You could build a smaller board with a couple of tonex pedals, an hx effects, and a midi controller. You could have any amp, any drive pedal, and all the wet sounds you would need at the hit of one button. Wish i would have went that route instead of the true big board route

    • @Tone_Factor

I have the TONEX now and WOW! This thing is so close you cannot tell for most things that a simple EQ could not straighten out. Ive just hooked this up to the return in my tube amp in my pedal chain and hot damn this pedal rocks. The only thing I don't like is the money trap part of the pedal with buying plugins and stuff, but I guess it's no different buying them elsewhere. I am either going to buy a second one for doing effects pedals and having them on the board separately with other amp captures. TONEX ONE more than likely.

The presets from TF sound really good, but when I compared it directly to my shnobel daily driver, I couldn’t convince myself to go this route. I could get it about 90% of the way there with tweaking, but still preferred the way the real pedal pushed the amp. If you don’t have the pedals to compare side by side, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, especially in a mix.

One thought on your use case - most of our captures are saved around the same volume, so they aren’t necessarily boosting or pushing the amp hard as is. Did you turn the volume of the master as well as the capture to get the same volume output to push the amp like you have your real pedal dialed in? That would be biggest variable in this case.
