    With Kaladin, the healing factor is insane and he has a soul killing blade. Remember, Shallan took a crossbow bolt into the head and only blacked out when they pulled the arrow out. Renarin was crushed by a Thunderclast and was fine. Kaladin used barely any stormlight in the arena and was only on Oath #2 and healed broken legs and dodged before a FULL Shardbearer could recover and attack him. The SylSpear and the healing factor will carry Kaladin far into a lot of these fights, and if the opponent doesn't understand his powers, his sword will kill in 1 hit. Kaladin can also have Syl form as a shield, so Vin's coins won't do anything. Even with Atium, Vin would need to fear Kaladin, because even stabbing him in the throat wouldn't stop him and the Sylweapon kills in a single hit.

    • @mycenaeangal9312
      @mycenaeangal9312 Před 3 lety +16

      I still think vin takes it at least until he gets his plate. She's incredibly fast and is able to use her naked reaction speed to predict and beat someone on atium. They can both basically fly, both have magically amped physical stats, kaladin has a notable advantage up close, but vin has range. I think it's probably possible for her to exhaust his storm light by making him heal and then kill him, but I could see it going the other way a lot.
      If we give vin some more unorthodox things:
      Atium? That fight is over quick as fuck.
      duralumin pushed zinc or brass. That would probably also take him out. That boy gets depressed pretty easily.
      Chromium and she could completely drain him of stormlight and maybe even stop him from summoning syl as a blade(The wiki indicates this maybe possible)

    • @tudornaconecinii3609
      @tudornaconecinii3609 Před 3 lety +21

      @@mycenaeangal9312 This is something that is very important to note. Kaladin has severe chronic depression. He was almost on the brink of killing himself from someone merely *talking* him into it. Duralumin pushed zinc enflaming his depression would basically one shot him.

    • @tudornaconecinii3609
      @tudornaconecinii3609 Před 3 lety +3

      However, Brandon has stated that in a Kelsier vs Kaladin 1v1 Kelsier would win, and Kelsier is self-admittedly a pretty bad user of zinc. Which would imply that Vin can beat Kaladin without using zinc at all, though it still probably be the easiest way for her to beat him.

    • @MasterZealot09
      @MasterZealot09 Před 3 lety +13

      @@tudornaconecinii3609 The only reason Vin would win at all is because Kaladin wouldn't want to kill her. If they are bloodlusted, Kaladin wins basically every time. If she stabs him in the throat it would just heal. A coin in the brain wouldn't kill him either. And if you've read Rhythm of War, post RoW Kaladin couldn't even be hurt by anything Vin could do outside of maybe a duralumin-pewter swing, and even then I'm not convinced. He has a Kaladin's durability and healing is crazy. Normal knives or coins wouldn't even effect him. He can kill in a single strike. I still say, even with Atium Vin is in a bad place.

    • @tudornaconecinii3609
      @tudornaconecinii3609 Před 3 lety +7

      @@MasterZealot09 I have read Rhythm of War but I'm intentionally ignoring its existence because this fantasy power ranking video was posted before we knew Kaladin will reach 4th ideal. In the interview question where Brandon said Kelsier would win a 1v1 versus Kaladin he was also talking pre 4th ideal.
      Now ofc it's an entirely different game. Especially since living shardplate can completely cover the head which would probably counter zinc.

      @@sergioaccioly5219 He has an immense level of combat experience, he has shown great proficiency in both offense and defense specifically against magic, so I would definitely give him an edge vs all the other powerful characters whose feats mainly rely on their offensive capabilities alone. In such battles, whoever understands defense better, will likely have the edge both in initial survival, but also in being able to figure our their opponent quicker and find a way to effectively counter their strategy.
      And from a pure magical point of view, Dumbledore has a huge arsenal of offensive tools that both attack physically, directly, indirectly, and mentally. And most of it is unblockable unless you know exactly what type of spells he is using. His proficiency in incantationless magic is also very high for the HP universe, which ensures he doesn't fall behind in pace either.
      I would say OP, not outright godlike as he can still fall victim to certain spells and magic (like traps and such obstacles) so there are hard limits to what he can and can't overcome.

      @adrianbundy3249 Před 3 lety +4

      First: If it was decent size caliber, Shallon be dead. The crossbow was specific, it went through and hit certain parts of the brain, leaving the brain intact, nor going with anywhere near bullet velocities to damage the brain more than that (hence the slurred speech, vision, etc, just the sections the bolt was in).
      However, A good bullet, ie: Something not like .22, if it hits correctly, will be dragging brainmatter with it, either the whole brain, or most of it, if it is dead center. And ANY caliber hollow point will also shred the whole brain at once....
      Oh, and a .50 cal will probably just take out the top of the skull, so... Not really needed there. That won't be 'Oh, my speech is slurred, there is an arrow going through my speech and eye vectors, yo my favorite crew, I cannot take this arrow out lest I faint, help me pull it out', with these bullets.
      So given the description on how Shallon healed, and what happened with that, and how we know others can die with stormlight... Yeah, I am thinking a gunshot of a medium caliber or higher would probably killed Kal or Shallon without plate. Provided it is a brain shot ofc.
      So in the end, I am going to say, most bullets, if accurate, would put Shallon down. At least until plate.

