KISH ISLAND, often called the Pearl of the Persian Gulf has an area of 91.5 square km (36 sq. miles).Kish Island has relaxed laws in comparison to the rest of Iran.
No entry visa is required for Kish. Foreign nationals need no entry visa at the authorised arrival and departure points in Kish Island. At Kish International Airport, the officials will take your photograph, fingerprints, and stamp your passport, allowing you to stay up to 14 days on the Island. If you are western, you may be asked about the purpose of your visit. Make sure you bring all verification paperwork including hotel reservations with phone numbers, etc.
The rules for British and American passport holders have recently been tightened following mid 2019 political instability. If this applies to you, then you are still eligible for the 14 day entry stamp on the following conditions, and may be denied entry and detained until the next return flight: You must arrange for a certified escort/guide, through an Iranian travel agent. The Travel Agent must inform the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about your visit at least 2 weeks in advance of travel. Your guide must pass a copy of the hotel reservation confirmation to the Immigration Office at Kish Airport at least 48 hours before your arrival, and meet you at the airport upon your arrival.
Upon arrival at Kish Airport, all female passengers will be wear headscarves and appropriate clothing. The clothing is available at the Airport, and passengers are expected to return them when leaving Kish.
The staff in general are polite, but they speak little English. So learn at least some Persian phrases.
At present, there are a number of international airlines flying to Kish International Airport (IATA: KIH). The most popular airline with the most regular domestic and international flights in Kish is "Kish Air". Kish Air has international flights to Dubai. Kish Air also offers domestic flights to Iran's main cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad.
