Such a good idea for using 6s6 paper. Love your extra touches with the fairies. You’ve given me some great ideas and will definitely make some to use my every-growing stash of patterned papers that I love.
Thank you! I love to make diverse characters so that the children who receive my donated cards will connect to the characters and that there is a card for everyone.
i really like how you use the entire sheet of 6x6. I think the design is simplistic yet makes for a very nice card. I bought 2 pads of 6x6 thin paper, not the double sided, and since I'm new to card making I soon realized the thin paper is not as desirable as the double sided paper, and I felt stuck with it. Now that I see how you use the mattes behind each sheet, this will work well for my thin paper and give it more presence and not look so skimpy. Thanks Jess!!
I agree I think this would be the perfect way to use up those thinner sheets. The overall design is simple but you can make the card really special with images, sentiments and other embellishments.
I really appreciate your dedication to having diversity in your coloring--I've been looking for tips about coloring darker skin so this was perfect. I also glue together 2 layers of cardstock (or just cut up cardboard from a food package). I actually like it better than foam because I want 1mm thickness and most foam tape/squares are 2mm. Would appreciate any other tips/hacks you might have--I have a very small craft budget so I'm always looking for alternatives like that. Love your adorable cards!
Love your cards. I especially appreciate the fact that you chose to color the fairies black. I agree wholeheartedly that stamp companies need to be more diverse when they are creating their stamps since this world we live in is so diverse. I am trying to learn better how to color with copics and your videos have helped tremendously.
I'm so glad my tips have been helpful! I've been trying to find more stamps that depict diverse characters or can be easily adapted. I've seen some more options recently but still kind of slim pickings. Hope we keep moving in the right direction.
Everything about these cards is great! The technique for getting the Afro is splendid. Simple layouts and no waste are what I find myself looking for more and more. I've been organizing my 6x6 papers so I've saved and bookmarked this for use as soon as I get the task completed. If I stop and make some cards now in the middle of my organizing I may never get back to the job I've assigned myself. 😉 Thanks for the push!
Thank you! I totally know what you mean. Sometimes when I"m organizing I'll see something I've forgotten about and really want to us. But can't get sidetracked. Good luck with your organizing and happy crafting afterward! I'm working on another two templates for a video so you'll have even more ideas for when you're done.
Thank you for your perfect timing! I have been making cards for my pastors and church staff to use. I just got a set of stamps saying "We're in this together", "Virtual hugs", etc. I was trying to think of quick backgrounds, so I can create a bunch more cards for them to use with my new phrases. Me: Hmmm, what are some background dies I have that would be easy? You: Take some patterned 6X6 paper and make quick backgrounds. Me: I have scads of that!!! I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm so glad this was helpful to you. Your cards will be such a blessing during this time. I just posted another template on my blog so you'll have 5 to choose from now.
these are terrific templates and a really easy way to make cool cards. Thank you so much for sharing period and I'm following your blog now. Ronda, the Crafty Blind Get
@@JessCrafts it's always nice to have ideas like this that help us make the most of our crafts. I am most definitely a waste not, want to not, Crafter. Thanks Ronda
After looking at several paper pads with an insane amount of scraps and very few complete pages left I was inspired to come up with some go-tos. I'm glad others are finding them helpful as well.
Love the cards. Fabulous ideas for adapting the images then using the scan n cut for cutting them out. I would love to see more card template ideas for less waste using patterned card stock. I even have beautiful 12x12 that I can’t bear to turn into waste! 🙃😊
Most of the sketches in my binder are from MFT and you should be able to find them and print them here: mftstamps.com/pages/resources I am working on my own sketches based on the cards in my 6x6 paper pad videos and plan to make them into printable PDFs after I have gathered a few more. I am also planning to make the One Sheet Wonder resources into PDFs to make printing easier. Definitely a case of so many ideas so little time.
I'm wondering what the CFK facebook page specifies for needing custom cards. I really want to do some but he told me they only post there and I don't have Facebook any more. I was wondering if you could share how they say what they want?
Hi Katy! I have limited knowledge as I am not directly associated with the organization just a card donor. I have never seen requests for custom cards on their FB page. They reached out to me directly about creating a custom card. However on their site they have their general guidelines and they are also accepting bookmarks right now with the same guidelines. cardzforkidz.org/how-to/ Sorry if that did not answer your question.
A wonderful video showing how to use up some pattern paper! Cute cards.
Your fairies are adorable!!! I love that idea.
Wonderful cards and thanks for adding the tips and making your cards more diverse. So happy to see some little brown girl fairies. :-)
Thank you! I want the kids who receive my cards to be able to feel represented and cared for. Every child should feel special and noticed.
Love your video. More diversity is fantastic
Great little layouts. So easily adaptable. Another great reason for using the layered paper to add dimension is that it is easier to mail.
Thanks! Great point!

you could take the 12x12 and turn it into four 6x6's and use them as one sheet wonders and not have any scraps. if you love it, chop it!!
Those are beautiful cards. I love the hair! The information is going to be very helpful 💕😊
Nice cards. I will definitely be making some. TFS, Cindy
Very pretty cards. Love how you color, beautiful 💜
