Bro is about to get a bunch of car enthusiests into overlanding
Already in , was waiting this type of vid ✌🏻
It’s too late for that 😂 Have a lifted Truck/SUV and a slammed racecar
That overlanding disease already happened
I'm here for it lol
Yo! Contractor/build science nerd here. A few things if you want to make the truck a little better insulated- the windows are going to be a huge heat source. Most tint is just for darkening the windows. I’d highly recommend ceramic tint on all of the windows to reflect a little uv/heat. (Won’t help with cold tho)
Side note- if you’ve never tinted your vehicle with ceramic tint, it’s a game changer, make sure to “tint” your windshield too 70% looks no different than no tint.
I’m unfamiliar with the product y’all installed for insulation and I hope it works well! If not, I’d go to your local box store and buy some sheet foam installation. The thicker the better. Probably 1” to match the square tube steel framing. With double side tape it on or hot glue. Score the back to fit any curves.
You’d either have to paint it or wrap it in carpet, but it would be much more comfortable.
Rig is sick. Ready for p race car content. 🤙🏼
sick thank you dude!
Definitely go with the 1" foam insulation at Lowes/Home Depot. The stuff you used is not going to work very good.
A van build would go so hard 🔥
More truck pleeeeeease! These truck vids are so good. Makes me want to build my Tacoma into an overland rig
Thanks for watching man!
tacomas the best for it
You should check out the Hammer Safe Locks for the Smart Cap. They allow you to lock/unlock the canopy with your truck’s key fob buttons.

Awesome video as always Dustin. Dustin if you want to do some overlanding with your rig you need to install a battery bank and some water storage. I recommend for your battery bank is a Jackery portable power station and for water storage lifesaver water jerrycans.
Is Tim happy? I personally want to dive deeper into the brand behind the scenes and Tim. I think it would be a cool vid/series.
I would suggest a magnettic screen or pop in screen for the cap windows so that you have more airflow without letting bugs in :)
great idea!
Decked truck bed systems needs to make a slimmer sliding box
As someone who loves cars and overlanding/camping I am all for more camping videos
definitely gonna happen!
You should build a roof rack for more storage for the surf and etc and get you a power inverter so it won’t bother ur truck and power a heater get also a smoke alarm just incase dont wanna get poisoned ! Once you get a roof rack u can build a slide out top for some shade or you can pre buy already made
Dut you gotta paint the outside of the bed canopy white, that combined with the insulation should make it livable enough
Truck content / build out is always great to see! Looks rad, Dut!
The ultimate camper truck is the Chevy Avalanche. It's the Suburban chassis. There is no fixed wall separating the cargo bed and the cabin area, instead the wall and window are removable so you can carry super long 10ft cargo. And you can comfortably sleep because of the unlimited space and crawl into the driver seat with ease. No need to exit the rear to go to the driver seat.
Red light doesn’t attract bugs like white does, just fyi :)
USB rechargeable fans help a lot too with the heat
Why not double-side the fabric for the curtains? Then you get the vibe inside and out. 🤙🏼
I think your idea for a van build would be awesome. Get a cargo van and build it out. I wonder if they make them in a 4x4.
You could do a white vinyl wrap material on the roof to reduce heat. I hope to do that with mine.
Smartcap has a new latch that can be locked and opened from the inside. Reach out to them about it.
I would definitely add a fan to sleep more comfortable. Also a pop up tent ! You can set up under 2 minutes.
I was hoping to get a Smart Cap for my truck but at the time I was shopping they were not making one for an 8’ bed. They said it was in the works though. They might have one available today, I’m not sure. I settled on a custom build from USA Camper Shell. It’s nice but nothing compared to what you have. Enjoy that thing. Cheers!
