I love how the "Behind the scenes" is scripted, storyboarded and filmed. I want to see the behind the scenes for the behind the scenes.
its very boring lol. I can tell you as someone who does this. It can take a long time, so there are many boring parts. You would have to film for a couple of hours and then maybe edit.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother during the lockdown :)
4:38 her handwriting for the lyrics! gorgeous!
I had no idea it was Peggy Lee this whole time!!! How awesome
The cats hysterical and not really villains. They were just two troublesome kids.
Oh yeah, Peggy Lee was so great. Wonderful lyrics for this and what she did with the cat voices, she really captured a mischievous mood there that enhanced the visuals of those two cats. Terrific harmony.
@@MissDavids siam doesnt exist anymore. its just a really racist and harmful stereotype disney made during the war against asians to portray in particular the japanese as bad. orginally the cats were named nip and tuk, nip as in nippon which translates to japan.
What a talent was Miss Peggy lee - a class act!
People assume this because cats generally played the role of the villain in Walt´s films. But really, I don´t think he was a cat hater. Figaro from Pnnochio, the cat from Peter and the Wolf, and the fact that he did approve the Aristocats, a movie all about cats, show that he did not hate cats. Maybe he just thought that cats made good villains. I love cats and I have to say that cats can make really good bad guys (and good guys too, of course) :)
cats by their natural design are slick and rlegant and calculated. they make for good villaims if you ask me. and here siamese cats are perfect choice because of their fur coloration. black legs and yellow body is easy to exagerate for the animator to get the idea across to the viewer
I remember back the Disney channel used to play vintage footage, I remember this one in particular.
for years, she didn't get any royalties from this song/film. yet here's the documentation for her creative role.
she finally got 2.3million for it . it took awhile but she got it.
it was because of the VHS release. thry didnt think she was eligible for the vhs tapes too.
This was cool to watch. Peggy Lee was pretty and talented.
haha this seems so staged. love it. it's like a movie on it's own
maybe a tiny bit but i think this is for the most part how things went at least back then
Improvisation didn't exist on tv until the mid 90's so it doesn't surprise me at all.
I love this song. It stuck in my head for over 15 years until my friend sang it at work one day and I had to search for the song. Singing : we are Siamese if you please, we are Siamese if you don’t please...
This recording method and the process of making the song is amazing!
Wonderful little snippet of the making of that soundtrack from that very amusing part of the movie. Peggy Lee was quite a talented singer and as mentioned lyricist. The quality of animation when Walt himself was there is far superior to what you see now!
love the song and peggy lee's voice
WOW! Peggy Lee sings so good and she is so pretty!
I NEVER would have guessed that she sang that....I'm still having trouble with it
Awww I miss hand drawn disney animated films :(
Sad knowing that Walt’s team’s masterpiece has turned into a live action remake that took away to art and magic of the animation these animators and actors have done when this movie was being made.
I can’t bring myself to watch any of the remakes. Haven’t watched one yet.
@@oscardog8495 Speakin'a which, you're cancelled too -- GTFO here, we're having good times. Go on now, shoo.
yup. i tried a couple of times to watch it for the sake of the original. quit after 5 mins at max. terrible remake like all the remakes.
@@MrJavaman5 the only one that was good in my opinion is Aladdin, but still wasn't the same with it not being robin williams
I love the teamwork.
Those cats are frickin hysterical.
For me, nothing beats a good ol' smooth female jazzvoice with a bit of attitude
These people were too pure for this world 😢
Peggy lee is amazing! i love Siamese though... Siamese are good cats unlike what they have portrayed in the movie..
I only had one experience with a Siamese cat. He was a beautiful looking cat, but very aggressive and mean. Not a small cat either and very strong.
One of my favorite songs! !!
i like how walt disney documented everything by filming it by filming everything really shows the fun of making a film
Siamese cats were breed by the royal family of Siam.
