Who still listening in 2024
The odds of seeing this written an hour ago - during this season - blows my mind. This song is 13 years old now.
Hahah me
Yup
😅😮😮😮
Wow that is great music 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
I had a 13 year meth and opiate addiction and left my home town my brother sent me this video 5 years later im back home married with a kid and been clean since 2012 !
Micah Lacey congratulations, glad to hear you turned your life around👍🏽
Congratulations on your sobriety! I'm sure your parents and family are proud!
Congratulations!! I’m trying to get my brother back!
You're gay as this song
Micah Lacey congratulations
"Ain't no shame in a blue collar forty,
Little house, little kid, little small town story"
A line I always sing myself when I feel like im failing. Thanks Eric.
So true! keep on rocking it man!
Great tune. Just a little sad he didn’t play it live when I went to see him in Camden this year. Concert was great, though.
I’m a lineman working 50+ hrs a week shit like that keeps me climbing poles and building the northeast grid day after day. There’s no better feeling of accomplishment when u work hard all week and get that check for some honest work
"You can't hold back the hands of time. Momma's going grey and so is Daddy's mind. I wish you'd come on back, and make it alright....Before they're called home, boy"-Those are some powerful lyrics.
yeah the are,
very true
this songs about tucker beathart
indeed. if we are lucky that's how it will go for all of us unfortunately
..
I spent 12 years helping my little brother fight a meth addiction, slowly over time he realized he needed help. I called him one day, after hearing this song. And quoted " I got a blue collar 40, I need help unloading the bails and a hammer and nails"..... As my eyes filled with tears I said " come on homeboy, show me how hard you work and get off them dirty old streets."
An hour later my brother shows up, we worked and laughed all day about helping on grandpa's farm. This song helped me save his life.
Sadly my brother fit the description to a T. Even hit Mom and pushed dad around.
Iam so glad to hear that your brother stop doing drugs and is still around to help you out
Amen you’re a true brother n friend
I grew up in one of the worst hoods in indy
Monday through friday I learned what it takes to be a force to be recond with on the streets.Fŕiday eveing through sunday eveing and summer break I was at my grandparents in the country with no concrete or black top roads within miles, only gravel, and I absolutely loved it
🙏
This song is so real and honest . I lived this life and am fortunate enough to make it back home alive and well .god is good! Never give up on family y’all
This song came out 6 months before my dad died. I heard it over and over and kept having fantasies of going home and being the bigger man and reconciling with my dad. I was 21 and too foolish and stubborn. I'm 27 now, I've had to live with my regret of not making it home before he died for 6 long years. I hadn't heard this song for awhile, and now I remember why. I'm so ashamed of not stepping up. He needed his son to be there for him and with him while he battled cancer and I wasn't there for him. I will forever spend the rest of my life with this cloud of shame, regret and failure hanging over me. Pride isn't worth anything, if you are reading this, please make sure you don't make my mistake. I love you pops, RIP 8-15-11.
Nothing would have changed.
im sry for your lost but can your dad 1v1 me in fortnite oh wait i full boxed 200 pumped him
@loftyy905 😂yo you're actually a loser 😂😂😂
Had the radio on while I was working the other night, tuned to a random station because I just moved to this area a couple weeks ago. I'm not necessarily even a country music fan, was just checking out different radio stations. This song came on, the music caught my attention and I started really listening to the words. I immediately had to know the name of the song and the artist, and have listened to this song about 100 times since. Has made me cry a couple times ... makes me think of so many people I've known and makes me wonder how they're doing now. GREAT song!
This song is a gem. Well written, amazing melody and guitars. Love it so much.
I was in prison when this came out and saw it on CMT. Still rips my beating heart out of my chest like I never left. One of the greatest songs in history.
@Eric Church🔹 Big E that's almost impossible to answer. But Homeboy has shook some of the hardest men on the planet to their core. Especially those of us who were in the Pen upon it's release. That's some of the realest Real ever recorded. I / we thank you Big Homie. Big Chief,my bad. God bless, keep giving em Hell Kracka.
