Amanda Somerville has been Simone's vocal coach, among many other projects as composer, producer, vocalist, director, even book writer. She has been in projetcts/bands as Avantasia (now touring), Kamelot, After Forever, Edguy, Aina, HDK, Michael Kiske, Docker's Guild, Mob Rules, Virgo, Shaman, Luca Turilli, Serenity, Sebastien, MaYan, PelleK, DesDemon and of course, Trillium, her own band, plus 4 solist albums. Sorry if I forgot to mention other musical project (AH! Amadeus Awad's EON)
this is epic, she should be known more as a lead singer of a band, not just a vocal coach. her voice is amazing and the music is as good as any other typical bands in this genre
I think it shows how she has been a vocal coach to Simone Simons. Even the way they pronounce the words, the technique, is very similar. Her voice sounds like a more mature version of Simone's voice. I remember when she sang with Epica, I had a hard time missing Simone vocally.
discovered Trillium yesterday as first part of the concert of Anneke van giersbergen in Paris...amazing voice and charism on stage, electrizing, good tunes, perfect performance : conquished, a very good surprise...they deserve a far better aknowledgement :-)
... and now she finally has her own band too. It was *about time*. She can sing damn well, and yet she only gets like 3% recognition she deserves. Hope it changes.

I'm really excited about this band. Amanda is a trmendous talent, voice AND writing. She's so technically proficient, while keeping the soul of her solo music (which tends to get lost when singers know a lot of technique)...I've been wanting to hear her do something more Metal focused. And her band is a group of badasses as well. This is awesome.
I don't think anyone recognizes how different her vocal compositions are from most of the other symphonic bands. The closest, in my estimation, is probably Krypteria, and even that is a tenuous comparison. She uses the full capacity of her voice, and brings into the mix a certain--I have to say--R&B or soul element. When they laid this album down she instantly became one of my favorite vocalists--joining the ranks of those who've already been mentioned here, as well as those who haven't.
