find gap it will create crack in future during operation
