I'm new to the Star Wars X-wing community. I'm excited to see this pack come with a tie bomber. I guess it's because I saw it in Empire strikes back as a kid. Love it.
A friend just brought over the core set last night, first time I’ve even heard of the game but it was awesome! I had a bunch of individual ships in my Amazon cart until I saw this video now I think I’ll wait for the squadron packs to come out
I like how you get a bomber, a pricier choice then 2 cheaper ships. With the more basic ships it really lets you cover your bases if you're not sure what to get. I never liked Tie swarms but Always love me a good Vader with Engines because burr

I am eagerly awaiting the other factions. I have been playing since the original release, so I don’t need these ships at all. But I never purchased any of the prequel era stuff, and only some of the sequel era stuff. So this can be useful for veteran players depending on their past purchasing.
There needs to also be a large sku item IMO that is a 200 vs 200 starter. One stop shop starter for 2 people to open a box and play a game as intended. GW have these for warhammer.
I could be wrong, but I think most minis games offer starter sets and army packs that give you a bunch of stuff, but still less than required for a full standard points army list.
Got mine for 61 Euros some days ago, absolutely amazing value if you ask me
X wing really needs to get to a point where It is intuitive to a non player what to pick up to start playing with no prior knowledge. It’s a mess RN looking a product shelves. Also bombers finally
I'm actually having a lot more fun with 1st Edition right now than 2nd. Easier to learn, easier to adapt to added rules, and one doesn't have to go online and look at an ever-changing point list to build squadrons.
These boxes are great for new players.
My opinions.
1. 4 ships, 7 pilots. So, not alot of options for list builds.
2. The Standard Loadout cards. I think this is the direction of AMG. Little to no customization.
Look at MCP for an wxample.
Out of the early ships, I like X wings and Adv ties the most.
Is the 2.0 red A-wings only going to come in this rebel starter, or do you think they will sell the Red A wings separately? Will Tie Bombers be sold individually?

Would getting this and the rebel starter set be enough to start playing? Would that make for two equal teams? Would you need the core set also? Thanks
100% yes! Both packs are designed to start playing against one another. You no longer need the core set since it is outdated.
I've been out of the game since a little after 2.0 came out. What would be a good resource to see what I might buy next and a good squad builder. Also any rules changes Atomic mass games has implemented since then.
BTW my collection is pretty large and includes multiples of most fighters by the time 1st ed ended and 1 of each of the large ships for Empire and rebels with some scum and very few resistance/first order (only 1st ed gards for them).
Yasb.app and launchbay next for squad builders. Rules changes are covered in our how to play videos. And far as a resource on what to buy next, there are some buying guides online or In reddit. Only thing you need to update to 2.5 is objective tokens. If you have an epic ship or epic pack from 2.0 then you should already have them. We also have a getting started with xwing video
So I'm new to this game, I have the core set and a couple expansions, planning on playing the first time this friday. I've watched the how to play and the 2.5 update, currently listening to the new player who dis episode of the pod cast. My main question about the rules is, should I read the 2.0 rule book and the updated rules reference or just ignore the 2.0 book and only read the reference?
Just read the rules reference. It is much larger than the standard rule book, but it covers everything and since it is an online pdf it gets updated by AMG. The squadron pack will have an updated rule book as well.
Will be interesting to see what they pick for a Scum starter. The Fugitives and Collaborators box contains 2 y-wings and a Hawk. Will they repeat the ships? Fangs are a no-brainer. Will they bring back the Star Viper or Khirax? Whatever they add I really hope they make the ships viable, because small ships in Scum are pretty bad right now and they need more options.
I am not sure I have room for any more HWK's LUL. I would think this would be a great opportunity to include Kihraxz Fighter, but that is wishful thinking. Probably Y-Wings, M3a interceptor and fang\z-95. Would love a StarViper.
@@ReconPaint Given that Scum's entire thing is supposed to be deviating from the norm (since they're assorted mercenaries and criminals rather than being a unified "faction"), perhaps their starter set will contain 4 different ships instead of the 1-2-1 format that the Rebel and Imperial sets have (and which Republic, Separatist, Resistance, and First Order will almost certainly mirror).
My guess, 2 M3-A Interceptors. 1 fang, then one Star Viper or Khirax.
If they 100% want to force a bomber in, then BTL-A4 Y-Wing would take place of the Star Viper or Khirax. The fang is really sick but each set has 2 2/3 red/green fighters which is why I assume two M3-As.
There is a possibility of 2 fangs, then one of the elites with the Y wing but I find that vary unlikely seeing how the M3-As are basically the counterpart to Ties/A-wings.
I don’t need these ships (have 6 bombers/5+ X1s/10+ TIEs) but I’m buy thing these anyway, want the Standard Loadout cards, the alt. damage decks and the round counters and will kick down my spares to our new players. :)

We posted it on our Facebook. Looks like they will be for 2024 but I want them sooner!
My group stopped playing immediately after I bought the upgrade kits from first edition. There were so few counters available that I couldn't even properly field ships for my normal squad, which was quite devastating to find out while unboxing everything. And the fact the app didn't work at all was basically what killed our gaming oppurtunities even with some stand-in counters used.
Has any of that been resolved? This game is quite dead to everyone who played in my region and ships are gathering dust on the shelves wherever I find them in stores.
They haven't or probably wont create
evive their list building since Yasb and LaunchBay is already existing. These new packs have everything a new player needs to jump right in and each player buying a pack is a great launch into the game.

$75 for 4 ships vs $45 for 3 ships (squadron packs). It just doesn't seem like a good value. And if I were a new player, I'd much rather have an Interceptor than a THIRD TIE fighter (counting the 2 in a starter set).
Its 75 due to it including all the parts of a core set. Damage deck, templates, cards, obstacles, dice, 4 ships and even more. The 3 ship packs only include ships, cards and basic cardboard.
$80 would be fair. shatterpoint is a ripoff for what it is
Fuck that game. I have zero interest into it. I have yet to hear anyone excited for it.