They were bred, not they were breed. Breed is a noun or a verb. Bred is past tense. (If you please)
@@thinkthensend9228Just don’t care about the grammar, Just talk about the comment. It’s been 9 months.
I love to hear Peggy Lee talk
I don't care if the song is inpolitically correct, its an awesome song, an awesome movie, and the cats are cool
This is so scripted, it's hilarious
Dasaun McClinton ...... yeah, everyone should just talk over each other and stab each other in the back like they do now days. Knucklehead
I KNEW I wasn't crackin'! They changed the song!
Siamese Cat Song is example of earlier electronic music
As a 42 year old adult, I ended up inheriting a Siamese cat, and I keep thinking of this song.
I loooove this this is my favret Disney songs
back when entertainment was entertainment.
6:39 The music was great. I love the ending part of this, that we hear the music that wasn't on the movie and we see Si and Am dance to it.
HAHA...he says "Well their Siamese! How about an Oriental Number! "
5:44 - 5:58 è incredibile come negli anni 50 ci fosse una ricca tecnologia in grado di appassionare tante persone. Noi si pensa che i film di Disney siano fatte così, però è incredibile vedere il lavoro che c'è dietro le quinte.
There is a lot of problems here, but this song is cemented in my head from childhood. Out of context, it’s just about actual Siamese cats!
Sometimes a song about cats is just a song about cats. There’s nothing problematic here. They’re stating they’re Siamese cats from Siam and they’re heavenly perfect creatures who must be worshipped. This applies to my own cats, even though I’d have to change the lyrics to, “I’m a calico if you please, I’m a calico if you don’t please. Current freeloading resident of my human’s home and there is no better feline.”
Lmao 😂 this movie made me love cats 🐈
I'm Love siameses cats, ever. Great work done. 😻😘😍🐈🐶💝💞
As someone who’s had cats all my life I can guarantee that cats can be very mischievous and that’s what I love about them.
I was 5 when the movie was released. We had a kid' s record with the Siamese cats song on one side, and the serenade at the restaurant on the other. We played both sides many times on our "record player".
I love how after he has explained the entire plot, he goes over it AGAIN just for exposition purposes.
Too bad for Miss Peggy Lee. I would've got her autograph!
R.I.P. Peggy Lee
Wicked! Awesome
This is why I named my own Siamese cat Peggy.
wo That's a great piece of history right there..
Fantastic post!
Thank you!
Rare stuff
This video is fascinating!!!!
Greetings from Chile
Whats even more striking about how she recorded the song isnt just the accent but the use of words. Lived in thailand 10 years now and thai english has a very distinct sound and use of grammar...often adding -ing to verbs coupled with out of tense verbs. Amazing for the time period this was produced. The world was a lot bigger place back then....
So awesome!!!!!
5:47 is when she sings
Love the song
This song use to creep me and sis out when we were small XD
Una maravilla poder ver esto. 😍
LOVE HER!
They could have used this song in the remake, they might have to forgo the accents and change the character design, but they still could have used it.
This is how Walt Disney did things! He'd give you a taste so you would go see the movie.
simply classic. peggy lee rules.
This Is So Cool :D She Also Played Peg In This Movie :D
Walt Disney and Peggy Lee are the best!!
Wow.. memories.
Awesome!!! ❤
Wow, this is so amazing to watch. Makes me wish I was born in that time!!!
It'd be cool to have a sort of tourist highlights view yes, but otherwise I'd be bored as hell.
So would you, that's why you're on the internet right now instead of living your life like it's the 1950's. Also I just realized you're a woman, so yeah you definitely don't want to go back in time too far.
great and interesting to know all that they did to make it real
I love how they act like they practice for a long time.
Lol, I remember this song used to freak me out when I was a kid.
"So Peggy and Sonny went to to work..." (4:10)
"Peg, I think it calls for a certain Oriental kind of rhythm" (4:14)
And then he plays a simple 4/4 WESTERN rhythm. Nothing "Oriental" there.