For my truck build i bought a bluetti power bank and a small fan to keep me cool. You can also do a small ceiling skylight + fan vent meant for RVs. Ive seen people install those on their truck caps
You need a Max Fan to circulate the air
Trucks and Vans are so much a part of car culture its good to see Dustin. Love Cars AND Trucks n Vans especially cool ones.
have a similar setup on my 2020 1500 custom, I bought a paint matched camper top though. I know the deckd drawers take a bunch of head room away but looks sick all put together with the camper top
Loving the overlander content Dut! One suggestion I have is to get a small bug repellent device to keep in the back of the truck! We use a Thermacell one whenever we go camping and it helps quite a bit especially with mosquitos. Definitely gonna be waiting on that camp and cook vid! 🤙🏻
Love this. Ive been outfitting my Nissan Titan for the last couple years, using it for everything i can, same as you. Having the fun cars is awesome, but theres just something about getting out there with a nice setup and enjoying the outdoors. Looking forward to more!
Dustin! Have you ever thought about going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England? It's on this weekend and on the livestream I already saw many beauties such as: Mad Mike's rortary swapped 1000bhp McLaren P1, McLaren Solus, Calsonic R-32 , A Ton of older F1 cars, CanAm cars and so much more! on Sunday RedBull is going to bring 18 out of it's 20 F1 race cars for a run with Max,Checo,Danny Ric,Coulthard, Horner and many others driving them. I'd love to see your report of the event!
I absolutely want to venture over to the UK for some shows 🤙🏼
@@dustiinw Well, I really hope you get to do that!! Looking forward to the reports already! :)
Big Rig Mother Trucking Dut is back lets go so sick thing is looking epic nicely done 👌👍
I’ve seen some guys add on to the cap awnings. Would def give u some more coverage out behind or to the side of the truck for cooking and hanging out like a chair sit area .
You can treat the truck bed cab like the interior of a car. Maybe a suede starlight. Checkout what throtl did with the dream truck build.
Dustin, please look into some of the Australian companies, Mitts Alloy build incredible canopy setups. You’re only just scratching the surface.
I’d recommend putting reflectix inside your curtains. It keeps so much heat out. Also legends surf club with meet ups?!
ill do that!
Bro, i love the truck build and more camping content man!
You need to get an anti-condensation mat or that back is going to get swampy, In colder temps it'll be dripping in there.
You could layer it ontop of the insulation.
This is just as fun as watching the other car content 😃 Are the cap windows tinted with ceramic tint? That by itself should make a difference. What about ventilation so you can breathe well while sleeping with the cap closed??
Sick! Would love diy camping van build too.
More overland videos like this! Great job, very cool!
Great setup buts needs a topper rack !
you should take tim to camping adventures haha. maybe some offroad content! or you guys can maybe try Gorman one day and practice at the 4x4 practice area, so many cool obstacles. Always take my landcruiser 80 series there to practice and have fun and they got camp spots too.
Definetly recommend getting Overland270 awning and a shower awning from kickass or Joolca. Then invest in jackery portable charger with solar panel, etc. Lots to make it an overland truck / Hauler
Bro does everything and anything car related. Absolutely love it
I would get your favorite style of vinyl wrap and do the interior of it. You could have black suede, too.
Hard shell roof top tent. Fill the back with cooking equipment, fridge, battery, solar, other camping equipment. Go out somewhere for a week or so without having to go into town.
Or get a caravan and go Glamping.
I just wanna give a shout out to those Edward Scissors ✂️, we solute you extra long scissors.
You need to try and do a starlight headliner on the cap for at night time !
I wouldn't use any carpet. You don't want bugs infesting it and laying egg in. Plus you'd have to vacuum it often to minimize any allergens.....or getting any grease on it from hauling the tools and tires and such...... If anything double up on that stick on insulation you are adding...... ✌✌.
Your lifestyle stuff is really fantastic. Great information with good vibes. Cheers.
gotta get that @mav and @truckhouselife inspiration for any truck build
I absolute like your Truck Dustin
Thanks man!
Those Kingpin lights are fire!
Put a rod on the top of the window curtain so its not sagging
Hey Dut, if you paint match the cap, the bed will be a lot cooler than with it being black.
Yeah, very true!
