"Right?.................. RIGHT?!?!?!?"
Ugh, heart breaks in slow motion...
FFX is the most emotionally charged, haunting and tragic game of the entire series. I've never cried so much for a game by following the storyline's progression. An epic story where tragedy, politics, religion, love, friendship, magic, rebellion, traditions, death, separation, depression, resilience, fighting spirit, will, peace, lies, manipulation, massacres, fearmongering and travelling are intertwined to give a beautiful, realistic, fateful and excruciatingly tragic but magnificent result. FFX is unarguably one of the best FF ever conceived and I had the sheer pleasure to play it through my childhood and teenage years. The music is also heartwrenching to boot. So many epic memories are going back. Now, who the fuck is cutting onions ?
The part where Valefor holds Tidus in her wings makes me teary-eyed every time. :(
+bloodmoon0011 I know man, she showing that emotion for Tidus is so touching
I wonder if she also recognizes he is an aeon of sorts.
@@burger_kinghorn They all recognize that Tidus too is an Aeon. The Faith for Bahamut communicates with Tidus regularly and his abilities as a Faith isn't unique to him.
@Hookers n' Cocaine 1) Valefor has breasts and a feminine shape. 2) you can revisit her temple and see her Fayth is female. Aeons are always the same gender as their Fayth. 3) The group (Yuna and company) didn't know Tidus is an Aeon, all the Fayth's knew. They said nothing about it because the whole point of the story is self discovery of the truth. The whole reason every Fayth has an affinity with Tidus when you enter their chamber the first and second time is because they know what he is and want to guide him.
@Hookers n' Cocaine Because you see her Fayth and she's literally a woman.
You can visit all the Fayth once you get the Airship.
Also the Hymn of the Fayth is unique to each temple. Valefor's is a woman's voice.
Ifrit is a man. Ixion is a man. Shiva is a woman. Bahamut is a child. Anima is Seymour's mother...
"And I've been telling Yuna...let's go to Zanarkand together! Let's beat Sin! I told her all the things! And all this time I didn't know anything! But Yuna, she'd...just smile."
Man that section stuck with me ever since I first heard it. You feel bad for Tidus, who is optimistic by nature who's looking forward to the future without Sin, but oblivious to the fact that it also means a future without Yuna
I'll argue with anyone, FFX may not be the best final fantasy game but it has, by far, the best story
AlexxEnglishh cough cough ff9 cough cough
Thank you for saying that
Nah, 6,7 and 4 are even better, for me. In that order.
Best Storytelling by far, but FFIX & FF6 have the best actual plot
Oh yeah, great characters with great villains and an epic plot twist. I still love this game to this day.
Rikku, Wakka, Lulu, and Khimari dont want to be on the Pilgrimage, but need to be there because Yuna has to do it to live up to her father and Yevon's expectations is heartbreaking. Really sheds light on the infamous (I was fine with it) laughing scene, and Tidus' monologue about how no-one was really laughing when they laughed.
"I'M ANNOYING-HA......I'M ANNOYING HA........I'M ANNOYING HA"
wakka: "why didn't you tell me rikku is an al bhed?"
tidus: "why didn't you tell me you're leading yuna to her death?!"
Wakka doesn’t tell tidus shit 😂
Meanwhile Auron is busy being unsent in the corner
@@rond6135 what's also amazing there are alot of hints through the game that he's unset but you don't realize it at first.
Despairrific, to the point a Valefor can feel him...
Remember that Aeons have a special connection to Tidus since he is the dream of the Fayth.
"Was I the only one who didn't know...?"
The way he says that so quietly 💔 Totally did not see this coming during the first playthrough. Powerful game.
Being a ten year old kid and playing this for the first time and not knowing this and being just as upset as Tidus
I fell apart, I tossed my controller feeling so betrayed, I asked why nobody told us and than I realized why didn’t they stop her! If it was my sister or my family members I couldn’t bare knowing they’ll die...