@Eric Church🔹 Sure man. It would be an honor. Sorry bro,I just realized you got back at me.
@Eric Church🔹 Also wanted to thank you. To me as far as artist go I/we can relate to only you and a great many I know have so much as said- Big Chief is the closest we got in the industry as far an Outlaw persona goes. We felt like ( and still do) your one of us. Look man after I heard on that documentary how you did Rascal Flats- HAHAHA 😂 PUTTING ON A FREE SHOW EVERY CITY THEY WERE IN- MAN THATS BEASTMODE! I knew I was gonna be a fan. God bless ya bro and keep doing what you're doing.
@Eric Church🔹 hey brother
@@austinnewby9666 he ain’t real, but I like your story buddy. Thrive on
Forgotten America. Left to sink or swim. Praying all that read this swim.
I'm fighting addiction every day and this song reminds me of my little brother who has been so much more successful in life than me and I want to come home one day and make him proud
Homeboy is a song I love..but it makes me want to cry..this is my oldest son ...it's been a long struggle..and a lot of wasted years..
You can do it
Don't ever give up. How's your battle going you can conquer the world if you wanted too. Never forget it!
The fact that you are fighting makes me proud of you. God job bro! Keep it up!
I lost my cousin and a good friend in a horrible car crash. The receptions were the same day and I went to both. It was the worst several days of my life. Me and my cousin had this played and it was the perfect song.
Still fighting that demon at 60. I hate how I make my family feel
It's never too late....we all have made mistakes, praying for you...❤
I'm 12 years late to one of the realistic songs I ever heard in my life.. I been here and Thank God Look at me now.. Dad and Mom you never gave up on me praying and having faith and giving me advice even when I didn't want to hear it. 😥 Thanks for this one. I'm later but better than never to have heard this song. Don't give up on your loved ones
I come back to this song from time to remind myself that I don’t need to be rich with 5 houses. There’s just some level of comfort working a good hard job and living in a small town.
Last night was a huge wake up call. Called home after hearing this song. Start work on the ranch back home in 2 days. I know what kinda life Im meant for and it aint the one Ive been living.
***** Good for ya brother glad you made it back home.
***** I wish i was home on my buddies ranch nothing bedder than a country life style.
+lesrach3 Never to late to change,,,, spent over 22 years of my adult life doin it wrong, A lot of years wasted before I woke up. Been doin it right for over 15 years now, and all I can say is, There is a lot to be said for the slow life! Downshift, Go Home Boy!
*****
City's suck, I lived in downtown Sacramento for years,,, Hated the damn place! Filthy, unfriendly, capitol of California. Moved out of the city and found work out where I moved, (Thank God!). The main thing is to make yourself happy, but not at the cost of others. Those others may just be back home, They may be missing you! Take care Son, Good Luck, and don't let the city suck your soul out or turn you bitter, City's are good for that.
ugh I don't like this one I like record year
No one has better captured the story of the prodigal son from the eyes of the big brother who stayed with family
This song always makes me think about my little brother. He made a lot of bad choices and is paying dearly for them. Still hoping he will to come back home someday and settle down and that we can quit worrying over whether or not he's safe.7
Thank you all 👍 for comments and likes on my posts , I really appreciate you,all pleasure is mine , DM I got a message for you.

GOD Bless you 😇.
How he doing now?
Always come back and watch this when I start getting off track. Helps put things in perspective and how to understand when loved ones care about you and what you put them through when you fuck up. Thats amazing a song can do that
It's amazing that you can swear and not be deleted, but I mention something conservative on CZcams and I get my messages deleted right away
@@vikingstorm32 Thanks for sharing that with me. Wish you the best on your future youtube endeavors.
