This is, in my book, the best album made in my lifetime. I'm 60 years old, bought over 2500 albums over the last 45 years, and this one is the GOAT. Every note played, every pause, every word feels good. There is existential solace in this music. 'Only angels look before they tread'.
Im in the same path ,my friend and struggle,I wish you searching the best in world sounds, real humans sounds, real talents of the past time,
I'm same age as you and this is without doubt up there in the top 5
Intelligent, soulful, complex, divine.
So true TT GOAT.
got lost in this many many times!
2021.....chi lo ascolta ancora ?
Bellissimo!!!
Never tire of listening to this album. Excellent.
A good taste in music brought me here
I am 42, I love music and i have discovered this album yesterday....how is this possible !??!
Same. I am 44 and just discovered this album last month!!!!
@@dorfkramer English via Google translate: In our backwater, the only thing that was known from Talk Talk was “It's a shame”. It wasn't until last year that I realized there was more to it than that.😲
I've just discovered this album 37 years later! What an album!! Beautiful music. I remember their hits but this album is sublime!!
This album is 36 years old today (17/02/2022), and what a fine album it is.
Hollis was a genius.
36 years YOUNG ...it was before its TIME as in back to the FUTURE ?
I still get goosebumps every time I listen to this album.... stunningly beautiful... truly inspirational... RIP Mark
"You have good taste!" 😊
What a great decade that was for many reasons. Left school 81 and started my apprenticeship. The music was brilliant from sixties, seventies and what was created in the eighties. Lots of free festivals. OK the cold war was on but the world feels more dangerous today, April 2022. Life was much less complicated back then as well. Regards.

I'm crying while i listen to this LP. What a great band!
I came to know this album on a flight back from Morocco.
The last time with my father who died 3 months later.
Life´s what you make it.
Im so sorry for your loss, but your father's spirit will always be with you, as long as your vibe is high and not in sadness as spirit can't be around those that are sad/negative or in distress. Remember all the best times you had with him and all the things he taught you. That's what I do for both my parents who are now flying free! Bless you and your family with love and peace.
A gift to have this music , to remember him by 🙏 sending blessings 🙏
J'écoute tellement souvent ses morceaux de Mark hollis un véritable régal et que dire de l'instrumentalisation .....RIP Mister

My favorite Talk Talk album after all these years.
It continues that brilliant new wave sound from the first 2 albums, but does it way better.
I love Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock too, but The Colour of Spring remains their best to me.

@@redskies4530 hmmm, quirky but not a patch on TT, in my humble opinion.
A terrible loss to music when Hollis passed way before his time. A towering force and an artist who absolutely refused point blank to compromise his integrity. Rest in power Mark.
Always a moment for this band...🙏
My 15 year old self bought this. Still speaks to me now.
What a voice, what style, what an album, what a band!
U said it all! 💯
This album is one of my all time favourites, I was captivated by the poetic lyrics and musical presence that was evoked that seemed to transport me to another dimension! This album touched my soul right from the first hearing. I was always very spiritual as a teenager and felt quite isolated because of this but this album connected me to something that I had only felt from Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" album. Each song is arranged and produced to perfection and each brings a plethora of emotions and I feel truly blessed to have born into this era so that I could enjoy growing up to such genius. The key changes are so expertly done that they bring goosebumps! There are no mediocre tracks on this album! RIP Mark Hollis, you and your band created something so sublime and I thank you all! So heartwarming to see how many others commenting here, truly appreciate this outstandingly creative work! Bless you all!

Apart from the wife and kids the only thing in life I really need is Talk Talk. Makes me happy, makes me sad, makes me cry, makes me feel love, feels my heart with emotion. Heavenly in its purity and love.
So lovely that you open your heart and Talk Talk is a big part of that-no better listening. I experienced a lot of grief and loss in the late 70s. My beautiful husband drowned in the Thames. we used to live on a boat in Hampton Court. Our baby was 17 months when Pete died. I used to say I dont believe in anything unless I see it for myself. I saw people unknown to me waiting for Pete round the kitchen table about 9 months before he died (spirits) at night when I needed to pee. They were always there. and they gave me the eebie jeebies. Anyway about 5 years after he died I almost did a U turn and my mind and consciousness began to open more and more. I went vegetarian at 28 years (1982 ish) . Somewhere in the mix came Talk Talk Colour of Spring and blew my mind and still is xxx
In spring 1983 I rented a terraced cottage house in Glastonbury Town for 2 weeks. The dining room had french doors leading to the garden. I just had a radio/tape player and that room had amazing acoustics. You could hear it so well in every part of the house. I used to play this album a lot and Tears for Fears 'Mad World' and 'Shout' so very amazing
Jednostavno neponovljivo , muzika zauvek
So fine and elegant work of art
When I first heard this miracle 27 years ago, I had an epiphany: yes, God exists. This is the only album I can listen to for days non stop. My heart tightens and I get tears in my eyes. It will be played at my funeral.
I love what you wrote...my eyes teared in empathy.
This Album is a masterpiece. If I was going to be stranded on an Island, I would bring this Album as one of the most Important things in my Survival Kit. RIP Mark Hollis.

