I will assume that these are songs that you have written. I perceive you to be someone with emotional depth and intelligence. I have long been waiting to hear songs that you have written as you say you like to write. I will try to purchase or at least order your album tomorrow. See that you do not smoke, drink or use drugs. Love your new album and always will support you.
But I doubt that you wrote any of the songs by yourself cause all in all the lyrics and melodies could be sung by any artist cause they’re so generalized.
It becomes more obvious in this video because you don’t really talk about what every song means to you personally and what’s the story behind it. It‘s obvious that most of the songs focus on break ups or love stories but I still don‘t know what they really mean to you. I hope you‘ll really find your way in the future and write some lyrics that are more personal and not generalize everything you sing about.
For example what’s about “Want me to stay“? It’s not hard to find out that exactly the same song has been released under the title „Stay“ by the German singer Mario Novembre earlier this year. You often said the album only has „original songs“ on it. I‘m not very familiar with ghostwriting and so on, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find any of the other songs already released by other artists, too. I‘d be thankful for an explanation here.
You have one of the greatest voices of all time, so use it and sing about YOUR stories and YOUR thoughts, that would be so much more honest.
All in all, it’s such a great album and songs like “You are living on“ make me cry, but a more personal touch could have made the album even better.

Ronan never said he had composed any of these songs, what he said is that he and his team deal with about 200 pre-selected songs and from this pool selected the final 12. Those songs are "original" only because never have been sung before. All the authors of these songs are ghost composers and they are paid to give their songs and do not claim authorship but they must ensure exclusivity to the singer for which a contract is signed. The phantom composers have existed since the nineteenth century when musicians were overwhelmed by the requests for new songs as happened with Johann Strauss waltzes. However, it has happened that the ghostwriter has sold his song to more than one singer and this I suppose has happened with "Want me to stay" which is actually the same song that Mario Novembre sings. How to avoid this duplication? You can only achieve this with a production group very knowledgeable about the whole pop-rock landscape as Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift has had and Ronan probably does not have, and still you can pass some songs. Finally I tell you that Ronan does not compose music, he does not play any instrument (his voice is his instrument) and he does not get involved a lot in the lyrics. In our times all the singers are wanted to be singer-songwriters but that cannot be, that's why the singers buy the music. Great singers like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett or Michael Bubble are (or were) not composers but always but they always mentioned the authors.
Nowadays the attribution of one composition to the first singer is normal but is a very bad habit. The correct way is to mention the music and lyrics authors.
