Part 11: • Joe Torry on Spike Lee...
Part 1: • Joe Torry on Getting A...
--------
In this clip, Joe Torry talks about 2Pac being scratched from the casting phase for the cult classic "Higher Learning." This prompts a discussion about the big plans that John Singleton had for 2pac as an actor. From there, the two men talk about 2Pac's infamous physical altercation with the Hughes brothers. Moving along, Joe Torry talks about his friendship with 2Pac leading up to him being shot in NYC in 1994. The actor/comedian reflects back on the impact that shooting had on 2Pac's spirit as the late rapper was heartbroken that someone from his own community made an attempt on his life. Joe explains that part of the reason why 2Pac reacted that way is because he was "on some king sh*t." Moving along, Joe looks back on writing 2Pac while he was locked up and watching him grow in popularity as a rapper. - Zábava
Pac's song "Never Had A Friend Like Me" says it all. Dude was loyal.
Nobody wanted a susspect friend lik pac😂
I'm loyal to me
Trust No One. Classic tune, it’s very slept on
That song was dedicated to his same sex lover.
Crazy thing is suge knight said the same thing. Pac was loyal af
Joe, Much respect on that insight. These youngsters don’t understand Cube 88 to 93 The dominance that Cube had on the rap game
Your enemies is my enemies cause you ain't never had a friend like me - 2pac
Learn your enemies before you attack
M@Exit 17 bro you fuckin silly lol
.. let you get my last shot of hennessey 🥃 ain't never had ah friend like me
That nigga didnt live long enough to protect his mom. Are you stupid Charles?
Busta Rhymes said the same thing. Pac's loyalty and trying to have everyone's back is what got him into trouble.
No it aint
he wasnt loyal. he was stupid. He could have been loyal to the kids
People always saying Pac wasn’t gangster…don’t have to be a gang banger to be gangster…his name still being in conversation today we keep learning something new about Pac
And let’s not forget Public Enemy had a major influence on both Cube and Tupac.
Vlad is really tripping! Brenda's got a baby put Pac on the map. He just took off after that with I Get Around.
Rest In Heaven Old Soul. 💯
Heaven ?
Negroe stop it, Tupac is not in no damn Heaven
CHRIST must judge first to determine who go to heaven or hell
that nigga likely in hell bro
I see some comments saying thats why he got killed... but real loyalty like that is rare and alot of people wished they had somebody to have they back no matter what... and the things he stood for is why he is still talked about so much and is still relevant today. Haters try to tear him down but they cant. Pac's death wasnt an L because his legacy is IMMORTAL.
💯
I love pac but he turned on his on brother mopreme over suge. That says a lot about his character. Plus Tyson and biggie warned him and he went back and told jack what big said. Character
Pac did take an Lbfor lettin a street kid revoke his thuglife card for good 😂
@@jaystacks5249 which is why they weren't there in vegas to backup pacs studio gangster lol
Pac was just a loyal friend, i dont get why people try to knock him for defending his niggas. He even beat someone that stole chuck d jacket. Thats how loyal he was. Pac was a loose cannon for sure and it got him killed but he was a loyal dude. Id like to have someone like pac in my side thats for damn sure.
2Pac NEVER RAN!!!!!!
How would you know?
Has a song named “runnin”
LoL
@@3rdGenerationCancer You lame 😂😂
@@derrickrankinjr2798 means nothing to me coming from a 2Pac bıtchboy
he did from the bullets they was juss faster than him😂
If you look up LOYALTY in the dictionary Pacs picture would be next to it 💯 ✊🏾
Same thing if you look up dead. No other group of people die for and support this ignorant bs
And Tony yayo
@@robertmcfarland5282 Yayo has that loyalty to 50, Pac had it for anybody he knew mainly because he was humbuggish
Alot of people don't know what the word loyalty is or have a problem with it because it's not who they are!so called friends or family that will back stab you quick
Joe looks good man. More power to that brother. Legend.
Yea pac said it exactly how Joe Torry said. He was loyal to the fullest. Which is why he took off on Orlando for trying to jump trayvon at the mall
Pac's albums on Interscope are not to be slept on. A Black Panther consciousness with a militant mindset, written simply to uplift and empower black people. That is why the Quad Studios incident is quite the betrayal. And why Pac had no other option but to be true amidst the paranoia
YES!!!! And if you were in a militant family back in the day, you knew the name Shakur.Pac had buzz the second he clowned with the Underground lol ❤
My favorite 2pac quote is when he said i smoke a blunt to take pain out and if i wasn't high id be trying blow my brains out
Lord knows!
