    UPDATE: We incorrectly explained the Minimum interval (on the lapses tab) in this video. Here is what the Anki manual says: Minimum interval allows you to apply a minimum limit to the above option. The default setting says that lapses should be reviewed one day later. The interval must be 1 day or more.

      Awesome video! One thing: When I changed my "new cards per day" to 9000+, I found that trying to review what I did the day before means that every other card is new, and if I hit again or good on too many of them, the reviewed cards get pushed way back in priority and I have to get through countless new cards to review old ones?

    I'm a research scientist and not in medicine in any capacity, but I find your channel fascinating. So much so that I've downloaded all your videos as a resource because I think your approach is something all fields could learn a considerable amount from. The time and dedication you and your community put into these videos and the various Anki decks is really admirable, particularly because so much of this information has been released free of charge.
    So thank you and your community very much. Every college and university should have someone like you for each of their fields of study. I've shown your channel to doctors I know who are GPs, some are specialists, and I wish I could have shown you a clip of their mind-blown responses to this high quality work. With my Chinese deck settings, I have the steps for the new cards set at 1min, 1day, 3days with a graduating interval of 6 days. Does that mean no matter how many times I click again before it graduates, the ease doesn’t change? Also, once I get a card wrong and it goes into the lapses steps, should I make those the same as the steps for the new card? currently I have just left it as the defult settings, of 10.. but I don’t understand because the good interval remains 1day, it’s the again interval that gets changed to 10.

    Hi, your videos are really helpfull :)
    I have one question though.
    I do my new cards and for example I have a limit of 50 new cards per day, and finish the 50 cards. And then when I add cards they jump into new cards even though I've already reached my daily limit. Is there a way of turning that off. So that the recently added cards don't show up in the new card tab. I'd rather not see the cards I make the same day I made them, but the following day instead.
    I hope I explained my problem properly.
    Thanks :)

    Hello, good work. I'm a bit confused about interval. I read free pdf book Anki101_v3 and settings are different: Steps 15 - 1440 - 4320 Graduating Interval: 7days Easy interval: 10 days Starting ease: 130%.
    I'd like to study new cards at least two time in a days and then after 1 days... What do you think about this setup: Steps 15 - 25 - 1440 - 4320 but with 4320 in the Graduating Interval in your opinion how many days I need to input 3 or 7 ?
    Another question about "Starting Ease" in your book you suggest 130%, here 250%. Which is the best ? thanks in advance

    I have a question. When moving cards from one previous deck to say another deck, does the ease/intervals change? Ive noticed sometimes when i move cards from one of my decks for a block, into a new deck for another, that the good button states my future interval is to 6 months (max interval is 6 months like in your video). Is there a reason for this and fix this?

    Hey, your channel is an amazing resource! Thanks for all that you do.
    I was wondering what you would recommend in a situation where you need to unsuspend more new cards than you have set to do within that day? I don't want to get overwhelmed with reviews, but I get the sense that I'm seeing more material (in B&B for example) than I have the time for in the cards. So, my new cards keep piling up.
    For example, I'll watch enough video that I open up 150 cards, but I'm trying not to learn too many new cards per day.
    Thanks again!

      There's a lot of ways to do this and it depends on your schedule. I usually add about 200 cards on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and don't add new cards the rest of the week because that works with my schedule. There's not a great answer other than try to space things out as best as possible, but it can be difficult with classes and required activities

I’ve seen that you had a Chinese setting I’m guessing you’re trying to learn some Chinese characters, so am I, unfortunately I haven’t found any good information online about how to use anki in the most efficient way to learn characters or Chinese instead the topics are more often centered around medicine exam or close deletion cards. So I was wondering if you could explain your settings for Chinese or do a video on how to best use anki when trying to learn characters. Thanks in advance,

      Definitely. Truth is I'm not actually using Anki to memorize the characters and strokes at the moment because I can already read and speak pretty fluently. Second, I know this is the wrong video but I couldn't find the video where you did mention this, so I apologize for posting here- but my question is, I think in one of your videos you talked about a settings option somewhere where you could make cards show up by or on a certain date. You mentioned this was especially necessary for something like MCAT studying where your entire period of studying is only like 3 months (so if a card is scheduled to show up 4 months later, that's no good) vs if you're doing med school studying where you intend to keep reviewing these cards for a couple years. Could you either direct me to that video or talk here about that option/how to do it?

I have a deck that I previously did but stopped doing and have recently tried to catch up with it over the summer. I'm sure many of the cards are in the graduating state and if I get that card wrong, it will go back to 1 day interval which is fine. The problem I have is that after I start relearning the card again and go through lets say 3 passes, it will reset to 1 day interval again and then the next day it will go to like 2 day interval instead of just continuing on my relearning intervals I was at. I don't understand why and it is really screwing me up because my cards are building up. I just wanna know what setting I may have screwed up. thanks.

      @AnKingMed  Před 4 lety

      After a lapse, your card is going to be back in the learning phase again. It's going to use the lapse setting to adjust the interval or limit of how many days each button can schedule a card into the future. The general rule is that the easy button will modify your ease factor despite currently having the same interval. When you lapse a card with a greater interval, you'll see that you won't have two "1 day" buttons.

    1st of thank you so much for all that you do and for making thing simpler. I downloaded your program today and I can see myself passing my exam already. My question is,
    1. If I set my interval at 7 days, is that mean That my cards will not go more than 7 days with out a review?
    2. I have 488 cars and my exam is in 5 weeks. What should be my setting as far as my interval?
    Again, thank you for creating such a useful tool.

      @AnKingMed  Před 4 lety +2

      We have a video on how to use Anki alongside lecture that may help, but we haven't made anything specific for Step 2 stuff yet. Ideally you should count how many cards are in that deck and divide by how many weeks you have to study and that's how many new cards you want to do per week. I typically use "per week" instead of "per day" because some days its impossible to add new content, but other days I have more free time

    • @AnKingMed
      @AnKingMed  Před 3 lety

      @@blessedpig08 Withoug maxing the limit to 9999, then there is a chance that this setting could limit the amount of info you're trying to learn. Perhaps your limit was set to 200 new cards/day. If you unsuspended a tag with 250 cards, you wouldn't allow yourself to study everything. This would compound over the days, weeks, and months and your studying would always be limited to a certain percentage of the total content. 9999 is the simplest way to make sure that doesn't happen. Realistically, you could put like 1000 and be mostly safe.

      Change it. Don't get stuck in ease hell (when you end up reviewing [not learning] a card way too often),
      If you want to optimize your memory without reducing the ease, expand on your learning steps (e.g 1 min, 30 mins, 1 day, 3 days and then 7 days, card graduates with 10-day interval.) Find the learning sequence that suits you as that is the best time to be seeing the cards most frequently.

      Yeah they'll show up. It treats 1440 as 1 day and your "day" restarts whenever your settings are in the preferences. So even if you do your card at 11pm, if you next day starts at 4am, it'll be ready to review at 4am.