I’ll never forget hearing this song for the first time one morning getting ready for church when my wife called out to me and said this song reminded her of my baby brother (in jail most of his adult life) and what did I think,I literally broke down half way through it ; she just hugged my neck and apologized not realizing what a burden I carried for him that only he could change! Loooove EC!
When I first heard this song I was on my way to the funeral home to make arrangements for my 31 year old son who had overdose he has the tattoo on his neck gold teeth and all he wasn't raised like that had a good life the streets got him as a teenager and he never looked back was a thug for life but to his family he was still that sweet loving boy I played this at his service wasn't a dry eye in the place RIP Joshua I love you
Tina Chadwick I feel for you. I buried a 20 year old cousin in the same circumstances. All I could think at the funeral was "Why not anyone here but him?".
Thank you Tim Gibson I appreciate that I truly miss him more than anything in the world I hear this song and still cry every time but I also smile cause to know Josh I like to say both Josh's because his 2 lives were so different his first 14 and his last 17 were he was in deep we also played Sail On by Haystack Rest with nothing but love baby boy
So sorry that happened rest in peace
this song made me change for the better
Is he okay?
Rest in Heavenly peace Jason Jbyrd Stewart 12/4/76-3/17/21
This is to all of you that think this song is about a bad black kid - it's about a brother who went off the rails. This isn't about race, it's about keeping on track. Addiction is tough shit, and it hits EVERY race.
95blackbetty damn right you tell'm !
If the dumb asses would listen to the lyrics they would know what the song is about
95blackbetty Makes sense.
Yea, it absolutely is..My sister would say this song matches me too a T
I interpreted this song to be about a little shit head, drug-dealing, wigger who disrespects his family and acts like a wanna be thug.
Been having trouble lately. Highest highs and lowest lows and for some reason this song came to mind
Go on home boy
When I was pregnant with Rider I was living with my dying father. This song came on and me and my Dad sang this song together, during the discussion of a "rescue mission"...
Anyways We tried our hardest to save our family roots. Six years later , on my own raising my son, and my Dad has since passed away and every time I hear this song I will remember the rescue story of when we almost had him saved.
This song gives me the chills every time
This song came out when I was getting clean...I was just about to have my son. Felt like you were talking to me...Fair to say, thank you...I'm home now...
Good job! Stay clean, I know it's tough!
Man this makes think of my little cousin he is still like this he is just like his dad
This is one of those powerful country songs that sounds like no other song, especially being that it's like country but also a little bit hip hop and with the guitar adding a rock vibe too! Not to mention the lyrics are just genius! ❤❤❤
This song was dedicated to my son who currently in prison by his sister. The word's n video was my son.
When I turned 18, I woke up behind a dumpster. Reality hit. I joined the Army. Got out in 89, married 27 years. I came Home.
thank you for your service HOOAH

God bless, All the kids in high School wanna be somebody, someone whom is better than other people. For me Being a Marine is the best thing on This planet. Great Move💪
This song really gets to me. When I was 16 I wasn't acting right and did a lot of wrong things. I told my dad I wanted to get away from this small town and move to the city. My dad always told me " you know you're a country boy at heart" but I never listened. He played this song for me when I was about 17 1/2 and I turned my life around. Here I am 18 getting ready to move back to that small town I love.
I absolutely love this song. You can pick one path or the other.... People can try to baby you the whole way but bottom line is that you've got to be the one to call the shot of what happens to you.
I haven't spoken to my 3 brothers in over three years. Only because of my choices in life. This song hits me in the heart. We grew up like this. God knows how I miss them...
