    I can attest to the fact that my BB score literally improves over 30% after using this technique. This is insane. Thank you, you are doing God’s work.

    If anyone is wondering what the answers were:
    C (Tuj1 is used because its neuron specific so if the cell does express it, we know it was successfully differentiated into a neural cell),
    D (the passage said nothing about making dopamine),
    C (we remove COO-).
    I got them from reddit's "Explanations for Every Answer Spreadsheet" post if you wanted better explanations for practice exams/qpacks.

    The way you simplify this 🐐, I’d be so confused taking this passage in that first paragraph💀

    Wow this is literally amazing thank you so much! I am currently taking the Altius prep course and it is a lot more helpful. I was able to get all of the questions correct!

      Hey Katie, thanks so much for the comment! It means a lot and I hope this helps! Also, this video is a little outdated so check out the one in the description for an updated “Flowchart Method” if you’re really wanting some help alongside that Altius course!

    I LOVE your channel!!! I've watched all your videos and both you and Maggie are SO relatable and good at providing stupid but long-lasting easy to understand examples/tips! It's just a little jarring to watch some videos at 2x speed (since most of us don't have the time to watch on 1x) and hear the music with the beat that even at 1x is quite fast paced (at 2x it sounds like music on steroids), but love the videos nonetheless!! Thank you.

      Thank you for the support!!! I agree about the music so we’ve dropped it on the newer videos. We were still trying to figure things out back when this video was made (still are tbh)

    Hi all! Thank you so much for the tips. May I request more of these types, please? Maybe even another 'rewording questions' video as well? Thank you again and keep up the great work!

      Yes we LOVE ideas! We have one that's addressing rewording the questions but it's called "simplifying the questions", have you seen it? I'll drop the link to it here: czcams.com/video/zzRvMX4hN7Q/video.html

    This is an amazing method! absolutely love it! My exam is in 30 days! I have been staying the high 490s, (499, 496, 497) (used blue print FLs) usually my problem is taking too much time, and not fully understanding how the passage how it wants me to apply the MCAT content. I know the content well. I believe this method helps me break it down way easier! But I have question, what do i do if the passage is really long, and I am using this flow chart method, in other words, How do I use this with out taking so long when the passage is longer?

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m glad it’s helping! The good news is that most AAMC passages aren’t usually as long as blueprint (that’s kinda Blueprints M.O.). The bad news is that some are. Realistically, with practice you’ll get to where you can do the longer ones in under 4 minutes too! But if the long ones take you 4.5 and the short ones take you 3.5, it’ll average out just fine.
      TLDR; practice helps you get way faster!
      We also have videos on timing and tips on interpreting figures and graphs so you don’t lose time on those so make sure to check that out!

      @@InformingFutureDoctors Thats what I thought! because in the Section banks, they are not even that long! I got like 55% on chem and 70% on bio, and blue print I feel is just giving me a tough time! But I want to get higher scores on BP so I can do well on aamc!
      Thanks for the reply, I have been practicing it and getting a lot faster! I dont have go back to the passage as much at all! Hopefully this strategy gives me some extra points! at least get me into the 500s on the BP exams!

    Can you please explain what you meant at 5:36: "do not think “that your improvement is going to come on the right side of the page AKA the questions; your major improvements will come from the left side of the page AKA the passage"? Thank you in advance!

    Did you ever approach from the questions first instead of reading passage first approach? I had someone recommend I go straight to the questions in case there are pseudo-discretes - thanks!

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  Před 2 lety +1

      Maggie here - I’ve never found that to be helpful since I spend more time going back and forth between passage and question trying to do a “search and find”, and you could end up taking passage information out of context. Regardless, you’ll need passage info for at least SOME questions. While I always recommend whatever works for you, I generally tell students to try the traditional read-the-passage-first strategy!

    Instead of trying to game the MCAT, it would be much more productive to try to learn the basic biochemistry well enough to recognize the essence of what the passage is talking about, as well as some of the clues mentioned by the passage, e.g. transcription factors turn on certain genes by binding to DNA and initiating its readout into mRNA, the fluorescence from the GFP serves as an assay for transcription activity, the amino acid glutamate's chemical formula suggests it might be a precursor to GABA, how a neurotransmitter like GABA works and what does its synthesis means the cell is doing, etc. If one understands these basic biochemical concepts, the passage should be clear. But if one relies only on test taking techniques to try to game the MCAT, there simply is not enough time during the test to do even one of these passages, let alone 5 or 6.

    • @InformingFutureDoctors
      @InformingFutureDoctors  Před 2 lety +30

      Knowing the science is certainly very important! But I wouldn’t say we suggest “gaming” the MCAT. Rather, we teach students strategies to put their science knowledge to use by effectively interpreting passages, simplifying questions, and identifying what sciences are being tested in the first place. After all, a good doctor is able to take something as complex as the human body and draw out the information relevant to their differential diagnoses, then simplify it in a way that makes sense to the patient! The MCAT just selects the students able to do that, so that’s what we teach here:-)