What WAS "Oriental", however, was the use of the fourths in the melody line, later sung in harmony by the two Siamese cats.
Also, just think about how cumbersome was Peggy's attempt to re-record her voice singing two lines (a fourth apart).
And today - there are hundreds of APPs out there that can do the same job for ya! Moreover, there are apps where you only have to record ONE voice and the app will do the rest - as in, what do you need? A third, a fourth a fifth? A CHOIR?? Just name it!
2019 anyone? ♥️
OMFG complete with the gong?! ROFL
cool.
Do you know that Peggy Lee died 10 years ago...YESTERDAY??? In fact, today Heath Ledger died 4 years ago - it's just UNBELIEVABLE!!!
***R.I.P. Walt Disney
R.I.P. Peggy Lee
R.I.P. Heath Ledger...Amen.
"Well, they're Siamese. How 'bout an Oriental number?"
If you said that today, you'd gets a lawsuit for racism!
Fasinating video - a real insight into song writing and it's relationship with the moving image. I wish there was more film available of the making of the Cat sequence. I think the film - 'Cats and Dogs' borrowed the idea with it's Ninja Cat sequence. Can you imagaine how the Diseny artsists must have sweated over the sequence - true craftmanship in songwriting and animation
And the rest is history 🤭🥰
ah, thanks!
peggy lee is way hotter than i remembered her being. Just as talented...
@MrsCamui EXACTLY! I hate how people get upset over racial remarks in these classics without thing about the time period they were created in.
BTW Indian Chief FTW! He is so badass!!!
6:07 did they change that? Also what did she say before the "there are no finer cats than I am" i didnt understand
5:46 if u only want the song
Interesting.
no. The first feature length (about 1 and a half hours long) was Snow White, released in 1937. Disney is explaining that Lady and the Tramp was the first feature length cartoon released in Cinemascope, a widescreen format popular in the 50s and 60s.
agreed
I believe that that was a common thing back then.
This 1955 lady and the tramp is way better than the live action movie 2019
I feel like live-action movies kinda suck compared to the original animated Disney movies.
@@Dehsusksm Siamese cat song sucked in the 2019 live action remake the original cartoon 1955 version is way better than the live action remake
@MrsCamui I' black so im just going to say thats rediculious. They aren't bieng racist. Just listen to the song. They say there from Siam and there the best cats ever If you please or if you don't please.
Great! Where did you you get this?
@QueenoDisney Yeah, I mean I never picked up bad out of the mushroom dance in Fantasia or What Makes the Red Man Red in Peter Pan. I love those scenes. One's really cute and the other is fun and in fact make me feel an amount of respect for Native Americans. The cheif's very presence is that of a repected leader which in turn made me respect the character, even as a kid.
Could you uplode the making of the Howling Song?
Thanks so much for this video, it was so helpful I'm going to feature it in my upcoming video on "Film Reviews: Lady and the Tramp [1955]" on my 2nd channel "Skeleton Keys Production SKP: Film". Check out the rest of my videos for more on the style of Film analysis!
God ,😭😭😭
Snow White was Disney's first full length animated movie, I believe it was in 1938.
I think it's considered rasicm because the people singing it probably weren't Siamese or Scottish so when they talk or sing, they over exaggerate it the stereotypes. By today's standards, it's not politically correct. Then again, it was in the 50s so they weren't as concerned with PC standards as we are. And though I do agree that things should be more PC, this song pretty much rocked!
Actually, not only was she cast of the film, she was also the producer or something.
was in filmed in 1954-1955 where the movie was being made?
@MrsCamui Damn strait you do!
I’m Asian myself, and I’m marveled by Peggy Lee’s amazing ability to carbon-copy the Asian accent. Look, whatever happened back then happened, we can still enjoy art without getting so butt-hurt offended.
Thank you for making a lot of butt hurt white people so happy. Tune in next week for “Robert E. Lee: just a misunderstood dude whose name is on a cool car.”
Racist
