  • In the 70s and 80s, scores of women would arrive at Channel Nine’s Sydney studios each day to see flamboyant entertainer Jeanne Little on The Mike Walsh Show. Subscribe: bit.ly/3l7kXcR
Though never a favourite of the comedy cognoscenti, viewers loved her and she won the Gold Logie award for Most Popular Television Personality in 1976, just two years after her first TV appearance.
But behind the funny lady and outrageous costumes was an illness long kept secret, a husband with a surprising background, and a daughter searching for answers.

I'm 37 and I recall growing up and seeing her on tv. She was so vivacious and unique. Not afraid to be who she was. She made me want to be forthright too.
    Bless her memory.

As an American, i hadn't heard of this amazing woman, until watching this clip. My mom is in stage 5 alzheimers right now, and I too help caregive. Jeanne seemed like a beacon, shining her light wherever she was. This was a touching story ❤

I grew up watching Jeanne Little on the tv, she was a force to recon with. you could not help but smile when you seen her or heard her voice.
I remember seeing her on Beauty and the Beast, loved her tearing shreds off people.
she was on a whole different level, I loved her over the top style... cant go wrong with someone thats not afraid to be themselves.
she will live forever in the hearts as a great Australian icon.

Jeannie Little was Australia's Phyllis Diller! And Mike Walsh put *ALL* other talk show hosts from Britain and America *IN THE SHADE!* Jeannie once said she couldn't sing but we sure found out that Jeannie was wildly underestimating her talents there! *She COULD sing!* And she did it brilliantly. And that she overcame a childhood stutter, inspiration for others in the same situation! R.I.P., Jeannie Little..... Daaaaaahhhhhhh-ling! I won't watch this again as I'd already seen this edition on free-to-air TV.

She was a crazy beautiful woman who could light up your life with her infectious mannerisms and idiosyncrasies... What is the classic Aussie saying... "God broke the mould when he made that one"

I well remember and enjoyed Jeanne on the MWS and in other productions. She was definitely an original. It's so sad that her life ended as it did but having said that she had the enduring love of family and friends and received the best of care. Katie seems a lovely person and and is a credit to her parents. Now to be trivial! I didn't realise Denise Drysdale had such good legs and I can't get over the colour of Ita Buttrose's lipstick!

Mum was in lullworth too! Perhaps we crossed paths in the hallways 😄.
I remember when we were all kids in Bali on holidays together and Sonia Mc was there with my mum and I and her 3 kids. We all played in the pool for hours. Ahh memories