Some people just don't know the story behind the song. If you don't like it than don't listen to it. I love this song. It has a lot of meaning. Know the story before you start talking shit.....
i agree with u. this song has a very strong meaning behind this song. its one of the best modern day country songs of all time. ppl need to listen to the the words and not just look at the video and find out what the true meaning of the song is. im behind u on ur comment 100 percent
Daniel Williams at least someone agrees with me. This is the best song ever. :-)
i totally agree, it has a very strong meaning behind it :)
Powerful message in this song and video. Whether you're a person dealing with drug or alcohol addiction, trouble with the law or just need a path in life. There is something about this song that kicked me right in the ass. In a good way. :)
usa67able we all need a kick in the ass now & then!♡
This song always makes me think about my little brother. He made a lot of bad choices and is paying dearly for them. Still hoping he will to come back home someday and settle down and that we can quit worrying over whether or not he's safe.
This reminds me of my dad. His dad passed away when he was 13 and when he was like 20 he joined the army to excape his small town and everyone in it. It's been 20 years and he finally moved back to Louisiana and now I'm growing up where he's from.
I will never go back to that life and god bless whoever is lost in it. We are all human. We all make mistakes.
I love this jam! My pops dedicated this song to my lil brother who is serving time! The streets really hit hard for our youth in Los Angeles!
This song reminds me of my baby brother. He did everything he could to push my Dad's buttons. However when Dad died he knew that he to straighten up. He is now Drug free and living the right way
While not directly relate, I was going through a lot when this song came out. Can't tell you how many times i played it, cried during the solo and played it again. This song meant far more than just what he was talking about. Eric Church is severely underrated and he'll always be at the top of my country playlists.
This tears me up every time hear cant help but think of my nephew I wish he would change but thats between him and God but it does flood my mind of memories of us when he was a young
Maybe the most lyrically clever song I've ever heard. The last verse almost brings a tear...Love it!
I love Eric Church. Always have. Wondering when he's gonna get appreciated for the awesome talent that he is.
He did get entertainer of the year. FINALLY !!
The first time I heard this song i just lost my first child a little boy he stillborn i was sitting on the hospital bed crying my eyes out and my husband was holding ne trying to comfort me and this song came on the tv and i fell in love with and it made me feel a little better
A real country song. Eric is a great story teller. Don't know how he isn't winning awards like crazy.

I had everything in this song....And threw it away in the blink of an eye. Folks, Take nothing for granted!
One of the realists songs ever, my son has been in an out of trouble since about the time this came out, I've listened to this jam many times searching for inspiration
I been going through depression for a while i be happy and i get angry and sad so i am getting help with therapy for my mental health I wanted to be a new person in my life and for my family thank you Eric church for this song it helps me a lot
Thanks 😊 so much for the love and support you have showed me for years now…Are you one of my great fans out there ?
Frist time I heard song I was in the hospital just lost my first child and feeling down and crying and really sick I listen to this song and I felt a little better after I listen to it
When this song came out my cousin sent it to me cause he was worried about the path I was going down then two weeks later my cousin past away I will always cherish this song
This was me for 3 years, i was trying to blend in with my friends and it lead to a lot of drama and fights, im glad i quit acting like an idiot, i missed being country so i came back to who i really was, im glad i quit before i got myself in trouble. I realized that it wasnt the life i wanted to live. This is truly an amazing song, good job Eric Church.
I was in jail when this song came out...reminded me thats how my life was im proud to have turned my life around thankfully im still here RIP to all that haven't drug addiction is a son of a bitch and i pray to anyone struggling there's life out there!!!
Good for you!

Hell yeah listening at this moment..

2021!
Me.
I think of my older brother every time I listen to this song. He does drugs and drinks. Admittedly, he is trying to do better because of his daughter, but since he's pretty stubborn and argues with my grandma all the time, all we can do is pray for him. Thank you, Eric Church, for releasing this song.
Logan Washburn im in a similar boat completely understand prayers
I feel you my pops kicked it n big bro took over even I'm dad we'll to two little sisters guy I'm doing pops job n then some legally but there's no reward im bout after 15 years hard labor to just give up n stickemup
Eric Church is one of the few still doing good country-rock and country.
+Tilsen Mulalley could your recommend me some other country rock artists??
