"Don't Bother Me" is one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. The guitar in that song is what really makes it.
Tudor, forgive me if you've covered this elsewhere, but George was also the first of the Fabs to visit America; when he came over to see Louise in Illinois. She also came up to NYC to look after him when he was ill just before the Sullivan gig. I had the pleasure of meeting her at an afternoon tea she hosted years ago in Nashville, at The Hermitage Hotel, during a Beatle Con - Joey Molland of Badfinger sat right behind me. Anyroad, she was a lovely lady - thanks, again, for doing these videos!
My, I didn't know about George being stabbed. How terrible. And then the relapse of cancer. Very sad. Thank you for a great video.
Yes very sad.
Thanks for that great summary of a fascinating life, that ended all too soon.
Yes all too soon.
My favorite Beatle, such a sweet soul.
I felt that after I watch the Get Back documentaries. I felt he was the one without an ego and with nothing to prove.
Tudor, Thank you for all your hard work in putting these videos together. I love each and every one of the Beatles and especially George. He was the spiritual leader of the group and had a major impact on the course of my life in that direction.
"I hope somebody does this to all my crap demos when I'm dead; make them into hit songs." lol I love that one
The new AI release of Now And Then was the song GH thought was terrible. Even though it’s had some decent treatment, I can see what he meant 🤣
I love the story you told of how when Ringo came back to the studio after briefly quitting, his drum set was covered with flowers that George had placed there. Ringo wasn't treated very well by John and Paul. But George was his friend.
The friend who slept with his wife
Brilliant video. George is my favourite Artist of all time and this was so interesting to listen to!
Thanks very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍
A very interesting and informative video, as usual. George has always been a bit of an enigma. He had this aura of a saint around him, but could at times be quite nasty, according to people who knew him. But I guess that's just human. According to Geoff Emerick he had a very low self esteem in the beginning, when it came to recording guitar solos. That's why Paul did the solo on "Taxman". Later on he became more confident, of course.
They could be quite cutting in their ways and I wonder if that was exacerbated by the intensness of how they toured and later spent so much time in the studios. They were bright lads that developed into unique individuals. Four egos that probably didn't help eh?
@@TudorSmith There is no doubt that all that pressure affected them. They said themselves in "Anthology" that they managed to remain sane because there were four of them and they looked after eachother. Elvis and Michael Jackson were alone in their fame and couldn't handle it.
Ah yes I’d read that about the Fab Four. They had each other to keep themselves sane. I’m pretty sure John might have moved his allegiance to Yoko when they started their relationship but you’re right, Elvis and MJ had no one to turn to!
Hi Tudor
Great Video- I have a Better Appreciation of the Contributions that George did for Music & Culture.
Thanks- Looking forward to your forthcoming Paul McCartney Video.
Take Care
Thanks Richard. In all my research I’ve learnt a lot I don’t know too!
Always enjoy Beatles vids and any new info , you covered George well enough to get younger people interested . For an old guy like me it was nice to reminisce .
Glad you enjoyed it. For those who know the story, then there's not really any new information out there but for newbies then you're right, it might be interesting for them!
A most enjoyable video. Just when you think that you know it all, something else pops up!! Every day is a learning day, eh? Thanks for making and sharing!
Thanks very much! And you know what, I'll bet there's so much more I didn't cover. Volumes of information that could cut into videos by year! George in 1964, George in 1973, George in ....
🤣
You’ve really Done such a great job on this series Tudor! I can’t wait for your Paul McCartney chapter! Thanx!
Cheers Michael. I must say I’m looking forward to doing PMcC. My musical inspiration is that guy. I’d better make it a good one 👍
I am totally enjoying your shows. They are beautifully done. There’s always some meathead who will have negative things to say. But those are the types of miserable people who have nothing positive to talk about. You are to be commended. I am thoroughly impressed and entertained with your work.
Thanks for sharing this gem ❤
My pleasure 😊
Thank you for your work - I really enjoy it - and your smooth voice brings on a calm in this very noisy world of ours … and it keeps me listening along .. thanks again ! ( Cheers from Halifax NS ) 🎼
Thank you for taking the time to watch. It makes the effort worthwhile 👍
Tudor, i've been watching your videos for a while now and you seem a canny interesting fella with a great love for The Beatles, like me. Keep the videos coming mate .....
