    One of the best explanations of this procedure. Of ten times we see leaks underneath a V6 Honda/Acura vehicle and don’t where to look. It’s often this VTEC solenoid and the valve cover gaskets that need some TLC.

    The most difficult part is unplugging one of two plastic plugs so that is does not dangle and become completely detached from the plastic fitting plug-Do this first before unbolting the 3-main metric bolts. The other plug that has the green plastic is fairly easy to reach and unplug but the other is not and its a real pain in the ass to reach. Also the green plug and be loosened up just below with a common open end wrench and there is a small o-ring inside there. Purchase the gasket set $18 and it will have all 3-gaskets.
    The main larger gasket with filter is what hardens like a pretzel and causes the oil leak not the o-ring or other smaller gasket.

    For anyone who is curious, this can be done without removing the wheel. I changed the gasket on my 03 Odyssey with it on ramps. That being said, I don't recommend it, it's a much tighter and all around more difficult job without the wheel off.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 2 lety +3

      Yea definitely better to remove the wheel, it opens up the whole area to work in

    • @ijmcnaught
      @ijmcnaught Před rokem +1

      I just did that and dropped one of the three bolts, so put a top and bottom one in and reversed off the ramp and got the 3rd bolt and put it on, I kind of regret starting it as some oil leaked in the few seconds I ran it. But all three bolts on with the new seal I'm thinking it's good