I felt sadness realizing what Tidus as been implying all this time “we will explore Spira together” with Yuna, we will celebrate and she’d smile she’d laugh and she’d smile...I felt so stupid, she knew I didn’t know and yet she let me believe it to be true because deep down she knew I’d stop her but it’s something in heart she knew she had to do as her father did
I fell in love with this story and it’s characters
Watermelon Guts Same with me man I watched my brothers play this when I was 5 and this scene got me fucked up
This cutscene is just so funny instead of sad
@@timothyaugustine7093 how is it funny?
i was 10 when i first saw this scene and i was almost as shocked as tidus was, when i replayed it i could not believe i did not notice it. the hints were so obviously
dude, I was 19, and I didn't notice that either ;/
I was ten. This crushed me.
I know. Feels like watching _The Sixth Sense_ for the first time.
@@straenverkehrgeheimpolizei3083 you must be 40 now
@@muhisxv *Withered Wojak*
They say it was too hard to say, but Tidus had a right to know exactly what he was getting into as a guardian. Not just the dangers, but the emotional burden. I love Rikku so much.
AN ANNOYING TAUNT!
AN ANNOYING TAUNT!
AN ANNOYING TAUNT!
I'm happy you speak Al-Bhed
I'm hearing "AN ANNOYING CUNT" O_o
I know you said this three years ago, but I can’t unhear it now. 😭
I'm used to Rikku's outfit here.
I'm not used to her just wearing a bra and arm warmers
This is the moment that we realized we're just as stupid as Tidus
Best scene in the game outside of the ending.
Gotta love how clueless Tidus was. He really had no idea how literal the summoners' sacrifice really is and how he kept thinking the pilgrimage was just one long challenging adventure, and how he kept encouraging Yuna to finish it with a carefree sense of optimism, even innocently told her that, if Sin returned, she could just "defeat Sin again". He never thought that "defeating Sin again" would never be a possibility for her if she went through with the Final Summoning.
I was as clueless as he was, I was so broken by this whole scene because I did exactly what he did, I relived seeing the cut scenes of him being so optimistic towards her and the future he thought she’d be able to celebrate and live towards and knowing she never stopped smiling/laughing with me
I sat in tears
It has been two decades. This still makes me cry.
When I first played this game after its release... I saved, signed off and proceeded to cry as well. Totally, didn't play the game for a week after, Lol.
The most heartbreaking scene!!! I won't stop crying every time I start a new game. :'(
me too
5:53 the jumping kid is having the time of his life
Of the two Aeons that were summoned he rushes to Valefor, Yuna's first Aeon. I find it more sad that both Yuna and Valefore are from the same place and how she just comforts Tidus, I wonder how many summoners that all the Aeons witnessed dying from the final Aeon.
Apparently after 1000 years.... like 4.
Probably more who died on the journey too.
Sin also destroyed alot of temples so many aeons were lost with time . How anima temple wasnt submerged and not destoryed is crazy
@@leelthelful you can thank Seymour for that, but hard to think which aeons would been apart of the Spira summon roster. Hell if Alexander was apart of that he be already hidden by the Al bhed for being considered the aeon of forbidden machina.
I'm Not Crying, You're Crying!
The twisted nefariousness of this scheme is that it plays upon the absolute best qualities of humanity. The yearning to give the people you love a few days of quiet and happiness, to protect them from harm… even if YOU are the one who suffers it in their place.
Isaaru’s words ring true: “We will use that power… even if it means our lives.”
I remember playing this on my cousin's PS2 for my very first time and it being the first Final Fantasy game I ever heard of or seen. He never spoiled the game or story for me and when I got to this point it was like this whole bunch of feelings that made the scene so much more impactful. Love this game so much.
Yuna she'd....just smile.
Kimahri: "It's quiet. Kimahri goes now."
*meanwhile in the background*
That one dude: "I'M ANNOYING, HAH!"
Whenever I reached that scene where Wakka says “I get why you did it”, I thought wait didn’t you hate them a few moments ago? How could he understand why the Al Bhed were kidnapping summoners? My reaction was similar to Tidus but when we hear the truth I was stunned. Yuna sacrificing herself was never something I wanted to see happen.
i've played ff7 before, however this part of ffx game is sadder man i didn't expect that
This scene ranks up there with Aerith's death. 😭

0:36 When you ask about the exam notes in the Whatasap group chat but nobody answers because they know you failed
Tommy Vercetti And then they all suddenly log off
More like when you ask to be in groups for assignments, then everyone just log off. Lol
With the current affairs of today, this can hit more now since not many are able to see face to face. All behind masks and screens
SquareEnix need to recapture the magic of games like this. They haven't had a hit since X
+Oblivion since 12, 12 was good too, but sure, 7 and X was best (imo).