Nice of you to say I think I’m a bit interesting. Not a lot mind you, just a bit 🤣.
My own interest in music was piqued by the Beatles so they became my first love (musically) to which all other artists have had to aspire to (by my rankings anyway) 👍
@@TudorSmith I've ticked off most of my Beatles bucket list. In 2020 visited The Dakota and Strawberry Fields in Central Park, still in denial we went there. In August 2021 we were the only ones on a National Trust Tour of Lennon and McCartneys houses in Liverpool and because of Covid the guides couldn't come inside so me and the wife had the whole of their houses to ourselves. No photo's or video they said and don't touch anything , yeah right. Sorry National Trust.
Wow you were a bit privileged to be around the houses by yourself. I bet you got some amazing images 😀📸
Thanks I me Olivia Harrison twice in Shiplake
I think that Louise listening to Indian music was influential in his love of the music.
I Have watched your moving account of the life and death of The late George Harrison. The Beatles were part of my early and teenage years. They were as every everybody knows were indeed fab. Thanks Tudor for Imparting this very sad story. I can see how it effects you .
Well done.😢
That was really good. I remember when I heard he'd died, I was listening to the radio in my car and just sat there and cried for a bit. But I didn't really know much about him besides the various Beatles bios I'd read and that I liked his music. I like how you've saved Paul for last, as I gather he's your favorite. Mine too 😊 Looking forward to it!
Thank you. I enjoyed putting it together. I
must admit I think I’ve saved the best ‘til last but they are all my favourites for so many different reasons 🙂
All things must pass.
..I adore Your shows, Your style...besides pop goes60s, glassonion on John Lennon , Beatles archivist and young Australian boy (whos name just cant remember...aaaa Eliot something) Yo're faaar my favorite host. Tnank You again, and please excuse my English, I'm ex Yogoslovan....now Slovene. Xxx Ron
Thanks Ron. Yes, Elliott’s videos are great. I enjoy his content too 👍
Love all things beatles really enjoyed this ....
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello again, Another great video. Perfect start to a sunday morning. A coffee and the latest tudor video. Although his solo work is underated, his contribution to the beatles is off the scale. All four played vital parts to give us the worlds greatest band. Really looking forward to the macca story. All the best, kev chatterley.
Hi Kev. I'm glad you're enjoying your Sunday morning coffee 🤣 They were all pretty decent solo artist right but what's that old saying about the sum of the parts? Togehter they just dominated. Brian And George Martin sure had a hand in driving the Beatle Machine and expected perfection from the boys but of course, they delivered in bucket loads!
Thanks for dropping by and watching.
Such good work! Pleasing most People most of the time! Thanks! 🙏With the recent passing of David Crosby I was thinking that it would be great to see something along the lines of the relationships the Beatles had with The Byrds
...and other artist such as the Beach Boys, Dylan ,Donovan and the whole 60's scene if you would be so inclined! Thanks again!🇨🇦🇬🇧👍
Great suggestion! I think it could make for an interesting subject. Especially when you consider how they each influenced each other and learnt from one another 👍
Wonderful video on a terrific guitarist, songwriter, spiritualist, & humanitarian.
What a lovely an undying man George was
I had an unfound respect for George whilst making that video.
I saw the Quarrymen on an episode of the Flintstones
🤣
Nice one Tudor, thanks.
Thanks 🙏
Working on the best cheers
George harrison net worh is 400million dollars cheers ❤😢🎉
Absolutely fab vid Tudor! You did George proud so less of the self doubt please Lol The only thing that niggles me is that each member of the Fab Four tended to forget that without each other, their lives would have been very different. This obsession with historians about George's song writing skills which may have been non exsistant had he not collaberated with John and Paul in those early years. Can't wait to see what you make of Paul's contribution to The Beatles Story, bring it on!
