I'm catching up on vids as I've had a lot on recently. Really interesting to hear your thoughts on The Wickwire Watch. I heard good things from early reviews (though I'm often a bit suspicious of them) and then some mixed opinions. You've sold me on it, so I've just got it on kindle for 99p. The next two books are also the same price, if they have them on Amazon US.
I agree with everything you said about Warbreaker. I liked the romance between between the two characters, but agree his romance can be a bit simplistic and lack a touch of finesse. Lightsong's dad joke humour was also a bit much. As you said, the plot, magic and worldbuilding were great, and I enjoyed the path the characters took. It also gave it 4*.
I like how you see the positives in the books recommended - you either get a book you like or learn something about what you don't like, which is also helpful.
- Spoilers for Warbreaker and Stormlight Archive -
I think there are 2 characters from Warbreaker in Stormlight. Vasher is Zahel, the swordmaster, and Vivenna is Azure, Highmarshal of the Wall Guard. Nightblood is Sword-Nimi, the sword that Szeth uses.
I'm really glad you enjoyed Cinder! I love the whole series! I did a reread of the series this year via audio.
lunar chronicles is so good! Do you have a favorite book?
@_iwouldratherbereading Oh, don't make me decide!!! I love how everything ties up in Winter.
Yay! I'm so glad to hear you loved it. Which did you prefer the audio or physical read? Or does one just accentuate the other?
@@Danni.Dabbles I thought the narrator did a great job with the characters' voices. It was fun to experience the books in a different way this time!
The only books I've read of these are Cinder and Warbreaker.. and I definitely agree with you assessments of them
Glad we agree. I'm excited to continue on with the Lunar Chronicles and there is always another Sanderson to read!
I have Cinder on my bookshelf and hope to get to it soon. Loved hearing your positive thoughts about it. Not familiar with the other books.
I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up. It really was a unique take on Cinderella. I'm a sucker for cyborgs apparently!
I am glad you enjoyed The wickwire watch, it was one of my favourite books from last year :) I also read the second book and omg, what a ride! It will be longer than a trilogy but imo it is totally worth it! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about The spider key. Good news for you, there are some answers ;p but .... also other questions. A cool detail, look at the spine at the bottom and remember that name ;) Enjoy!!
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! It's always good to hear the second book doesn't disappoint. I'm a fan of long series so this should be good! Ooo! Thank you for the easter egg! I'll be sure to look out for that. Thank you!!
I just finished the Lunar Chronicles this month - Cinder (and the characters from that who carry on) was my favourite of the four.
I rated Warbreaker the same and felt the same about some of the concepts/characters that you hint at. I loved the magic, the story was interesting to read, but a fly in the ointment here and there. Still very good though and I'm hoping to continue picking away at Sanderson's catalog.
I may not be available during the live show Saturday, but will definitely watch the playback!
I'm not sure if I'm glad Cinder was your favorite. đ€Ł There are so many series I have read where the first is my favorite and I just feel like the rest of the series is okay. I guess I'll find out.
You are making your way through Sandersons backlist like nobodies business! It is a very intimidating task as he writes faster than I read.
No worries! I get it. Let us know what you think when you get to it!
@@Danni.Dabbles Cinder was my favourite, but I've heard other people loving book 3 a lot. Different preferences is all. I hope you enjoy them all whenever you feel like continuing.
Thatâs good to know about our share of night- Iâm never good with reading child abuse or SA
No it wasn't great. Would not recommend.
The Wickwire Watch is supposed to be 7 books long! Only 3 are out currently. The 4th one comes out later this year I believe. Iâve only read the first two, but book 2 was soooo good!
7 books!! That is exciting. I'm glad to hear book 2 didn't disappoint. I look forward to continuing the series!