+dacsus I found 12 to be too much like an mmorpg. Find this person, get quest, go here and find this item, bring it back. repeat
I just watched the dream scene in 13-2 before coming here. I must say that the story of the 13 trilogy is pretty good, well thought through and makes sense in its own universe. Some characters may be a bit annoying, but we have those in every FF entry, don't we?^^
Ken2234 Ah I see^^ I find 12 and 3 to be 'average', the rest of the FF games that I've played (every game since VIII) are definitely my cup of tea.
+Oblivion but at least 12's overall story was pretty good even if the gameplay was eh
:D At 2:46 Rikku: The pilgrimages have to stop!"
3:51 "Tell me why! Why were you hiding it? Why didn't I know?"
cried IRL when i got to this part. the feels man
Does it not sound like he's saying an annoying cuunt in the background. : )
Saddest moment in video game history
Finding out the truth about Yuna's fate is not the saddest for me. However, the surroundings; where the Al Bhed was getting massacred is very sad and a lot of other incidents in the story are way sadder than the game tries to make Yuna's fate to be. Sorry, but I think the game is trying to force the sadness that it seems to be cheesy.
Yeah this part was hard to get into with the Al Bhed alarm in the background and my gut feeling of "hey we need to get out of here because it's about to blow up."
The end of FFX I think outdoes it.
So does Zach's final scene in Crisis Core.
But oh man this is up there.
1 is a number. 1 million is a statistic.
Final Fantasy recognizes people are more prone to care for those whom they feel a personal connection to than random NPC's
It's how storytelling works and frankly its how human psychology and human nature tends to.
Those who can see past that can easily end up saints or monsters...
One of the most memorable and emotionally charged moments in any game. No one would be searching for it if it were not. FFX forever!
There's something so funny about the way Kimahri is just "iight imma head out now" and they all just ignore and walk away from Tidus lmao
One of my favorite parts of the game!
The man obnoxiously chanting "an annoying taunt/tongue" in the background really ruins the mood of this beautiful scene 😭
It might have been Al Bhed for something like "danger." I totally agree it was annoying and unnecessary. The fire and dead bodies laying around were enough to see the severity.
@@burger_kinghorn
IKR!
i'm still salty about that scene
I just hate that Al Bhed shouting the same thing over and over again. Jesus.
FFX will always be my personal favorite game. It has a fun leveling and battle system, and the story and characters are so amazing, it’s just an amazing game all around for me. Even the graphics are still holding up well for how old it is.
Damn that scene always gets me
at 2:47 "The pilgrimages have to stop!"
I was only 6 when i first saw this scene and it looking back surprisingly did not surprise me i saw all the hints the first clue that gave it away for me was lulus line in kilika being
"Yuna chose her own path she knew from the begining what it meant, all we can do is protect her along the way until the end." That was dead giveaway for me back then and i didnt bother getting atrached to yuna and decided to court lulu. 🙄
Sure 🙄
Your mind is making shit up. Still sucking on your mom’s boob and you think you caught all the details lmfao
First time i played this game, i am bawling my eyes out just like ooohh yuna don't die...
When seymour kiss yuna, i just like i am so gonna ripping him pieces
Im so glad they didnt try to go on woth the story in other games, or god forbid, some shitty minor novelization. They would have ruined it.
5:23: "A world without Sin...That is the dream of all Yevon's children. And we will use that power, even if it means our lives!"
Isaaru has one of the most powerful lines in the game.
great clip 🐧 titansfreak28 🐧 !!!!! this is probably my most favorite scene of X. well done! even though this scene is really great, but what's up with tidus kind of hitting valefor? was he upset with him also knowing, LoL.
Yeah, he was. Until we get Bahamut, Valefor was the aeon he was the closest with, from watching Yuna first summon him to Valefor saving Yuna at the wedding scene.. Saving Yuna for the inevitable..
+Robert White but wasn't that Dona's aeon?
+Robert White this was before the wedding
She*
There's only one Valefor, just like with all the other aeons. That's the reason you can't summon valefor if the opponent already has. Still it's a bit whacky since there are multiple summoners, so at the beginning when Yuna had just Valefor she wouldn't be able to summon him if any other summoner was fighting at that time
"A world without sin...that is the dream of all Yevon's children...And we will use that power even if it means our LIVES!"
