      @@ChaatNChat you should check miracle in the desert. It's an hour long documentary made on the making of the film and all the trouble they had to go through. It's available here on this platform. The director got injured. He had to direct from a makeshift bed. Lot of the actors got sick due to the heat. But they kept shooting despite all of it. They shot in some desert area and the place they shot in actually is really dry with no rain. The local villagers were part of the crew as well.

    There is a fascinating real-life story that inspired the film. In 1911, Mohun Bagan Football Club, one of the oldest football clubs in Asia, defeated the British Army’s East Yorkshire Regiment in a match, which is often referred to as a “Lagaan moment” in Indian history. This event was a significant moment in Indian football history and had a profound impact on the country’s freedom movement. The movie is based on a real life event.

    Watched this one in the theatres and it was like a watching a real cricket match in the stadium. Everyone was so charged up even though each one of us knew it was only a movie. Actually the English lead by the dictator Winston Churchill were so brutal in India during colonization that even Adolf Hitler pales in comparison. And the British went about saying that they brought progress to Bharat (India) when actually my country's wealth was what got them here. So beating the English at their game just feels immensely good.

    Josh the reason for ball spinning later and not early in the game is due to the fact that as ball gets old (by playing) it gripps better on surface and hence spin big. At that time no one among elites (not even English who invented this game) knew about this fact, let alone the villagers of Champaner.
    I think the beauty of cricket lies in this fact only that it's such a condition dependent game. I dont see many of modern sports getting impacted this hugly by conditions. 😅😅

    • @rahul2571
      @rahul2571 Před měsícem +2

      Lol 😂 one side shiny , other side rough is required for reverse swing.
      For spin, the pitch should have cracks and the ball should be old.
      On day 2 after lunch, the ball was old old and the pitch developed some cracks due to constant play on it and sun beating down on it

  • @rishirajsharma5337
    @rishirajsharma5337 Před měsícem +4

    Spinning is done when the ball is old new ball is hard and difficult to spin.
    India have spinning pitches because of soil conditions here where as Australia have concrete rock pitches which help the fast bowlers to throw lethal bouncers
    Whereas England due to wind conditions You get the bowl to Swing alot.
    Pitches play a good role in cricket.

    4:38 At beginning of match, leather ball is new, has shiny and smooth surface. As the ball is played through the match, the smooth layer of leather gets chipped off making the ball rougher and rougher on surface as game progress. The ball spins nicely, when the surface of the ball is rough enough and based on pitch conditions. If the pitch has green grass with dew on it, the rough ball may spin but not with a large arc. For large arc spin, we need combination of rough surface ball and, dry&rough pitch. Hope it helps! Great job guys!

    The making of this movie is a documentary which also won the national award coz making lagaan was one of the most difficult undertakings in hindi cinema and aamir took it as an actor and most important as a producer. This movie broke every single "formula" Rule of making a bollywood movie when it came out.
    For Eg. Despite this being one of the most expensive movie of its time, they dint have budget for the crowd in the match so for wider shot they got 20000 people for one day and aamir khan sang his previous movie songs that the crowd cheered to. those shots were all the cheer shots used during the match.

  • @RuleNo2NoNames
    @RuleNo2NoNames Před měsícem

    4:30 Nope, not because of runup or slow moving.
    Spinning depends on lots of factors.
    1) Pitch, initially pitch is hard , fresh rolled, the more the time and play happens on the pitch, it deteriorates more
    This is why in regular 5 day test matches, batting or chasing runs becomes difficult in the subcontinent/ Asian pitches where the Sun keeps on beating from days.
    And any team, even India if batting last/ 4th and chasing struggles to make those runs, even 150 target is a defendable target in 4th innings in subcontinent.
    English/ Australian ground and climatic conditions are slightly cooler and favourable for batting and fast bowling but Subcontinent pitches are favourable for Spinners.
    This is why the Subcontinent spinners wickets are huge in number.
    Second thing is, more the ball is old, more it will spin.
    This is why Kachra's ball was not spinning on day 1 but started turning/ spinning in day 2.
    He didn't lack in skill, the condition was not favourable to spin on day 1.
    I will wait for your review/ reactions for any Live test matches in future.
    The enthralling test matches are played with
    India against
    1) Australia
    2) England
    3) South Africa
    If these team comes in India they have very minimal chance of winning.
    But if Test matches are happening in their country then India give them a tough fight.
    Win and lose is a different thing.
    Even though you watch live matches and then come here and summarise your observation will be watchable content to us.
    Namaste from the land of India/ Bharat 🙏

    The ball didn't spin the first day cause the ball and the pitch was new hence instead of spinning it was skidding ... and on the 2nd day now that the ball is old and pitch also has more cracks now it started spinning square.....

    If you loved this movie, you should definitely watch the documentary called "Chale Chalo - Making of Lagaan/Madness in the Desert". you will learn about everything behind the scenes and the immense hard work that was put into making this movie. You can find it on CZcams even if the quality isn't the best, not sure if you can find the same documentary with better quality elsewhere.

    I have watched this movie hundreds of time at this point, but it never fails to make me cry. Whenever any player got out we all felt like shit, it was a stupid mistake and the next second you realise it's easier said than done, this was a game of life and death, one is playing to satisfy their ego and other is playing for their living. Characters like Arjan when they showed rage and ended up getting out is not a strange thing, imagine getting tortured enslaved in your own country for 200 years, there used to be boards everywhere at that time written - Dogs and Indians are not allowed, would we be able to feel calm and composed, no. Talking about Sadistic player by Miguel, oh just wait, this movie was nothing infront of the real brutality of British, there are more than enough movies documentaries independent videos etc to show their barbarism. Even if you don't react to them in channel read about the dozens of Invasions and colonialism India fought through on your own, you will understand why we are so passionate about our country.

    • @ChaatNChat
      @ChaatNChat  Před měsícem +1

      💯 there is no way to properly understand what that would even feel like. I'm sure as you said it was way worse. When I lived in India one of the required classes I had to take in highschool was Indian Studies and we learned a lot about the brutality. It would be too much for a film to show, definitely would be rated not as family friendly.

      @@ChaatNChat I am glad you know some but for a fact I know the brutal info would have been tamed down a lot because it's same for us too, our academics largely downplays the brutality for many ulterior reasons (whole another debate ) that's why we general population rely on independent books and authors to know the actual reality. Also about movie that shows one example of this - one recent movie is Sardar Uddham, be ready to cry buckets, brilliant movie.
