Time to pull the Mall down!
I was born in Luton and now live in New Zealand but the new Luton looks very good,well done.
It’ll all come together once we’re dead and gone!
LOL I was just thinking the same. Luton was a great place to grow up in the 70s ut now there's a lack of stuff for teens in most towns. All the clubs and dance halls gone.
@@gilllucraft9911 yes, same storyline all over the uk and around the world, i say this because we've all been watching and waiting patiently for action and work to commence, exactly the same case with the football ground and stadium, i remember reading somewhere that the proposal to find a new location had started around the mid 60's if i remember correctly!
You can't walk from Park Square to the town hall without being begged for a kidney, those council and regular cops just ignore the problem. Sort this out or all you are doing is polishing a turd.
I used to hate the idea of gentrification but it would probably be a god-send in Luton. Police and clean up the city centre, put in some nice flats, shops and bars. It's a 25 minute commute to London so already attractive in terms of transport. The new residents will bring in more money and put pressure on the council to further sort out the issues at hand. Horrible parts of London have already been immensely improved like this.

She says it’s dated but have you seen the “quality” of shops in the mall?! They’re so bad, poor and way below the standards of any shopping centre

so finally, you actually want Luton to be good again. Good measures, but you should not have let Luton degrade in the first place. Maybe it will stand to MK, Bedford, Stevenage and Watford.

Will any of the new flats that are going to be developed at Bute street car park have balconies?
I grew up in Luton and after visiting for the first time in 4 years a few weeks ago the worst part about Luton is all the residential Streets aren't being looked after. Weeds everywhere, cracked pavement and roads. It looks a shambles.
You can upgrade the town centre but you can’t upgrade the people who go there. I only go there now around 2 times a year, as it is full of rough sorts many of whom don’t even speak English.
Updating and upgrading the town centre is a great idea
Making it a place where we all want to spend some time
The river idea is fantastic ,having any kind of water is a massive plus
You've only got to see how busy Wardown Park gets on a hot day .
As for people speaking the wrong language I think you might want to book a seat on Richard Branson's new shuttle to the moon to achieve that one ?

I would agree! I grew up in the town during the 60's/70's & have been saddened by the gradual decline overseen by successive councils. I visit occasionally & the centre is full of HMO's, litter, aggressive beggars & winos. The once quality shops have all gone, as has the industry! They say you can't polish a t**d!
I’ve been accosted by rough sorts who speak an approximation of English with an EDL tattoo. Not all rough sorts are of non UK origin

How about not wasting public money on useless things and start making a real difference to the youth by reopening youth centres?
I get this but when you hear of a "youth centre" or "community centre " it just seems like a place of poverty. Luton has a lot to offer...but it is the disgusting landlords who create 'slums" The analysis these landlords is easy and should be talked about more...and then let's make them pay the bill for aiding those who need to find a home. Services anywhere in the world can not cope with density of population, and then you get hell.
@@robbiedickson5296 youth centres with properly trained and paid staff would help with gang violence and the youth population in general the amount of times you see them loitering around and generally making asbos of themselves let's start with educating the people before we start revamping areas and wasting public money of day dreams also STOP WITH BLOODY CHICKEN SHOPS there is no need for 18 chicken shops on 1 main street there is not a hope in hell any of them are making any money!!

Not being funny but it's constantly just blah blah blah, nothing ever changes and the areas still look so crap and for years they have been talking about the stadium just get on with it. It's boring now
bcuz it takes a lot of effort, at least we start with intention and commitment, and if there's action, results will follow.
Will this make us use the town centre again - no only when needed, aggressive atmosphere , beggars, dope smoking, drunks , litter, got hit by an E-scooter recently 😑
The vast expensively paved square (no point) covered in chewing gum (fountains ?) gazebo's for drunks in then out - what more silly ideas waste of time, money
over filled bins are always left out, dirt and filth every where and just a short walk from the town centre yuck !
Hopeless 🙄