Easily the saddest scene in the whole game for me. Tidus was completely oblivious up until this point where Rikku had to say it outright.
My favorite part of this scene is when Valefor tries to comfort Tidus, showing sympathy and understanding for him. There's fiends around, the whole place is burning, and a summoner that isn't Yuna had just summoned her to fight those fiends, yet Valefor takes the time to comfort Tidus.
And I'm sure whoever summoned Valefor is wondering, "what the hell is she doing?"
So yeah, I love this scene, brings me to tears every time.
And in ffxv the summons are like, we screwed up but now to make amends, we demand a sacrifice
When you replay the game again knowing this it’s actually really sad how much Yuna is putting on a brave face… you see it in laughing scene which is the whole point of it.
Tidis: I have to find Yuna, try to talk her out of it and, if that doesn't work, we'll just make out.
In the Al Bhed Home, after Tidus says "Right? Right?!", the game went into a slow-mo effect and everyone seemed to have gotten angry. No matter how many times I see this scene, I can't understand why. Are they really mad or is it just because they're about to reveal the big plot twist?
I don't feel like they are angry, I think his questions force them to remind that yuna is going to die. And riku is confused because she thought tidus knew it but then his questions don't make sense.
I think they're heartbroken too but it's an old heartbreak and it hurts to be reminded so painfully. They've thought they've come to terms with it and each has in their own way but there really is no coming to terms with it... so Tidus finding out and it impacting him like this rips open the wound anew.
And they feel for him...
I don't know what's sadder, this part, the part at the springs, or the freakin' ending. I wish they didn't make ffx-2, because he kind of lives if you get the true ending. I kind of liked the sad feeling I got from this game. But I will say the part where she heard him whistle in FFX-2 gave me chills.
FFX-2 needed to happen because we got to see Yuna as an adult, as a woman free to finally live her life outside of the impending tragedy and unfortunate fate that was initially waiting for her. And TBH, to see everyone again living better lives and free of Sin forever was pleasant. Both games are necessary in my opinion but I do respect yours.
The part where Yuna and Tidus can't be together. Yuna dies if she use the Final Summoning to defeat Sin or Yuna permanently kills Sin but will cause Tidus to disappear.
Am I the only one that hears "I'm Annoying, Huh" in the background music?
It's ironic and sad that Tidus saved Yuna and the summoners at the cost of himself. It still took tremendous sacrifice to beat sin and Yu Yevon.
It's pretty fucked off hiw they never bothered to tell Tidus the truth. Not even Auron who didn't hesitate to tell him Sin is Jecht.
0:00 - 1:10 are for those people who already guessed what's hapening
in the end, how did Yuna survive? wasn't she supposed to be killed by the "final aeon"?
+NoctLightCloud they never used the final summoning and instead killed yu yevon whos basically the summoner of sin who was inside of him
Jakkuthe KoreanJesus I feel like I've missed some parts although I've beaten the game twice (the second time was in summer 2014). Thank you^^
welcome XD ive only just beat it myself aha its pretty ironic though the game tidus spends all that time to figure how to save yuna yet hes the one that dissapers when they beat sin
Jakkuthe KoreanJesus ikr! Isn't that tragic? So sad....
Yeah I agree man
I can't remember if they ever explained this or not.
They put so much emphasis on the final aeon. Saying that the final aeon is the one that can defeat Sin. In that case, why do the summoners bother to get the other aeons? Why not just go straight to the final temple? :P
Preparation kind of like muscle building
@@rjbutt6097 Maybe. I don't remember if they presented it that way or not when they were telling the story. But I'm too lazy to check so I'll just accept the explanation as is and move on to more important things... like should I order pizza? :/
Summoners have to go through intense training to power up in order to obtain the final Aeon. Yunalesca will not just grant any summoner the final aeon if they are weak and have not done the trainings. The first few aeons are tests, Lady Belgemine is constantly challenging Yuna to see if she is strong enough to face sin. The whole process is to level up and gain the experience and skills to fight the ultimate boss.