Sturgill Simpson, The Cadillac Three... Uh, a lot of older stuff like the Eagles, CCR, etc.
+Tilsen Mulalley thanks! ill check them out! i already listen to the cadillac three, theyre awesome :)
Yeah, Oh and Imperial State Electric are kind of blues-country-rock. I think you might dig them.
true that
Reminds me of my first love, the father of my children...he's gone home above. Wait for me. We were high school sweethearts. Passed away at 29 years old... we had hard times, but oh boy, we had so many good ones too
My favorite song by Eric Church is still 'give me back my hometown' but I still really like this song, Eric Church is great!
That last verse gets me every time!
Thanks 😊 so much for the love and support you have showed me for years now…Are you one of my great fans out there ?
Thank you Eric Church for this song....😢 Hits our home right about now ...
This song still gets to me...but for a different reason now. I got out of prison a couple of years ago now. This video really sums up the way I was living. The whole time I was in there, all I thought about was my family, and how much I was missing out on with my kids. Now I'm home, and we won't every be apart like that again. The love of my family is what kept me going.
I'm into screamo and indie music and some ghospell and I have never really liked country but the guitars in this song give me cold chills and just the way the song is set up, this song is truly a piece of art.
Thanks for the love❤️ and support you showered on me,it's been a wonderful year having fans like solidly
behind me😊, this is my way of saying thank you🙏to the people who brought me this far.I hope you never
stop listening to my music, you are very beautiful and you seem to be a very nice person❤️...
Where are you supporting me from?
Eric is hands down the best country music artist to come along since Hank. Hank is legendary. Eric will be right beside him.
There's real anger and pain in his face in this video. It's incredible to watch.
Grounded and powerful guitar riff...possibly his best. At least to me. Real Country. Listen to the lyrics...
i can really relate to this song, a few years ago i was in jail and when i got out as soon as i got home my little brother wanted to show me this song and it really spoke to me. i dont know where this life is taking me but i hope i can settle down someday and live a simple country life style but honestly i know that could never happen because of lifestyle choices that iv made, im not addicted to drugs or anything like that my addiction is fast, easy money and, lets just say crime pays...
Eric is just awesome. It almost sounds like he is singing about my 20 year old son.
God, I love this song. An incredible amount of feelings attached
How I feel about my brothers. They are in jail but say it will be different when they get out. I hope they mean it for my moms sake...and their own. I cry and feel this song everytime i hear it. And i feel it everyday. When this song came out I was hoping they would get better and sometimes I thought they were but for the past two years we have bearly heard from them and now they are both in jail. Talked to the one on sunday for the first time since Labor day 2020. Nearly two years. I love them both so much.
Worry about yourself first. Then, if there are people who need help, desire help, and you are in the position to help...only then can you help them. Everything else is simply a waste of your time.
You cannot help those that do not want it...those who don't desire it.
Today, this day, will only happen once. Eventually, you will run on of "tomorrows". Get out there, kick some ass, and if anybody actually wants your help in the future, you will be ready.
We love our hometown Granite Falls boy, Eric Church! We also love our baseball star Madison Bumgarner!
Thanks for the enormous care and hold up as a special true fan of mine it has been your prayers and support that has kept me at my very best may God bless you❤️(469) 301-6683 that's my private contact I hope that's safe with you I really hope I can trust you not giving that out to anyone

“Keep you pretty busy with a hammer and and a nail” love that
Not worry us all to death....
I remember being in county jail, and my brother played this over the phone for me. I realized that I was done with all the law breaking bullshit, as if it hadn't woke me up being in jail already, regardless. I have been out for 6 years. not going back to that life. my wife, son brothers and sisters and parents are better any day.
