Arteta and Arsenal had a lot of work to do when he took over. Got rid of a lot of average players on big wages. Now they have a good squad, its time to get rid of a few players and upgrade ones coming into the team. Rotation will help at the end of the season.

Arteta proceeded to take 3 and a half years to make Top 4 while he fell out with all the players
while getting absolutely humiliated in Europa by the likes of Olympiakos, Emery’s (lol) Villarreal & Sporting.
Arteta didn’t have “a lot of work” to do at all, he just made hard work of it.

Why do we need a striker when we already have 2? We don't have anyone at left 8 and didn't have a first XL LB and that cost us last season. We don't have a Saka replacement either. Both of these are more urgent than a striker. We didn't lose out because of the absence of a striker.

I will keep saying this till it is no longer the case, but ARSENAL'S ISSUE ISN'T GOALS!!! They scored over 110 goals in all competitions last season. 91 in the league. All this "they need a striker; they need a striker" talk has become dense. Quality of depth in certain areas like at left back right wing and in attacking midfield is what they need. Arsenal isn't a team that relies on one or two people for their goals so miss me with all this striker talk. And if you wanna say "Oh but what about Haaland and City?" the truth of the matter is that City don't win the league without goals from Foden, Alvarez, De Bryune, Rodri and a couple others who chipped in. So, let's move on from this narrative. It's gotten boring.

And if you take into account Havertz was playing in midfield for half the season, he actually did well once he'd settled into CF, with a run of 15 goal contributions over the last 14 games he played in.
Are you saying that's a poor return? By comparison, Haaland scored 11 and provided 0 assists in that same period. Ollie Watkins had 8 goals 3 assists, & Isak had 11 goals 2 assists.

No plenty of teams in the PL with outright strikers, Haaland, Watkins, Solanke, Isak, Mateta, Muniz. Then you have more raw/unpolished talents like Darwin, Höjlund and Jackson, and then you have attacking midfield/wingers playing in the role like Gakpo, Son and Havertz.
We saw the same with Germany during the Euros. Havertz does a lot of good things, but isn't the man teams will need in the box during certain games. Germany had Fullkrüg they could sub in but Arsenal is lacking that typical poacher and/or target man. To say it blunty, Arsenal will never win if their main striker has only once scored more than 10 goals once in the PL, and maxed out on pretty paltry 13 goals.
@@axels9179 in Arteta's system, he's a 9. It just looks different. Once he was getting regular runs in that position (from mid-Feb on), he was out-contributing every other striker in the league.
In fact the game they referred to in this video, the Villa game, Havertz was deployed as a midfielder, which for me lends more credence to the assertion that he needs to play up top.
You can't make the argument about teams sitting deep working counter to that when we belted a bunch of those teams off the paddock as it was.
Arteta favours tactical flexibility, and he looks to achieve that through positional flexibility, rotational fluidity and a solid team mentality.
If he feels a fixed striker isn't a priority at this point, I'm very interested to see what he's looking to do circumvent what it would otherwise give him.

When I think about last season I think about Raya and the 2 massive errors he made that cost the club 2 wins and 4 points. We didn't do enough to win against Villa. We did in the first half of the season against Chelsea and Spurs. That's where the season was lost. 2 games we should have won but didn't because of our new keeper. Title gone right there.
