Extracting passwords thru an exploit like in the demo at the start of the video is possible on password manager apps too.
Funny how he doesn't mention that and paints it like a security breach only present in chrome! xD
that is hat it thought.... smh
I'd rather not use 1password than not using Chrome.
when you still use Google Chrome password manager on the side...I still haven't deleted the passwords, but I on rare occasions use it.
Of course we shouldn't use Chrome! Let's use the product you're advertising instead 😂. Nonetheless, your reasons are still valid (no. 1 is debatable).
I've recently began going back to old school method went I store my passwords in a notebook, right now. I don't trust Google chrome.😅
Next thing on your to-do list. You should drill a hole in that notebook of yours and get yourself a secure padlock or perhaps a biometric fingerprint padlock to safely lock your notebook without anyone snooping into it! Basically a DIY password protected notebook.
ofcourse you don't look at you
Since I only have a home computer where nobody except me has physical access to, and it's generally better protected on my Android phone I still feel comfortable using Googles password manager
me too! I store most of my passwords on my phone tho
I’m a senior and have no idea how to use password manager. I have 2 email addresses and I can see All of my passwords. But the one that I use daily, has NO passwords saved. Can you explain to me how it works
I think it's situation based. I travel a lot, so no way lol
0:46 haha dude, idk if this is a joke or you don't understand what is going on, but if you insert a pen drive and run a command it can do anything, the "command" you inserted is just running an app on that pendrive that was made to get google passwords, it will not be different to get any other app passwords, you can never protect your device from a physical threat, since that would be protecting it from you too
@@PeteMatheson googles password manager is legit - just because you dont get paid to say it doesnt change the fact, that googles password manager is enough for normal uses. You need the master password AND the windows pin or password to get the passwords from there. - and dont answer with .. well what about physical threads? - most of us do have their pc at home and no one else has access to them.
Mac os dont read usb without user permission or unlocked device.
Just... Don't leave your computer unlocked?
Also, you need your Google account details to access the passwords.
And then the local passwords too
Yea, I love to use Google's password manager because my Google account is locked behind 2fa. No one can social engineer Google to steal my account because they refuse to help you if you can't already login to your Google account.
So what do I use on a chromebook
Is there any way I can figure out my gmail password on mac? I don't remember the password and it is not saved in password manager. Please help 🙏🥺🥺
Thanks
Never trust reviews when they get commission
Another issue in Chrome, is that on login page of a website, someone can view source and use the inspect tools to make the password visible instead of showing astricks
Many websites even have a simple button on the password field, that will show your typed in password.
0:49 I don't think so. To view any password saved on Google Chrome, you need to input the admin passwords to view it.
But the major reason for me is your reason number 2 about being restricted to use Chrome browsers.
But great video.
On a Mac, I need my password or fingerprint ID to see the passwords too.
Well think that most people their windows password is a 4 digit pincode
@@sebastiank9723 1234 😂
I think this is like if you save to device not save to chrome?
I use my chrome but I am never logged in. I login only when required and no password is saved on my system. It is all on the Google server
no one has access to my laptop - how should anyone put a usb stick into it ?
@@PeteMatheson how often did someone steal your computer? :)
Do you still not recommending it?
What if the computer or device is locked with a strong password - can you hack the Google chrome password as easily then?
If you are compromised and don't even know it, your strong device password is literally for the fishes :-)
And access without any extra obstacle granted.
And what if they are encrypted with AES 256 ENCRYPTION AND rechanged every 26 days
Not convinced
me neither and the fact that the uploader does not reply to comments suggests a lack of commitment. However, there can be no doubt when it comes to a password manager so I'll stick with Roboform a bit longer.
What if im using Firefox with google password manager?
@@PeteMatheson Ive deleted all saved logins and installed bitwarden. Will try it out :)
i mena seriously, there is password managers arent immune to this either, I have yet to hear a compelling argument about not using Edge/Chrome to save passwords
Except Chrome now uses Passkey xD
i can't wait 😄. Hopefully it gets rolled out quickly. I think in a year, every company will use it!!!!
@google why is this so?
ARE YOU SAYING SHOULD OR ARE YOU SAYING SHOULD NOT?
as if I'll give someone my laptop password+ fingerprint and chrome password
You don't have too. I use biwaden on acasion but stopped because I started trusting Google more.
not the main topic, but password sharing with others is a breach by definition, not clear why it's even suggested as a feature. Otherwise thanks for the video.
How do you share Netflix or Wi-Fi passwords with your family?
@@roustem I get your point, true that some passwords are designed to be shared, but the cases you mention in my opinion are within friends and family and are not ones that benefit from a password manager. Wifi for example can have the password in clear next to the router physical access which is same as the capability to connect a cable to it. Netflix can go through a separate channel e.g. phone call or context free text.
@@roustem Neither should be shared over the internet, ever. Netflix has family mode to give people access, wifi should be posted physically in a location secure to the location that users are in.
Do not use google chrome period
just remember an 8-12 number, letter and special mark and write down just the random part on paper and secure it in your home, on theft, they still do not know the first part, thats the best password manager, and it's free!
