That’s what they like you to believe. I live in Switzerland and my American friends all have bank accounts. They were told they cannot and escalated it until they opened it. But they cannot legally deny you as it would be discrimination. You just have to refuse to be denied.
Some banks don't want to work with US clients in Swiss due to FINCEN regulations hassle. It's easier if you're non American or opening an account in the US branch of the Swiss bank.
I have custodian accounts in Swiss, they are managed by my FO, which is actually multi family office(I recommend going with them, you can usually get better rates and better access to deals that requires high liquidity). For my FO, the minimum is 1.25M CHF, and fees differ but most of my accounts are 20/2. If you need one it'd be so easy to get one. After all that's how they make money 💰
