- Had a friend reach out that did work for a customer and the customer wanted the dozer removed. Its heavy, non running and the guy didn't want to pay anyone to haul it away. I was called and decided to give it a shot and get it running. Turns out its a early 1960's tracked loader (bulldozer) that was left about 12-15 years ago. We did everything we could besides tearing the motor completely down and rebuilding it. Leave us a comment and let us know if you have any ideas how we can get it running.

Lots of things wrong with this approach. No serious mechanic would have to guess whether the electrical system was 12 or 24v. Water in the pan? Drain, flush and refill, and pull the injectors, then get out the WD-40, the big breaker bar and cheater pipe to try to roll it over by hand before you ever put the starter to it. Got a way to shut it down if it does actually start?? ...And in what universe is the positive cable black and the negative red???
These guys are as far from diesel mechanics as u can get.
1) pouring oil in the exhaust is just gonna get oil in the exhaust valves which does nothing for the pistons.
2) take a big braker bar and the proper size socket, put it on the crankshaft pulley and try to rotate the engine before destroying the starter motor.
3) go thru the basics like does it get fuel, is the air filter cloged is there oil in the engine and water?
And at the end if u get it turning and it doesnt start check the compression.
Before you criticize people for using a red cable for a ground wire, you should check if that piece of equipment had a positive ground. Although you almost never see that today, positive ground was quite popular with many manufacturers years ago, especially 12V systems in equipment like that track loader.

Buy a battery powered transfer pump. They are not much more than 30 bucks and run on a few C or D batteries. One of the best things I have purchased after they came out with ask of these silly over engineered fuel caps.
I wish my friends called me and told me I could have abandoned equipment from the woods!
3:11 I just keep like 7-8 old style kids for the gas cans and use those if I get a new can I put a old lid on
Two guys who have no idea what they are doing, though they think they do, should have had somebody who knows what to don and how to check it out, then they probably would have got it to start, then comes the next problem will be wil lit move.
Drain water out of engine, and cylinders if it's hydro locked your gonna bend a rod and you will have a big pile of scrap
I agree with throwing out those government approved fuel filler caps, but you can buy a straight filler neck with vent kit to make a new container like the old faithful containers.
With out the stupid lid but with a funnel or I use a cheap harbor freight battery operated pump
Well... I admire your spirit. You guys have lots of spirit and you make a video worth watching for the entertainment. But!! As a professional heavy equipment mechanic, I would tell you two to go sit down out of the way and I would do this right. It has already been said how to so I won't repeat it. And you're pouring the fuel thing?? You ever heard of a funnel?
Why not use offroad diesel? Cheaper than the on road stuff. Offroad(red) diesel is all I use in my tractor.

if all else fails you will need to take the head off to unstuck the piston rigs from the cylinder walls
We had jd450 ran great needed major under carage and we got rid of it just because dident have money for under carage ares had fuel behind the seat i think

Hire Superman to bump start it. What I'd really like to see is how to load it when it's not running. With the tracks not turning can you simply drag it onto a trailer without destroying the trailer?
There’s a pin under it I believe. If you pull the pin, it frees up the tracks. But the problem is the bucket is on the ground.
Scrap it worth more in metal than running.

Hopefully somebody drug this old John Deere out of the woods and got it going. From the looks of it, it was in pretty good shape. Though if it was sitting with an open exhaust for 12 years likely going to have to pull the head and unstick it. I wouldn't have even tried hooking power up to it without verifying that it turned over with a breaker bar first.

Put those California lids on a politicians mouth as they will destroy a riding mower fill up trying to push hard enough tto let fuel out. Cannot get them to allow fuel in my Subaru Forester either.
