    I gotta say I’m blown away by warm audio. I think I might have to consider myself a fan boy now. All their clones sound amazing, pres, comps, eq, and all their mics. They even started making guitar stuff like pedals and di boxes. They also make the nicest looking cables on the market hands down. Warm audio gold.

    • @johnwalter6410
      @johnwalter6410 Před 3 lety +3

      I wouldn't say amazing. They are ok for entry level hardware. I've owned the EQs and 1176. The 1176 sounded like dog shit. I now own the purple mc77 and a real UA 1176LN. And there is absolutely no comparison when you hear them next to each other. The warm 1176 is more like a saturation box. The eq's sound "ok". Again. I own numerous other pultecs (audioscape, wes audio, goly, D'Anca ) and there is no comparison. Especially with the D'Anca. But you can't buy a D'Anca unfortunately because it's a unicorn. It's a handmade Italian pultec that I had to do a voltage conversion on. But like I said. The warms are mediocre against higher priced ones. Against a real OG pultec they sound amateur. But if you are just starting out buying hardware and don't have a few grand to drop then yes. By all means. The bus comp isn't bad at all. There 1073 pre isn't bad either. But stay away from that 1176

      @@johnwalter6410 Hey John, how this Warm EQP really compares to the AudioScape counterpart? I'm tempted to get the AS ones but they have to be shipped overseas (I live in France) but I can get the WA one directly here in EU... is a real huge difference considering the AudioScape ones are slightly expensive? Let me know your thoughts please. Thanks!

    • @legacyShredder1
      @legacyShredder1 Před rokem +3

      @@PereRevert The Audioscape versions are a little better, and they're a little closer to my actual Pultec branded EQs. The Warm Audio EQ is still really nice, and I own two pairs of them. I use the Warm EQP on tracking and mixing just as much as I use my name brand Pultecs. The WA-EQP just has less headroom than Audioscape or the originals. That's not a deal breaker for me, not at all. I just have to pad the DB on Warm's a little if I'm trying to push them really hard in terms of input volume. I have other $3,000+ hardware units and EQs that I also have to pad the input so I can control the harmonic distortion in a way that I like it to be.
      I don't buy clones because I think they're identical to the originals. My originals don't sound exactly like other originals. I buy clones when I like how they sound independently on their own, without comparing them to anything else.

      @@PereRevert You're welcome. Be careful taking advice from people online and in person, including me, about gear. The guy above you, John Walter, said WA76 comp sounds like dog shit, and I'm sure he's 100% right that they don't work for him in his case in the way he wants to use them. I have a few WA76's and multiples of the original Urei 1176. Some WA products work great for me and a lot of other people. Who is right? Me and all the other people or John Walter? We're all equally right, including John Walter. We all use these pieces of equipment very differently from one another with different thresholds and infinitely different variables. I don't know what's right for you, because I'm not you. I don't know what you consider to sound great.
      Keep that in mind, and make some killer music that you like.

    You should be able to route the kick to a mono track instead of stereo btw. There's usually a way to do that with VSTs. That way you can process as per normal micd kick - mono.

    I have 2 eqp-wa on my 2 bus and love them. But i got to say that after some testing with plugin doctor, to match the eq curves from both units i needed to set them differently. For exemple boost 1.5 @ 60hz on one unit and boost 2 the second unit. Just be aware of this. Btw, yes i calibrated both unit (without the eq engaged) with a sine wave using the screws on the back before testing the curves with plugin doctor.

    I have a question. Why do people put some kind of damper on the headstock above the nut? Do new guitars require damping, or is it just a gas? I've been playing guitar for 50 years and never had any need for a damper on the strings above the nut. I understand that some Floyd Rose systems make a rattling noise from the springs under the bridge but have no idea why people are putting a damper wrap on the headstock. Any answers for the wrapping would be appreciated.

    • @jordanmiller9486
      @jordanmiller9486 Před 3 lety

      From what I understand, it's basically just to keep the strings behind the nut from freely ringing out and adding anything to the sound. Obviously wouldn't make huge difference in anything other than very high gain situation. Kinda keeps things tighter and whatnot.

    Thank you so much for this great video 👍🏽
    I wanted to achieve the same results like you. So I bought two wa eqp‘s and try to connect them.
    Here I have a question:
    How do you connect two mono Wa Eqp‘s into one Stereo Bus? I’m using Cubase 11pro and as I inserted the two devices the stereo field was completely wrong.
    Is this the only way to separate the stereo in two mono tracks and set then the wa eqp‘s into each of this tracks?
    I would be so nice if you could give me and also and another guest here on the page a tipp, how we can be successful here.
    Thank you 🙏