It’s an interesting thought. I’m sure they were inspired to write individually because of their own inspirations from their idols. And of course George and Paul wrote “In Spite of All The Danger” together whilst in the Quarrymen right. I’m sure working together for the next 10 years or so would have helped them all to be creative but I know I can hear George’s distinct writing abilities in his songs and for the most part they are quite different from Lennon/McCartney writings.
Hi Tudor,I've just seen your videos, back to back. Absolutely brilliant, thanks so much for them and well done 👏 👏👏👍🎼🎶🎵🌹❗️
Wow - thanks for watching back to back! Appreciate it 👍
@Tudor Smith it was entirely my pleasure, thank you 😊 ❗️👍
Thank you Tudor !!!
That was great!
Thank you
Muito bom! Para mim o melhor dos Beatles, o mais profundo!
Yes, George did a lot of soul searching and I think he actually found his inner peace ✌️
Outstanding!
Thank you 🙏
I've watched all three of these (so far).
Can't wait for the McCartney video.
Thanks for watching. I’m currently working on the PMcC story 👍
Thankyou and enjoy the rest of your weekend
Thanks Tyrone - you too 🙏
Great job on GH - Can’t wait for PM as the Last Doc - Tah !
Thanks Steven. I must say I’m looking forward to making the next one. Not to say McCartney is my favourite Beatle (ha, like being asked who your favourite child is), but McCartney has probably been my strongest musical influence 👍
@@TudorSmith
I was weened as 12 year old on early 60s pop music/ RnR, The Beach Boys, Surf Music, Dylan, and then in 1964 (in the USA) The Beatles , and about 3 months later The British Invasion ! The first song I memorized was Elvis ‘Hound Dog ‘when I was 5 or 6 to ! I’ve been rockin’ ever since Elvis (my 1st intro to RnR)!
Side note: spot the Rutle pushing the pram in the Crackerbox Palace "video"...
Neil Innes. Rock on The Rutles 🤣
@@TudorSmith You mean Ron Nasty.
Thanks Tudor, great work.
Many thanks! 🙏
All all I can say is , it was beautiful, and thank You. Ron
That's nice of you to say. Thanks Ron.
I am a big fan of George harrison
say the least cheers Dennis Bennett thanx ❤😅🎉
He was rather good wasn't he?
Again, another job done well Tudor!
Really enjoyed that, had to stop what I wa doing to watch....
Cheers. Sorry to cause you a distraction 👀🤣
Well worth it..
Such a lovely man ❤❤❤❤
That was wonderful, Tudor. I always learn so much from your videos.
Waiting for my favourite, Macca!
I know all the Beatles lyrics, as i played their LPs, singles and EPs endlessly from a young age. Even if i forget everything else i think I'll still know their lyrics. But I’ve never researched their lives. I knew much more about Paul than the others as he’s always been my favourite.
Individually, the Beatles were all talented, but they were so very young when they met and rose to such great fame. It's only natural they would have different interests. George was only 15! Incredible!
Thank you so much, Tude! Loved it!
Note: i saw recently another very long term lawsuit involving Allen Klein. It was to do with The Veuve's Bittersweet Symphony and the complicated mess it became as Klein wanted 100% of its profits, solely because Ashcroft who wrote Bittersweet Symphony requested a 4 second clip of a Rolling Stones Song from Decca. But The Stones hadn't actually written that song themselves either. It very complicated. Ashcroft finally prevailed after 2 decades. But the link below is a lot about Klein, the con man. Lennon loved him, Paul hated him. George inserted a line "beware of ABCKO" in one of his songs.
Link here: czcams.com/video/e757AUELVLw/video.html
Thank you Tess. Allan Klein eh? Always out for a quick buck. In the my sweet Lord saga, Klien went and bought the rights to the song so in effect it was him claiming copyright infringement against George.
I’m looking forward to the Macca story but I know I’m going to have to try and keep it under an hour 🤣
@@TudorSmith if you have a few minutes watch the Veuve story I linked. It’s well done and explains so much. It’s been said that Klein was a big reason why the Beatles broke up, but I’m sure you know more about that than I do. He managed the Beatles and The Stones. He ripped off The Stones too, I believe.