Weak minded af
2pac smoked his last blunt I the bmw until them crips pulled up on his side to blasttt it right out 😂
@@richtexas4431 lord knows he was never thug qualified lol
@JALEN AVERY (Lloyd Avery II's Son) He could of hit your mammy
Vlad the biggest Tupac groupie 💯
Vlad knows about every situation but wasn’t at none of em
That’s what happens when you have interviewed everyone in rap for the last 15 years straight.
Well Said By Joe Torry
🫵🏾💯👍🏾
Great interview
Pac obviously eventually found his way. But folks tend to forget how HUGE Ice Cube was at the time 2Pacalips Now dropped. Cube was KILLING the game at that time. Nothing in the game, aside from NWA, was coming CLOSE to Cube at that time. Although MC Hammer was the biggest SELLING rapper at that time, Cube was the HOTTEST and most RESPECTED rapper at that time. He was the People's Champ. He didn't fall off until Death Row entered the game and took over.
His time as champ gets looked over when hip hop is talked about... because why wouldn't Cube be a least top 5. Yes no Vaseline is one of the greatest diss record and couple others but it seem like Nas get more talked about during the earlier 90's and other new York rappers.. idk that what it appears like
I always tell people. Cube in his prime was bigger than Jay z in his prime and it's not even close. That's a comparison I give to the younger guys that only know cube for movies lol
@@jackjill8129 That’s because he was apart of NWA..
@@gerrinehill6992 we all gotta start from somewhere.
@@jackjill8129 Cube was bigger in his prime than Jay because he was apart of a rap group that started gangsta rap..
Much love to Joe Torry. A man you were brushing the ish out yo head in PJ. That scene was funny af🤣🤣✌️
PAC was a real Nicca, haters just don’t want to admit it 💯
That’s what make pacs so real his loyalty
2:58 Vlad trying so hard to feel included in the story he totally missing out on what bro is really saying
Will there be an interview about Joe Torry during this interview?
If you was around on the 90s and you met pac, eazy and biggie then you can get a interview too😊
Guess that's why you can't get an interview 🤷🏿♂️😂
.. still with pac .. it ah be enough interviews to make you rich 🤑
You don’t need to be back in the 90s to meet them. I know where they are at right now alive and well.
Finally the only reason I think he was called to do this interview lol👀👀✅
A Ice Cube & 2Pac album would of been 🔥🔥🔥🔥
BIG FIRE !!!
♊️ ENERGY!!!!!!!!!
It’s a difference between “Loyalty” and “Blind Loyalty” Don’t be a fool‼️💯
Give Ice Cube his flowers 💐
Joe a real one
It's crazy how alot of y'all don't see the major flaws in the way Tupac handled himself. That mentality is why alot of our friends etc ain't here no more. And y'all just love it. Smh
No,that mentality is why a lot of us are here 😉 Yall fear Black men who aren't bucks but loyalty & willingness to die so your people/collective have a better chance to thrive ain't nothing to put down.js
Tupac was dumbass
Pac was and is still universal. I love that the truth is out bc its not all glitz and glamour. Pac was conscious but wild and reckless too still don’t take away the love from the fans. My thing is if he isn’t anybody to you why even respond ?we are fans some have been fans since then and will continue to be. These are their experiences and stories about Pac
Vlad let your guest talk WITHOUT interrupting them & trying to compete with them. Uggh let Tory talk& get his thoughts out before trying to seem like you know it all! 2pac was with the shitz all the time! Point blank period. I wish he hadn't been like that. He deserved more life. RIP to the realist.
Lol. Good to hear Joe Torry talk positive bout Pac. I remember hearing him on the radio bac n the day clowning Pac about being violated in jail.
Huh?????
Ayo wtf
I don't remember ever hearing that. You sure you don't got him confused with somebody else?
