    "Don't Bother Me" is one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. The guitar in that song is what really makes it.

    Tudor, forgive me if you've covered this elsewhere, but George was also the first of the Fabs to visit America; when he came over to see Louise in Illinois. She also came up to NYC to look after him when he was ill just before the Sullivan gig. I had the pleasure of meeting her at an afternoon tea she hosted years ago in Nashville, at The Hermitage Hotel, during a Beatle Con - Joey Molland of Badfinger sat right behind me. Anyroad, she was a lovely lady - thanks, again, for doing these videos!

    A very interesting and informative video, as usual. George has always been a bit of an enigma. He had this aura of a saint around him, but could at times be quite nasty, according to people who knew him. But I guess that's just human. According to Geoff Emerick he had a very low self esteem in the beginning, when it came to recording guitar solos. That's why Paul did the solo on "Taxman". Later on he became more confident, of course.

    • @TudorSmith
      @TudorSmith  Před rokem +1

      They could be quite cutting in their ways and I wonder if that was exacerbated by the intensness of how they toured and later spent so much time in the studios. They were bright lads that developed into unique individuals. Four egos that probably didn't help eh?

    • @LapsangTe
      @LapsangTe Před rokem +2

      @@TudorSmith There is no doubt that all that pressure affected them. They said themselves in "Anthology" that they managed to remain sane because there were four of them and they looked after eachother. Elvis and Michael Jackson were alone in their fame and couldn't handle it.

    • @TudorSmith
      @TudorSmith  Před rokem

      Ah yes I’d read that about the Fab Four. They had each other to keep themselves sane. I’m pretty sure John might have moved his allegiance to Yoko when they started their relationship but you’re right, Elvis and MJ had no one to turn to!

    Absolutely fab vid Tudor! You did George proud so less of the self doubt please Lol The only thing that niggles me is that each member of the Fab Four tended to forget that without each other, their lives would have been very different. This obsession with historians about George's song writing skills which may have been non exsistant had he not collaberated with John and Paul in those early years. Can't wait to see what you make of Paul's contribution to The Beatles Story, bring it on!

    • @TudorSmith
      @TudorSmith  Před rokem +1

      It’s an interesting thought. I’m sure they were inspired to write individually because of their own inspirations from their idols. And of course George and Paul wrote “In Spite of All The Danger” together whilst in the Quarrymen right. I’m sure working together for the next 10 years or so would have helped them all to be creative but I know I can hear George’s distinct writing abilities in his songs and for the most part they are quite different from Lennon/McCartney writings.

    Waiting for my favourite, Macca!
    I know all the Beatles lyrics, as i played their LPs, singles and EPs endlessly from a young age. Even if i forget everything else i think I'll still know their lyrics. But I’ve never researched their lives. I knew much more about Paul than the others as he’s always been my favourite.
    Individually, the Beatles were all talented, but they were so very young when they met and rose to such great fame. It's only natural they would have different interests. George was only 15! Incredible!
    Thank you so much, Tude! Loved it!
    Note: i saw recently another very long term lawsuit involving Allen Klein. It was to do with The Veuve's Bittersweet Symphony and the complicated mess it became as Klein wanted 100% of its profits, solely because Ashcroft who wrote Bittersweet Symphony requested a 4 second clip of a Rolling Stones Song from Decca. But The Stones hadn't actually written that song themselves either. It very complicated. Ashcroft finally prevailed after 2 decades. But the link below is a lot about Klein, the con man. Lennon loved him, Paul hated him. George inserted a line "beware of ABCKO" in one of his songs.

      I would also like to say, whether many may agree with me or not, that @ 28:14, you mention "Free as a Bird", and some other song "Rea Love" being "The Beatles first single since 1970". But I can't ever believe that. It's just impossible beyond any reality to say that was a Beatles new recording if John Lennon wasn't there, he was dead, he had no involvement in that process. It was more like an unfinished Lennon composition, with the remaining x-Beatles adding their voices and instruments to it. Hardly a "New Beatles Record." Let's see all four perform it live? "Cont ol' chap Jone Lenun is dead."
      I mean, that's how I feel about that. But the song is nice an' all. Good job they did. And good videos you create.
      Thank You Tudor 😊

    It was a failed assassination attempt. No one could have breached George’s property unless they were extremely professional

      The same way that the intruder broke into Buckingham Palace to try and assassinate the Queen? If people want to break into a property, they’ll find a way.

      That's an interesting take. I don't understand why anyone would have wanted to assassinate him.

      I’m reminded of the court case between Blurred Line and Marvin Gayes “Got To Give It Up”. Plagiarism is such a grey area!

    His birth to death being 1943- 1958 at 3:09 I find to be highly unlikely. However I'll let it slip as a typo.
