- Decided to check out two more debuts from SHINee whom I had hear of from a friend way before I was into KPOP and 2PM who I know from "My House." SHINee and their solo work are the ONLY Kpop group I listen to. All the brothers are just phenomenal and insanely talented. Theydebuted in 2008 as an experimental contemporary group. The members (at debut) are: Onew, 18 (leader); Jonghyun, 18; Key, 16; Minho, 16; and baby Taemin was just 14.
SHINee is more than just popular over their 15-year career, they are considered legends by both fans and the industry as a whole. "Replay" is considered the best-ever debut song within the entire Kpop industry. It's almost a requirement for new groups to cover this song. In addition, SHINee became the trendsetters that transformed Kpop into what it is today. They were the first to institute live singing during performances with more complex, extremely synchronized dancing, which instantly made other groups up their game. Soloist IU, who debuted a few months after SHINee, stated on her show "IU's Palette" that she remembers that all the older groups would rush to watch SHINee's dry-run rehearsals when they learned of them because everyone was so amazed that they could sing live while doing such strenuous choreo. You can also enjoy dance practices because of SHINee's 2010 hit, "Lucifer". It's dance practice video went viral and other groups were quick to follow their example. The SHINee brothers also came up with insane performance concepts that took Kpop by storm, so much so that other groups borrowed those concepts as blueprints and tweaked them to fit their needs. This became known and following the "SHINee Standard".
However, SHINee's creativity doesn't stop there. As vocal powerhouses, SM soon learned that SHINee could sing anything thrown at them -- even Opera with Onew. All the members can sing, rap, dance, compose, produce, and are songwriters and soloists. Key is an actual SM fashion director who has styled SHINee's costumes since early on. Taemin actively gave input on their choreographies. All of them have written many of SHINee's songs, as well as individual solo songs.
Being experimental mad geniuses, SHINee regularly blends three to four genres into one cohesive song, an early practice picked up by other artists. In addition, they produced the very first hybrid song to Kpop by integrating two of their existing songs, "Clue" and "Note" into one new song --- 2012's mega-hit, "Sherlock". SHINee is also credited with introducing new genres to kpop such as Dubstep in 2013's "Everybody" and Deep House in 2015's "View". In short, SHINee was given some creative license behind the scenes as early as 2009 -- just one year after debuting -- during a time when that was not the norm. That freedom was expanded even more by 2015 and now they pretty much direct their entire music process from music composition to set direction and everything in-between. The success rate of these contributions opened the door for many other artists to also contribute to their work.
These are just a few of the reasons why SHINee are so revered and respected across company lines and in the world of Kpop. This is why they are legends. For debut song Shinee's Replay is legendary... But to fair justice, you need to check out other 2PM songs too.. their debut song didn't do them justice.
I really love Shinee and 2PM, both groups has super immense talents and uniqueness of their own.
Back then these 2 groups were debuting with totally opponents image of each other.. 2PM debuted as the beastly idol with their masculinity and Shinee debuted as the flower boy with their boyish charm for noonas.. ❤❤

2PM is a great group with a lot of awesome songs, but it's really hard to beat Reply as a debut. People can reasonably argue about which is the absolute best debut, but regardless of who you are a fan of, Replay will be near the top. Not only is it a good song, the part allocations, ad libs, and choreography are top notch. And it was given to five multi-talented individuals who have had amazing solo careers and would be main vocalists, dancers, and/or rappers in any group. It's just legendary. If you were to ask Kpop idols what they think is the best debut, a lot of them are going to say Replay.
That's what people keep saying. NME listed it as the number 3 SHINee song ever out of 170 something. Pretty crazy that it would hold up over almost all songs after it. Thanks for stopping by.

Replay was my first ever introduction to SHINEEand that was about five years ago. I fell INLOVE with them ever since❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ This is definitely one my favorite debut song and mv I ever came across. The SHINee members are sooo talented and also FUNNY love that about them!!!!!

I like 2pm, but SHINee is just unbeatable. Best k pop grouo ever.
10 out of 10 is iconic for 2pm...their live performances just better than the MV. I'll be honest...not a song I would listen to but...as part of 2pms discography...I get a bit nostalgic about it. 2pm just got better and better as they matured. My favorite: ADTOY. It's a song that is timeless where 10 out of 10 is very much "dated" to that 2008.

As most people say Shinee def had the better debut but 2pm’s debut is a lot more fun live, like through fun stage performances and audience interaction, like not enough to make it up to Replay as a debut, but it’s a lot closer if you like the 2pm live charm.
But this comparison is nice because personally these debut songs have very different purposes somehow.
