The fact that they misunderstood what makes the llorona so scary. They turned her into a typical ghost
what made her so scary if you don’t mind me asking?
@@marrelisa its scary cause as a latino kid you're always told that if you misbehave la llorona is gonna come an take you.
@@Ghxstbxy_z That doesnt really explain why shes scary though just sounds like another ghost lol
Rozz to me what makes La Llorona scary is the fact that the kids did nothing wrong. Like, as a kid, it was like, “the mother killed her children because of someone else’s bad behavior, nothing that the children did.” If that makes sense.
@@marrelisa this might be a regional thing, but growing up, hearing a woman's echoing weeping out of nowhere was an omen. It meant that a child was in deep peril and because back then, kids would play outside in the dark, it was a constant fear of one night hearing that. It also made being alone all the more scary because you were always afraid of hearing that with no one else to lean on for protection. The tale was supposedly based on something that actually happened. La Llorona was said to be a real woman who did drown her kids in a lake and that's what made it scary. From what I remember, she was crazy to begin with. I think I heard that she had suffered from postpartum depression from both of her kids and never recovered and her husband couldn't take it anymore and ended up cheating. She found out and that drove her to complete madness. She drowned her kids and when she came back to her senses, she realized what she did and wept for them before drowning herself as well. Don't know about you, but any kid would find that scary.

They definitely should have filmed this somewhere in Mexico, that alone would have given the film a unique vibe and atmosphere. And I know it's a reach but call up Robert Rodriguez or Alfanso and ask for a little help on the structure to give it due respect. Another Nun... Annabelle...jump scare fest.
I think it would've been even better to make in some latin American country also. To give the universe a bigger sort of space if know what I mean. Itll be cool to see a movie when all these freaks come together and like you see reports all over the world.
Even better to have it take place where the folk tale originates from, or even weave into play some of the other creepy Mexican locations such as the Island of Dolls
@@gamonstudios I love your idea of that. But I'd personally like it for it to happen in another country like Guatemala or El Salvador. Both my ethnic countries that people don't kmow much of. Immeadiately after telling people I am latino they assume that I am mexican

There's a few diffrent versions of La llorona but the one I heard first is that she had three kids and lived with an abusive husband. She loved her children but her husband tought she was crazy, he drank and they fought a lot. One night during an argument, her husband picked up a chair, threw it at her head and she fell unconscious. When she woke up, her husband had destroyed the house and ran away with the children. She then started wandering around the country, looking for her children and crying everynight. She was so captivated by finding her children that she didn't even realized she had died and she is so desperate that she would take ANY children she found and if they weren't hers, she would kill them.
Dude, keep doing yo thing. You are great
R. KELLY-ED HER KIDS IN THE CLOSET IM SCREAMING
Lmao
For all those wondering, here’s the full La LLorona. (From what I heard)
So it all started where she was a woman who was known for her beauty in a small town. After, a prince came to that very town and decided to marry and have 2 children. The prince was a traveler, so went on many vacations and brought back gifts for his wife and children. Slowly, he stopped being gifts and had his full on attention on only his children. Until one day, he never came back. This made the woman distraught and so one day she and her two boys went to a river when they saw a familiar carriage pass them. It was the prince with a new wife, wearing expensive clothing. The prince only talked to the boy, purposely avoiding his once wife. This made her so angry she threw both children into the raging river. After seeing their bodies float down she realized what she done. She then threw herself into the river, hoping to join them into the afterlife. However, this did not prove to be true. She had committed the 2 ultimate sins. Murder and suicide. She was then bound as a spirit, between earth and the spirit realm, forever searching for her lost children. Although, if you are young and she mistakes you for being her child, she will throw you into that same river.
Well good thing I’m not a boy hehehe 😅 right?
@@tamarindo4352 it's children not 2 boys

Fantastic review! I wanted to find a film review from someone who grew up with this story, and you definitely answered every question I had; thank you!! 😂
And good news, from a legal standpoint, “La Llorona” falls into the “prior art” / public domain category, so better filmmakers should definitely go for it. The only IP that Warner owns is the film, screenplay, and anything directly related to their unique and specific additions to the story that is not established as prior art (like, say, exact recreations of their specific La Llorona ghost design - for merchandise, figurines, etc).
So curious, are there any Bruja / Brujos / Brujeria films that get your seal of approval?

Bradador is a specter that lets out screams and dark howls around the houses or in the paths frequented by him / her.
Although it does not have a defined shape, what distinguishes this night ghost from other spirits are the screams of wail for its penance, which leave the listeners of the haunted region standing on their feet.
Its origin is linked to the creature Zorra Berradeira, which scares couples asleep with their horrible screams in the Portuguese region of Trás-os-Montes.
As in the Portuguese variant, Bradador is a soul who has committed too many sins and cannot find divine rest. And he is from Brazil!