Under an hour? I look forward to 59 minutes and 59 seconds worth then! 😊
I'll watch it this evening x
59mins 59secs....I'll see what I can do 😁
Great vid tudor but there was a part where the sound went at 33 min 40 mark but all the same fantastic
Yeah I’m not sure what happened there. I’ll edit that bit out. Basically Patties comment was that no wife or girlfriend could break into the little bond the Fab Four had between themselves at that time 👍
ding dong 🎶🎶😃
ジョージも日本でコンサートしてくれました😄!
素晴らしいコンサートだったと思います
Thanks Tudor, another entertaining and informative video. You've rekindled my enthusiasm for learning all things Beatles. I've always loved their music but had thought I didn't want to read anything more about them after a few trashy books. Are there any particular books you would recommend? Thanks again.
Thanks John. I’ve only ever read one book - John Lennon by Philip Norman. I have listened to Philip’s audio book on Paul McCartney though. Both were enlightening. Other than that it’s Google searching (not sure how reliable the sources are though) or watching actual interviews of the Fab Four throughout their careers. It’s nice getting stories from their own mouths (so to speak). Oh and of course the Beatles Complete guitar chord book - I know that off by heart lol
Cheers dude.
Very good !
Thank you 🙏
interesting and informative as always have a lot of is stuff on vinyl from 1970 up to 1987 my fave lp is all things must pass
You know what, I’ve not even listened to that album. You’d have though I should have 😀 I’m going to have to give it a listen 👍
enjoyed the vid vm. Slight correction: Brian Epstein became Beatles-manager in Dec.61 (not 62)
He sure did. I do get confused when I’m talking to camera 👍
🩷 VERY very well-done. Thank you. 🕉️
(Now feed the cat, 😁💕)
Thank you. The cat has been suitably fed 😻
@@TudorSmith LOL 💕 Yay
You thought that you know where
I'm a dark horse
✨😆🎸🎸
I'll try watching it later...no captions. Sometimes that feature doesn't work right away. Got this hearing problem, I can enjoy the music but the lyrics are learned.
Sorry to hear that the captions are often incorrect - hopefully you’ll get something from the video when you watch it later
@@TudorSmith As I suspected, they are working now. You were saying George had an epiphany while riding his bike... Incorrect or not, they work beautifully.
Has any body mentioned yet, that @ 5:56, you meant "Carl Perkins?"
lol. No one’s mentioned it until you did just now. I did put an asterisk on the screen though. I suppose I had George on my
Mind making that video. I’m surprised I didn’t say George Lennon, George McCartney and George Starr 🤣
I would also like to say, whether many may agree with me or not, that @ 28:14, you mention "Free as a Bird", and some other song "Rea Love" being "The Beatles first single since 1970". But I can't ever believe that. It's just impossible beyond any reality to say that was a Beatles new recording if John Lennon wasn't there, he was dead, he had no involvement in that process. It was more like an unfinished Lennon composition, with the remaining x-Beatles adding their voices and instruments to it. Hardly a "New Beatles Record." Let's see all four perform it live? "Cont ol' chap Jone Lenun is dead."
I mean, that's how I feel about that. But the song is nice an' all. Good job they did. And good videos you create.
Thank You Tudor 😊
It was a failed assassination attempt. No one could have breached George’s property unless they were extremely professional
The same way that the intruder broke into Buckingham Palace to try and assassinate the Queen? If people want to break into a property, they’ll find a way.
That's an interesting take. I don't understand why anyone would have wanted to assassinate him.
@@HeleneLouise For what he was about to speak publicly about. Same with Lennon but they succeeded with him.
exactly, george admitted it himself in the documentary, "last testament of george harrison" .. but the worst part of all is he never had faith in god, very sad 💔
The Chiffons song sounds almost nothing like George song.
I’m reminded of the court case between Blurred Line and Marvin Gayes “Got To Give It Up”. Plagiarism is such a grey area!
His birth to death being 1943- 1958 at 3:09 I find to be highly unlikely. However I'll let it slip as a typo.
Yikes a typo. He’d have missed everything if it was that short!!!
@@TudorSmith😂❤