@@iheartbeingalive2274 True. Absolutely true. Auron mentioned something about it after the party finishes ascending Gagazet (which is 3000m higher than Everest, damn!). Yunalesca is the one who not only defined what a pilgrimage is about but she's also the one sending fiends and bosses to guardians and summoners throughout their journey across Spira to further their training and see if they have the mental and physical werewithal to handle to Final Summoning.
@@iheartbeingalive2274 that's the in-universe explanation. Outside, it's because the developers had to create something for the players to do/occupy themselves.
Note summoners can skip the line. Seymour and his mother did but I guess that's because his father was high-ranking in the Yevon Church so he knew more about it. By skipping the line he didn't gain the maturity/fortitude to use his power for a greater good.
They had no right, not telling Tidus about it, they knew he didn't know they were to cowardly not to tell him, to cowardly to tell Yuna to back off from the pg. Those who want to change all often notice that the "all" changes them and cowardice is one of the main reasons why.
Why was Wendigo in the cutscene, he's not a summon or was he?
The dead Al Bhed turned into fiends as they weren't sent quickly to the farplane.
FFX was the last fucking great final fantasy game made.
The twelfth was decent even though Vaan wasn't a charismatic nor memorable main character.
14 is also incredible. It wasn’t good at first, but it definitely is now.
@@Twocoolman115 An MMO are where we are at with FF now? smh.
@@Xxandrew01 its not bad
@@muhisxv Regardless of it's quality (Can't really speak on it since I never played it. Though I can definitely say this...the game's ingame graphics are straight abysmal. Especially environment wise. Amazing how the PS1 FF games like better than XIV in that area) it's NOT what fans want from FF. They started off being singleplayer RPG's, and they were at their height with them during the PS1/Early PS2 days. Then post X those type of FF games dropped in quality ever since Squaresoft became Square Enix. Now they focus on MMO crap. In which an FF fan like myself who HATES MMO's have to deal with now.
The worst part about this was eventually finding out the truth behind all the sacrifices, and just how truly fucked up Yevon actually is. They knew all along that the sacrifices were all in vein, but let them continue in order to retain the status quo and keep power over Spira by giving them false hope. They preyed upon the peoples desperation for their own selfish desires. Truly disgusting.
2:46 :(
How did he not ask any questions vefore this is kinda silly, considering how they talk about Braska and Jecht a bunch
It’s a remaster but they didn’t think to re-record the lines
Surprised Tidus wasn't vaporized by that Aeon while he was punching it lol😅
Valefor is a kind woman. She's the Fayth that first connected with Yuna in the temple at Besaid. He's pounding on her midsection wracked with sobs and she's letting him rage then wraps her wings around him like a mother comforting a hurt child.
In a way that's exactly what's happening given that Tidus is a dream of the Fayth...

“An annoying man”
Why don't you do something Wakka?!?!?!?
Don't you think we tried to stop her??
Lmao why they have to show the plotwist in the trailers 😭🥴
"An annoying chant".
Original was better in my opinion
I played final fantasy from 7,8,9 and X. I would rank IX the lowest when it comes to story. it's like a kid's story
really? what is the story of 9?
Does Vivi's story of his existential crisis, Freya's journey to find a man who actually had forget her existence, Steiner and Beatrix's dilemma on their honour as once a knight of genocidal queen, and Zidane and Kuja's effort on defying the purpose of their creation intended by their own creator sounds like a child story for you?
Dude, IX had very dark themes. Did you even play it?
Probably you didn't understand the game..Just Vivi touchs a lot of important themes, and he is just one character...Each character in FFIX has his meaning and the game touches a lot of important and mature themes...Probably you didn't play it or you played it without following the story because it's just impossible to say that FFIX has a childish story..This can be said about FFVIII maybe, sure not for FFIX...
gg365live FF9 is way darker than 7,8 I think you missed the whole point of the game my guy
honestly this was my least favorite scene in this game. I understand the emotion behind it, but tidus running around in a emotional tantrum, even punching the aeons was just very annoying to me. I just thought the crying was going on for too long, tidus was acting like yuna was already dead and they were in the middle of a facility in the process of being destroyed with tons of fiends spawning out of thin air. I get that he's pissed but maybe get pissed after you and your friends escape from harm.
Tidus is such a cry baby. Auron is the only badass in this game.
This is a sad scene but 4:12 omfg LOOOL
