I remember January 2008. You played the first book of preludes at Carnegie Hall. Halfway through Voiles, I stopped listening and hypnosis took over. All of the sounds and all of the colors you drew from your instrument are ever present in my mind. I have never heard them since, and I know I will never hear them again. I remember the luminescence and iridescence of your pianissimos. I remember your shyness in forte and fortissimo, as if you did not want to break the spell. I remember the wistfulness at the end of lyrical preludes, as if you were not sure that you ought to go on. I remember the encores, including the final one, Schubert's fourth Moment Musical. It was filled with what Romanians call "dor" -- implacable and unbearable. I will never forget you. You made time stand still and cleansed the souls of those who heard you. Rest in peace, gentle soul.

Absolutely amazing playing form Lupu I've never heard him play Debussy this is very interesting to here him play Debussy Preludes book 1 the only thing I will say is I wish the camera would of stayed still however the audio quality is very good
Ive never heard him in Debussy!Hes got a really good piano to be able to do much of what his imagination wants !Incredible. So private . I wonder if we'll ever lnow much about him.

J'ai longtemps espéré, en vain, que le Maestro enregistrerait cette merveilleuse version des préludes de Debussy. J'ai eu la chance de l'entendre à Rome, merci de l'avoir ramené dans ma mémoire. Splendide comme je m'en souvenais.
