    It sounds easy but no no no!!! I went through the hassle and built my own studio which cost me over $400 and I paid the membership for voices which cost me $200 at the time. I was so excited at first, I thought it was going to rain a lot of money, but I was very wrong. After almost a year of submitting over 500 auditions, I only got $250 which means I got my money back plus a little extra money ($50). Now my membership is going to end soon and there's no way in hell I'm going to renew. My point is don't waste your money. It's hard to make money on that damn platform.

      This is the comment I was looking for, I knew it looks easier, but to actually do it, I did not understand why charge 200$ for membership... thank you, too strange that nobody has struggled like you did, but I had a feeling that's something is wrong here.

    Thank you for this - it was really helpful! As someone who just started (like yesterday) to try out voiceacting and perhaps make income in the later process - would you recommend purchasing a microphone immediately, for like pro bono gigs? If so, what equipments would you recommend? Appreciate your help on this :)

    • @voices
      @voices  Před 4 lety +6

      Hey, glad this was helpful. We certainly do recommend a microphone as one of the starting tools. Booking a job with a cellphone microphone would be extremely unlikely. Plus the lowest payout we have on our site is $100. We usually recommend mics like the Rode NT USB or Audio Technica 2020 USB for people testing the water.

      Great question. There are a lot of different formats that I've seen people using. I would suggest always including the job number. This will make it easy to cross reference down the road if there are ever revisions or pickups. Beyond that, I would say whatever makes the process clear and easy for you! - Randy

    Great video.
    I have a question about applying to a job. For 'Job Budget', is that the overall budget of the project or what the VO Artist might be paid. If a budget says '$500-$700', do I write down a number between them or go lower to a reasonable price?

    • @voices
      @voices  Před 2 lety +3

      The budget listed is what the client has on the table for the talent. Feel free to bid up to the maximum, or over if you feel it's listed too low. The bottom line is to always bid what you feel is fair. Here's a video we made that might help -Randy

    If I am a beginner talent and I am able to book 25-50 auditions does that mean I’m on the right track to being a full time voice actor or is that being to ahead of myself?

    • @bensutton3527
      @bensutton3527 Před 3 lety +2

      I think what he's saying is that beginners typically land 1 job for every 25-50 auditions they submit. So it's a percentage, not a total number.

    • @voices
      @voices  Před 3 lety +2

    I'm 73 auditions in and still haven't gotten any jobs. Is that normal and has anyone overcome this?

    • @voices
      @voices  Před rokem

      Most talent starting out will audition around 100 times before landing their first job. It gets easier and booking rates generally improve. The best thing you can do is make sure you're not overlooking your audio. I'd check out our leaderboard and make sure your audio is comparable to theirs. If it's not, you'll want to improve the audio before sending more auditions. www.voices.com/leaderboard -Randy

    • @voices
      @voices  Před 3 lety +1

      Absolutely, each project varies depending on the client's needs, but typically a 1-2 day turnaround is expected. They will usually list their expected turnaround so you know when auditioning. Hope this helps! - Randy