@@jackjill8129 nope. Was on the radio. One of the morning shows here in st. louis
@@jackjill8129 was jokes. But he still said it. Lol
He's been gone over 25 years . 💔 let that man rest 🎉in peace ✌️ 🙏
Every thumbnail Joe Tory got the look of I wish this nikka would quit asking me about Pac and ask me about me
That was good St Louis stand up!!!
Pac was very wise Beyond his years remember he came from greatness his mother represented herself while she was pregnant with him in prison and got off her charges
And 20 other Black Panthers
So glad to finally hear people in these comments talk about the real legacy of Pac and his mother and not just the gangsta rap and street side that is glorified all the time
Pac was so wise that he acted so stupidly that he died at 25
Ight now Vlad, there was more to it than that with the Hughes brothers.
Also, Hughes brothers directing Tupacs documentary in 2023 is wild
You never seen or will see nothing like Tupac!
Good interview and I like how joe torry speaks on pac all good points
Respect to joe
Literally EVERYBODY maintained a relationship with Pac
1:20 weird ass laugh 😂😂
Can you get a Bill Cosby interview want to see that one
That John Singleton and PAC combination would’ve been like Kobe and Phil
Tupac Just Was Always Ready
Crazy how the ones whom been around pac , tell the truth about how pac really was, and it sold how folks will look at him as the great leader. He influenced a lot of craziness.
Man I wish he could ask the legendary Joe Tory sum questions about his career aside from Tupac 😅Gotdamn clad
Couldn’t wait to talk about 2pac…
Glad did you stay in contact with him. Joe Torre a pager duh. 🤔🤣😳😭
Same thing got him killed smh.
Samething I was thinking.
he got shot in a drive by? how is that making a fight that’s not his, his own?
@@Anonymous-pl4zu u must be too young or just not know what led up to him getting shot

King of rap Tupac 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
2pac was never taught the concept. Of retreat. To Retreat is not an act of cowardice. It's strategic.
PAC was a real one 💯 just should have slowed down a bit
Pac was fake asf. he was a getwit
Pac did slow down at the red light at koval and flamingo intersection ☠️🚦
Should’ve slowed down a lot.
Pac should've slowed down his duckwalk 😂
I think him being from Baltimore says it all lol
Glad they made this Point..! A lot of Pac haters like to think that the publicized incidents were the only shootings and fights that he were involved in. Lol everything didn’t get publicized 💯
Vlad: I know stories about 2Pac that nobody knows
How did you find that out if nobody knows? You ain't special 😂
Vlad didn't tell that Hughes Brothers story accurately
Neither did Pac. Pac made it seem he beat up the Hughes brothers by himself. But everyone know that he had help. Alot of help
@@3rdGenerationCancer Yea Vlad had the dude on his platform who told the whole story I forgot his name I only remember his face he was the main character in the movie
@@3rdGenerationCancer y’all gotta stop lying. He specifically said “I can’t help that a crew of people were whipping their ass and I can’t help that they were screaming Thug Life while they did it”. lmao you can tell joe tired of getting asked about pac
Y’all make Pac into some god. Dude made it to 25 had little guidance & hung out with ppl with even less guidance. Access to millions of dollars & all the newest tech. He had A LOT of growing up to do. He was extremely Nobel but to a fault. If Pac lived till today he’d spend a lot of time hiding from media because the game hasn’t evolved or being a makeshift DAD to a lot of lost talented youngins.
And he’s still more important in death than you 😂 stay jealous
One day Cube gonna get the credit for being the MC that he was. Cube was like Public Enemy on steroids. That's why I can't get with the mumbling and weak lyrics of today. Cause we had dudes like Pac, Nas, Cube creating hip hop masterpieces as youths.
Pac was wild boy
According to John Singleton on the director's commentary for Poetic Justice, Pac was his first choice to play Shaft.
Tupac was a Gemini he was just all over the place 😂

Look how Vlad tries to spin everything in a negative way. Tupac wasn't starting things he was riding for his friends.
Im so glad joe solitified sayin that tupac did things based off loyalty never starter nothing. Vlad do the interviews & then talk like he was there

Once again VLAD doing the talking in the interview. VLAD JUST INTERVIEW YOURSELF AT THIS POINT
Notice that Pac disrespect & the opportunity to kill his legacy gets worse every year. Why say all that lovey dovey shit when he died? Y’all should’ve said all that in the beginning.
