Steve Albini (Pasadena, 22 luglio 1962) è un cantante, chitarrista, produttore discografico, ingegnere del suono e critico musicale statunitense. È stato il front man di band fondamentali come i Big Black, i Rapeman e gli Shellac (questi ultimi ancora in attività). È inoltre il fondatore della compagnia Electrical Audio, che opera con due studi di registrazione a Chicago e negli anni si è imposta come una delle più importanti realtà del rock indipendente. Steve è considerato uno dei "guru" della scena alternativa americana.

He must have been asked about recording Nirvana a thousand times and yet his answers were always gracious without the slightest hint of eyerolling. I enjoyed the way he fleshed out his response with the observations about having mutual acquaintances in the scene, having played the same venues and about being able to immediately identify references to obscure Killdozer records during the sessions.
