I don't think many people can say, "When I was 15 years old, I interviewed Louis Armstrong wearing boxers."
Live
Right on!!!😂😂😂
only 2 apparently
That is incredible. A legend in his own time, shows so much respect to kids, and gives them his time. A constant professional, even legends still have to practice, such class.
+T G Dub Imagine, how fucking awesome it is to have interviewed Louis Armstrong... those guys are epic.
Louis was a kind man who was respectful and to the point were he gave these kids time to interview him while actual qualified reporters were willing to do the same.
Louis Armstrong is just the most gentlemanly of men. Think about all the segregation and racism he faced growing up, and here he is holding a happy, relaxed interview with two white young kids. He was wise enough to recognize that one day, people wouldn't be judged by color, and he just wanted to make two kids day.
What a solid solid dude.
Indeed
Oh wow Steve was a bit ahead of the politically correct curve here 7 years ago lol
@@lonelydoraiba Yeah, except now we’re regressing inversely, if anything.
shut up with your editorial writing
@@MightyYoungSir Lol or maybe just don’t read the comment? Hahaha
I always wondered about his practice habits because I know of the discipline it requires to play like he did and yet he always seemed so care-free.
Barry Machiavellian lol me too- and he taped all sorts of things so it’s possible he left a reel of a practice session.
This is wonderful!! Michael and James donated a CD copy of he complete interview to the Louis Armstrong House Museum back in 2003. We're so happy to see what "Blank on Blank" has done with it! (And even happier to see the reaction!) If anyone wants to hear the complete interview--and thousands of others--please visit our Archives at Queens College. Thanks again for what you've done for ol' Pops!
You were soooooooo lucky back then.....
3:01 “You got to be good or bad as the devil!” -Louis Armstrong
How polite these kids were ? It feels like they were admiring his great talent and well, no wonder why. ❤️
So generous and thoughtful of him to give time to a couple of kids over sensational reporters!
Aw, that kid was so nice at the end. :) Cool animation and interview.
You gotta love good old Satchmo!
I come back and watch this video anytime I need some comfort. The way Louis Armstrong so kindly and patiently spoke to these kids always warms my heart. There will never be another Louis Armstrong. ❤️❤️
People often have an illusion thought when they saw talented and successful musician, that they have ''talented'' characteristic for music or art. but they don't know behind closed door,is dedication of practicing , grinding , constant-learning and discipline.
Hey, this interview was on my birthday, but 23 years before I was born.
Oh my gosh . . . . His voice!
Is God in his voice?
Louis loved to smoke weed, every day, and he was a strong advocate of herb.
I smoke for 34 years now, I started when I was 14, and I hope I smoke til the day I die!
I just love it, it makes me happy, and you get never bored, ever. ;)
And when you listen to, or make music, it's ten times enhanced, and adds more colour to it all.
Oh, but his voice... it's so raw and unique and I love it so much!!
Reminds of the interview that teenager did with John Lennon. You gotta love when stars give time to young reporters.
kind of amazing hearing their voices now, transformed to that many years ago. no way, Louis could have known that interview would be around longer than any other possible interviews, and so respectful to young kids. respect
Amazing interview. Louis was a great man.
How have I never heard this before? if I were ever in a room with Louis Armstrong, I don’t think I’d even be able to talk; It would just be too much for my brain to handle. Also, New Trier is my alma mater, class of ‘01
His dedication makes me feel guilty, I don't draw every day, I should. I need to get better.
Great music choices for this. I look forward to everyone of these.
Simply some of the best content ever made under PBS, and that says a lot. Thank you!
I absolutely love this. Thank you so much for posting - so inspiring. That voice! What a great interview.
I love the fact that he’d rather talk to a couple of kids than the usual grown up reporters.
That voice... What a voice.
you cant help but be happy when you see him play. What a great guy to spend such time with kids. Wonderful job you guys have done.
One of the greatest humans of all time, God fucking bless
Just his speaking voice was magic!
What a Wonderful world....Louis Armstrong
Amazing story, interview & drawings, the whole thing is just awesome ! Thanks !
This series is so marvelous; I look forward to each and every one. As Louis said, you have to 'Keep Up The Chops!'
A brilliant man
Beautiful.... thank you for the story
This has become my all-time fav Blank ON Blank episode -- this tape ought to be put in the Smithsonian 'cuz it's an American treasure!
Thank you for the vid!!
This is beyond belief! What an experience! Wow!
Mr Armstrong has always been one of my heroes. Thanks!
Wonderfully illustrated and presented. LOVE IT!
the magic of old times ...
What a treat this is! The Maestro! Thankyou. (So pleased to be told that he wore boxers!!)
Another great episode! Please keep up the great work!
So nicely, hilariously delivered. Great man he was, too.
Brilliant interview and story
This is wonderful & special stuff, thank you! Not only is the graphic animation great but, the recorded voice of pops is new & special. Sure its the same story as recorded elsewhere but there's some great quotes too. ...." or bad as the devil" (which he never was). At the end, Louis called the kid "daddy" ! GREAT stuff ..... !!!
what a brilliant idea! I love it!
Nice little piece. I can't help pointing out, though, that the animator screwed-up: the instrument is a cornet. I don't know how one would play a coronet.
a cornet is just a trumpet with a mute used.
Sherry Spectre sadly no, check out some ‘what’s the difference’ vids.
That's awesome that he spent so much time and showed them so much respect even though they where just kids!
"Satchmo" always puts me in a good mood!!
This one is amazing. I remember posting messages to put more. And wow. On my birthday this was posted. Began with my fav song Mack the knife. Just amazing. My favorite Chanel on you tube.
Amazing - glad I found this 🔥
wait, this interview was on my birthday (of course, I wasn't born that day). This
is epic
This is great, good job
Wonderful
Happy birthday, Satchmo!
Mr Armstrong was too cool and smooth lol had to hit him the lingo from back then “ok daddy” 😂
That's amazing!! Wish I could've had that opportunity 😂
My favorite CZcams channel.

What a Beautiful man.
This is really creative!
Well that was nice!.
I love these videos...you took the idea of "I met the walrus." and really suceeded!
very cool
4:41 If the guy talking (sorry I don’t know your name) sees this, don’t feel bad to not have asked «better» questions, it was great and he talked about interesting things ! For me one of the best male voices of all time.
ooooo awesome
Big star takes time out to interview by some teenagers. Now THAT'S a real roll model
charming
Real talent
Holy shit he talks like that.
What an amazing voice.
To be that young and get to talk to a music icon , now you can look back and say dam that was something
please do one on aaliyah! i know she didnt do alot of interviews but there has to be something somewhere
Bless that man's soul, and hope the devil thought it too great to take
Can you guys please do some kind of a Sublime interview?
☺
2:55 well you kids must’ve been good cos he tolerated you too! 😉 thanks! Oh, and I know a lot of performers didn’t wear trousers till the last moment before a performance, some also no jacket, to avoid creases for one thing. But no shirt is new to me 😂
What is the full adddress of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, please.
Do Frank Sinatra next!
I wish the PBS would spell "cornet" correctly... 😉
Yup. We are aware it was misspelled. What's done is done. Thanks for watching.
Who gave thumbs down?
I just came here to see if he sounds like he gargled razerblades when he speaks as well as sings
Update: He does, and its awesome

Louis Armstrong was the only OG.
Boxers.
The other people talked much more than Louis, they didn't let him talk.
back when music meant expressing yourself through playing your instrument.
I loved to see one on Aaliyah =)
to whoever drew this, it's cornet, not coronet.
These are wonderful, but would appreciate some with women as well!
À quand avec Sinatra
summernight was very hot