This album got me from coke of 8 years’ saved my life! Seriously! Now free on the worst in my life! Love him for all he did!... this album & song titles that were an answer 2 why I finally fought to give it up! I best the devil!
I think there are still bands that write music for the soul, the trouble is that since all the small record labels got bought up by the giants there is nowhere for genuinely creative and interesting bands to go. The big labels have no interest in creativity, they have only interest in money.

Don't think they were underrated. After this album, they, their sound, moved away from mainstream. No more singles, nor hits or use of a song in an American beer commercial. "Life's What You Make It" for defunct Michelob Beer.
They evolved, rather Mark did.

In 1986 (if memory serves), Mark Radcliffe came back for a brief stint at Piccadilly Radio after a few years in London as a producer at the BBC. One night on his show he played 'Happiness is Easy'. It was one of the most memorable music experiences of my life. I felt the music hanging in the air around me like a mist rising from a meadow on a Summer's day.

If Talk Talk were underrated, this album in particular is the one that deserves more credit for going unexpected places. At the time, I conflated It's My Life and Life's What You Make It; both apparently about "life", with excellent videos. When Spirit of Eden and then Laughing Stock came along, I had realized how unique and rich Hollis's musical ideas had become, but going back and listening to it now, and watching the footage from Montreaux, The Colour of Spring is every bit as ground breaking as the two albums that followed... with the addition of radio friendly singles.
I think we all feel the same.
36 years old yet still fresh as a daisy...
I sent this song to a girlfriend of mine in Eastern Ukraine when the conflict broke out in 2014. I sent to ease her mind. She got it. She felt the sounds I felt. When we connect with music we really connect.
Love Mark Hollis's voice.....haunting died Feb.25,2019...sick after reading that
Not the first I have discovered my crush is in another realm.

Blessings to you!

You are so right. They were great days.
Amen to that it's one hit after another from the beginning to the end your musical genius that I got turned onto in the 80s and still love listening to it to this day
I love his style his Tunes come up really loud and it builds up and he doesn't sing during that most of the times and then he brings the music down when he wants you to hear his message this is something that rock and rollers never learned and never did ever all rock bands do is bang the drums loud as they can scream as loud as they can. you can't understand a word but Mark, this guy was a musical genius God blesses his soul rest in peace mark ! he really knew what the audience wanted they wanted to hear and know his message without having to buy the album and read the lyrics LOL
Exactly!
Yeah. This is perfection itself. So it never gets old. Peace
The opening drum beats are fantastic and from then on it gets even better.
Absolutely talented band! Musics, lyrics, energy. Eighty time but not eighty music. So sad i would never had chance to see them on live. Rest in peace Mark Hollis. And thank you for this moments of emotion.

Hi I recommend a song and video here on CZcams called 'Where I Come From' by Robert Nix
time it's time..........the perfection of sound and choir.....Stupendo, meraviglioso, sublime....the peace of the mind.
Sometimes I can listen to this album and just sing along and enjoy it. Other times, it just guts me and I have to reach for the tissues. Today, it's a combination of the two reactions. This is why I've always loved them.
This came out when I was a sophomore in hs and right in the middle of my first and greatest true love relationship. Listening now almost 4 decades later I am in that moment with her. Because of the melancholy nature of his voice, I listened when she and I were good and when we weren't. I was SURELY CELEBRATING life at the time. Strongly believe 86 was the greatest year of my time here other than the year my daughter was born.
There isn't another voice like his and the music, like PF or Tool take you places, like a natural high. Just doesn't get any better IMO.
An epic timeless album
Dark, melancholy, sublime, poignant, it resonates somewhere very deep, speaking eloquently & truthfully of real existential angst...reminds me of questions I didnt know how to articulate as a tripped, spaced out teenager... prior my becoming a Hindu/Krishna monk, which took me straight up into Divine Union and transcendental bliss on a moment to moment basis.
I love to revisit this album as it reminds me of my angst ridden youth, before I knew there were answers to the deepest questions of existence...a truly beautiful, haunting, timeless cry from the heart..just beyond description...a classic
I'm 60 and still appreciate an excellent album
What a testament to time to be so privileged to have grown up in the 80’s and to had the joy to experience bands like Talk Talk and not really know the full scope of how important they were until later on in life and then you realize that you’re part of something that was bigger than music and bigger than life.RIP Mark Hollis

I never get sick of their music. Every now and then I will hear It's My Life while I am shopping. It always make me smile that most people will never know just how good they are.