Jn Ch same here always got locked up as a teenager and now I'm done with that shit they told me one more time and it's back to jail for me... imagine being 15 in jail for some stupid shit that no kid should ever do.. I was in for a while (well a dime which here that's 10 months) got out in 9 for good behavior some of those people that are there for awhile are very wise. they helped me get my life back on track and well since then I got locked up one more time for being a suspect for something I didn't do I was there three days and got out. it was my sister that did it though and told them it was me.. hope she's having fun being locked up
I was doing 2yrs for hydrocodone trafficking LORCET !! WHEN THIS COME OUT I WAS ON BACK OF A GARBAGE TRUCK .. WISHING I COULD BE ON LY FARM IN CLARK COUNTY .. I BEEN CLEAN SINCE 2018 ...ADDICTION RECOVERY CARE A.R.C.!!! TAUGHT ME HOW TO SAVE ME FROM HURTING MYSELF WHEN TIMES GET HARD
If you from the backwoods or really country area, you know what a country gangster is. Tattos on the neck, orange/green construction shirt, sagging the carhartts/wranglers on the GA boots. It is both black and white. This song ain't close to racist, its truth.
This one really hits home when you got a brother that's lost
I feel you my brother lost and I can't get him back
This song hits home on so many levels
This song reminds me of brother. I pray for that young man daily. I'm nearly 16years older than him. I haven't spoken to him in a few years. If I could say anything to him, it would be "listen to this song and I love you, bro"
Was locked up for 4 years, and my mom told me I needed to hear this song. At that time, they had just introduced mp3 players in the prison system. So she sent me money and I downloaded it. Came straight home after my time helped out on the property. Made a life for myself and now have a wife and kids. I have been home for 9 years and still listen to this song to remind me to stay on my path. Was a struggle at first, but I'm doing really good now. Thank you for this song!
Good on you buddy!
"Cannt hold back the hands of time. Mommas going grey and so is daddies mind. I wish you would come on back and make it alright."
this song is my life I was raised by my grandparents as my parents but some way I lost it n got mixed up with the wrong people....after meeting two certain people they brought who I truly am back...n to this day I think it's about me but I k it's not
This is my kids father.....i always wanted more for him. So 😥 2020🎧🎙🎶🎵🎟🎹
There's always hope for him!
He's one of the only actual country singers left. It's very sad.
Listen to William Michael Morgan you'll like him
Tianna's Closet & cody jinks
Its about his brother who was being a criminal
This song is actually good as hell
This is my friends song he is now sober and dad he plays this for his two boys
This song is a great piece by Eric Church..I wish it would get more reconciliation..
I love this song amazing lyrics All Homeboys need to come home, and stop being foolish, ad let the ones who really want for that life have it, black white , pink, purple, or blue, nobody wants that life for their son
The young generation should watch this video their is alot of truth in this video
This would only apply to a small amount of people, it would be pointless of an entire generation to listen/watch this video.
I'm 13 and I looovvvvvve this song and understand the truth of it
Eric church homeboy song music video.
2020 yes!!!!!
@@cory3100 While the full message of course only applies to a small amount of people, the general message of staying true to yourself and that a simple life isn't a bad life regardless of what we are constantly being fed (stand out, be a leader, be unique, take risks) and going back to how you grew up isn't failure is something we all need to hear.
Good message in this song to bad many of the kids that could use it will never listen to it,.

This song strongly reminds me of my youngest uncle and his relationship with his mother.
Rest In Peace, Allen. You earned it, finally.
This song reminds me of my older brother when he thought he was some kind of gangster
I'm a big fan of you eric church
can't believe this was written about Tucker Beathard
Really?
yeah, Tucker's dad wrote this song and it's inspired by him.
Oh, I never knew that.
Som_bia A didn't know that!
All the young men still lost in the eye of the storm, realize temptations playing you and eventually the instant gratification will have taught you not a dam thing. Follow your gut and listen to what’s going on around you learn that a patient man of few words knows shortcuts will lead you right back to where you started, once you listen you’ll notice the little things in life matter the most. It’s the little things that get you to where you’re meant to be. Stay humble and remember an ego will be your demise.