      Michael Klaczynski as weird as this sounds (since Rand is the stronger ta’veren), I actually think Mat’s plot armor is stronger. This relies on the idea of plot armor being something that protects you physically when the physical situation should kill you. Mat has this happen all the time with stuff like falling from 4 floors up and being fine, someone trying to fight him but tripping and snapping their spine, and a building falling on him but Mat happens to be missed by the rubble. Rand has things go his way, obviously, but they tend to be more political (people making decisions that are favorable for Rand) or destiny-style where Rand’s decisions and actions work out in the end.

    Generally agree with most of what was said except for how much you overvalued Vin against both Kaladin and Nyneave, I think they both can beat her. Against Kaladin, Vin just doesn't have a way to kill him until his stormlight runs out as he's effectively immortal while holding it, his own flight is way more versatile than Vin's pseudo-flight giving him more mobility and all he needs is just one hit to kill her (she doesn't have feruchemicial powers and can't heal shardblade using Gold). Against Nyneave, she can just put up an air barrier around her and that basically blocks Vin's ranged attacks (I mean, if it can block lightning strikes, it can prob block Vin) while Nyneave will have her own that she can throw at Vin.from behind the air barrier.

    Had a quick thought on Vin: One of the limitations for Vin (and all other Allomancers) was that it was extremely dangerous for them to carry around metal items such as jewelry due to the danger of those items being used against them. I'm imagining Vin with a jar of buckyballs vs. literally anyone on this list. She could just throw them into the air, and then push and pull repetitively to shred everything around her. At fast enough speeds, I'm not sure even Zen Rand could survive. Granted, he'd certainly be able to kill Vin as well and is all around definitely more powerful.
    It's interesting to consider how some of powers and abilities of these characters are limited/enhanced by the context of their stories. Given continued access to the various metals she needs, I think Vin would be much more dangerous in a non-Mistborn setting.

    Hell yeah! Fantasy fight debates are one of my favorite things ever, so great video. My two cents on some characters/matchups:
    I thought Aragorn's bloodline would be a bigger advantage. With the descriptions about him taking out hords of Orcs on his own, I had always envisioned his pure speed and strength to be around Geralt's level. He might still lose to Logen regardless, but I'd have placed him with these fighters rather than in normal.
    For Harry vs Geralt, I think you're underestimating nonverbal spells. These only become a bigger thing later on in the series, but more or less equalize the speed advantage Geralt has. A nonverbal expelliarmus could take the Sword out 5 seconds in, and then Harry takes it imo. It's hard to judge how well their protection mechanisms work against different magic systems. Does Geralts medallion warn him against such a spell? Does Protego block a witcher sign? Lots of open questions, but I think Harry might do better than we give him credit.
    Staying with Geralt, I think Yennefer takes him out no questions asked. His advantage against superior magic users is that they don't know what he can do. Yennefer knows what to prepare for, and then she overpowers him. Without going into spoilers, there's examples of him being powerless against more powerful magicians.
    Kaladin vs Kip is a great one. I tend to agree on giving it to Kaladin, but it's close. Kaladin's healing factor is better than Kips endurance, but Kip's power output is greater. One thing to consider is how much Stormlight Kaladin has. It might run out, Kip is fine as long as there's light. I wouldn't factor guns too highly here. They can be a big factor, but Kip is not a proficient shooter. He relies on his magic mostly and barely touches a gun. With the guns available in lightbringer, Kip would not manage more than one shot, and that would not be enough to incapacitate Kaladin.
    While Kaladin takes it over Kip, Gavin would clearly take him out imo. He would be a good addition for the next vid :)

      Aragorn and Geralt do seem to have about the same skills in straight up sword fighting but Geralt can also cast nasty spells and has no qualms against using some hard core pharmaceuticals to increase his skills.

For example if they twin a sight rune the Rune lord can now see twice as well and the donator is now blind. Runes can be twinned in all kinds of different ways, like speed, strength, charisma, hearing, all kinds of things. the more Runes a Runelord has, the more powerful he is. needless to say a couple characters in this series become extremely powerful.

He'd just have to be fast enough to use them, lol. And he can instantly stupefy and/or confuse opponents with Axii, giving him time to close distances.