Info on that gameboy? Lol
Wow welcome to Overlanding 🔥
Another option for the windows you can always tint them super dark
Truck build turned out sick
I wonder if it would be possible to run some of those sheets that can cool or heat, it could be a good way to keep cool
This is just as fun as watching the other car content 😃 Are the cap windows tinted with ceramic tint? That by itself should make a difference.
paint your shell to white!!!
Black will take heat from sun ant get super hot!!!
White is the only color that reflect sun heat if you want cooler environment...
Try leave your White car and other color car outside for couple hours under sun and try touch roof of vehicle....
You will feel difference.
Reach out to RSI. They have new dual-function latches available though from reviews they’re still finicky so most people only use them on rear hatch since side hatches automatically lift. Also ask for latch covers to help prevent the locks from freezing if you’re ever in super cold or icey areas. Lastly, you can spray a little dry PTFE lube in the key locks to keep them from ever sticking.
I definitely will, thank you!
@@dustiinw Set up that cook and camp. I’m sure there’s a bunch of us locally that are in the truck scene. Lots of mods for you left to discover.
I love these type of videos,
Could you somehow get a cover that pops up when needed? Im not sure if thats a thing or not
love the vision for this truck 🙌
Love the overland build… don’t get me wrong I love the car builds but this to me is where it’s at… 😅
It’s so much fun!
bug screens for the side windows and a fan to blow some air around.
Bro, for the ceiling use pvc sheet 1/4 thick and glued whit “4200” install the sheet previously cut. Need support, use 2x4 or something that hold the pvc sheet on place u want…
I’ll try this!
Change the curtains to black out you'll be happier with day sleeping or tint the windows to 0% and eliminate curtains. You don't necessarily need to see through windows
Overland build
What is that game boy you are playing on!?!? Hell yea fire red!!!!
Oh yea just a good truck brother!!!
Now you need to get a kei van 🚐 and do a camper van
Definitely love the truck videos 💪🏼💪🏼 still calling it the great white buffalo 😂
It’s definitely the great white buffalo!
Did you add a lever to open the truck bed from inside?
Those sunglasses 😂😂😂😂 lol
Gave me a jump scare when I saw it lol
@@IceyDrewF1 Welcome to the club ;)
You should build a VW bus that’s main purpose is to take you surfing
Haha yes VW bus so sick!
As someone who is converting a van I 100% recommend if you are wanting to. I don’t regret anything
Man if I had the space I totally would!
Awesome build! We have a similar one!! Where did you find that mattress?
I can’t wait for more content with the R34
Love the rig videos buddy!
I actually love this vlog whichni didn’t expect hahah
3mm plywood cut to shape and carpeted for walls
off road minivan!
Bro really nice! You should do more camping videos 😊
i definitely will!
@@dustiinw it was so good
@@dustiinw I loved it
more camping videos please
Maybe a generator for some air-conditioning
Preparing for Japan in a Van rd 2 I see
Why not a GFC or Super Pacific camper shell with tent? It would open so much more space for you to store stuff
Because it would make the truck too tall. The truck is so big, going any higher I wouldn’t be able to fit anywhere
Been looking for a mattress like that instead of an air mattress for the rig. Got a link or any info on it?
Looks good Dustin love it mannn!!
Just curious, do the lights run on the truck battery? If so how does that effect leaving them on when the truck is off? Does it kill the battery?
if i was you i would add like a fridge compartment for food and drinks 👍👍
3:02 he reached on the other side to unlock it….. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. that won’t work with the tailgate up. 😂😂😂😂
Dustin that 2500 needs some weight reduction. She's a little choked up let the whirly bird spool.
damn any bigger scissors lol. where can I buy ?
Why aren’t you getting a roof top tent? Here in Australia it’s a no brainer.
I rather be self contained inside the bed to save the overhead space.
@@dustiinw Makes sense! Awesome video BTW!
What happened to the overlander XJ??
Did you say you want to build a van?! Lol. When you do, im ready to camp w ya.
Truck needs a sick wrap job
Keep this coming ❤️
Homie went from Stance guy, to Drift guy, to JDM only content guy, to overlanding 👑.
Tim bro wife might have a side hustle there going on with the shade 😂
