Honestly, the "you can't travel faster than the speed of light" excuse which is used so often used by scientists as a means of trying to instantly dismiss the possibility of NHI is just so arrogant. Based on what? We know very little about anything. It wasn't long ago the scientists of their time were saying "you can't travel past the horizon or you'll fall off the face of the earth" 😂
So it’s based of the equations of special relativity. The equations basically show it would take an infinite amount of energy to go faster than the speed of light. There are theories of ways around it (by scientists) but they require forms of exotic matter that are not currently within the bound of our understanding and even then you’re not exactly going faster than the speed of light your warping the space around you. “We have to *try to ground it into the laws of physics,biology, chemistry that we understand”

my friend and I got mediocre exam results and went on to study arts at university and beyond. He is happy to explain to me that it's just not technically possible for aliens to visit earth. I find it amazing that these ideas about our understanding of physics and the universe is so absolute that we can make these proclamations. We have certainly come a long way in a short time, but we probably still only know less than 1% of what our reality is, and we may never know.
Quantum entanglement proves that something moves faster than light. The science community has proven that. Yet they still claim that the speed of light is the fastest that anything can go.
The answer is certainly not SETI.

True. The window of our use of radio, to the beginnings of Quantum Computing and a Quantum (information teleportation), is now in its beginning for us. In a little more than 100 years.
That is the window that SETI would have to capture - so very unlikely to catch!
SETI should give up on looking for distant signals, and focus their time & energy into looking at uap in our skies.
It's so interesting that in the same breath, he says Oumuamua didn't turn out to be a Rama, and also that we don't know what it was.
I really wish people could be comfortable with not knowing without feeling forced to come to unearned conclusions.

They could...but they won't unless they're absolutely forced to. It's only a matter of time before one of their satellite photos are leaked or knowledge of their UAP monitoring programs are revealed.

For me - the abiogenesis event is the thing we should be studying the hardest. If the first self-replicating molecule was just a random arrangements of amino-acids - then the probability of that happening by chance could EASILY be so spectacularly unlikely - that we must be alone. There are 26 amino acids - if you need a chain of 100 of them - by chance then you're looking at 26 to the power of 100 against...which means the odds are that we're alone. But if we can find hundreds of trillions of possible self-replicators - then we really can't be alone. Understanding that abiogenesis event seems to me to be the absolute key to knowing whether we're alone.

Ryan, your honesty and accurate reporting as a F-18 pilot along with Alex Dietrich, and Dave Fravor has opened up the search for UAP-USO Craft incidents and the search for life even travelling in our own atmosphere, but now witnesses don't have to fear been ridiculed for reporting such incidents. Honest reporting is an absolutely must. Your, David Grusch and Dave Fravor evidence given to the American Congress was outstanding and very brave 👏 thank you for your service. My service was 72 to 92, almost 21 years active service and 3 years reserves.

You get extra kudos from me on this one, because Adam Frank is prominent in promoting the stigma, and yet you manage to engage him on about as close a level as possible on this subject. I would have been far more confrontational about his lack of scientific foundation surrounding his hypothesis of advanced aliens all going extinct. ("Well we might not make it a thousand years," *wink wink* *nudge nudge*). As much as I would have wanted to engage his logical contradictions, you did it with tact. He still dodged a lot.
this is the guy who was denying everything Grusch testified to and instead PUSHED his own book.

A civilization won't need to burn things or eat up planets to survive. They would have sustainable energy, and most likely the speed of light is not a barrier. Blackholes, and gravity eat photons because of mass, and gravity. So that clearly manipulates photons, and light speed, even if it just bends light, or pulls on light then the speed of light can be variable. Therefore it's not a barrier. Or am I totally wrong? Please educate me if your have reasons why I'm wrong. Thanks.

Oh, interesting you had this guy on. I just saw him for the first time on Frasier Cain, a space related channel. He's got an interesting book. I thought he was pretty cold about UAP, and that's fine, I just dont think he gave it a fair shake, probably hasnt read the Navy's - very extensive - report on the multiday, multi-ship, multi-UAP swarms in 2019. Look, I'm agnostic as to WHAT these greater phenomena are. I just know it's 100% real though because even if you tossed out all recorded information, I've seen one with my entire extended family about 25 years ago. It's as real as the ground we stand on. I think agnosticism is a better approach than skepticism, which implies there's been a determination to be skeptical of.
If you're skeptical whether there is any phenomena, you're experiencing a cognitive dissonance or ignorance. but the latter is easily remedied. I get that there is overwhelming fanaticism, ignorance and fraud. I actually think it's one of the major reasons there's been such minimal progress. The bad reputation has starved this subject of the absolute fundamental resources it needs, people, money, and tools. No one's donating their time, money, or equipment to this clown show. The ONLY reason there's been a big push, is because Lou Elizando was smart and framed this as a national security issue, coincided with 3 videos from our actual defense department. Lou stuck to the plan admirably, even navigating a tv series - without damaging the narrative. We had it all going, but are rapidly losing momentum. Swooping Grusch in on the congressional hearing was a big mistake. Totally took the wind out of our sails. Now nothing matters, except his claims, and our newfound reputation is on the line and it's all centered on that. Huge mistake.

Put your intellect down. Make a save space. Call with all your heart and passion for sensible respectful and loving contact. Just to know they are there. Visualise your position in the galaxy, solar system and zoom in to your position on earth. Use landmarks like highways, towns nearby.
Be patient and conscious. Overcome fear an make several trys. You will be surprised.

These scientists have devoted their careers to a certain paradigm and it is difficult to change.
That paradigm is the scientific method. It’s the best knowledge creation paradigm we have. And yet, a highly advanced civilization may easily and persistently evade our best efforts at empiricism. That’s why, in my view, UAP study is an epistemological dead end. It doesn’t mean the phenomena is bogus. But just that, presently, we don’t have the epistemological tools to study it. To paraphrase CS Lewis, scientists studying UAP see clearly, but they see only to the ends of their noses.
@bigbadkittenperson9179 We don't know what has been recovered. The inspector General stated Grusch's claims of intimidation was valid. Why is the government threatening him? He also claims about 40 Whistle Blowers that would go in a skif and give ufo information.

Maybe collecting the data could be supereasy, you dont need decade of studies or billions of dollars. If the UAPs are observed so often, almost on a daily base then someone has to just prepare some Missions to catch one of these unknown metallic fireflies. And this why many people who interested in this topic are sure that the govermnent already did this. It is the easiest way.

That's a great point. Any civilization that made it to a similar technological point as ourselves would know exactly where to start sending probes and craft as soon as they had the technology to do so. How many of them have existed and developed that technology over the four billion years of the existence of life on earth?

It seems if we are to really reach new worlds in a physical manner, we would have to increase our ability to use an advanced material science that hasn’t yet been discovered. I think it already exists but we haven’t discovered any understanding of it, therefore we cannot see it yet. We have phase space in physics as a theory, which is six dimensional, to me this would be a direction to discover a manner of material science that would permit us to travel through space and time.

Finding signatures of the technosphere from the point of view of humankind will be extremely unlikely I think. Because a more developed civilization, even just 50-100 years away from us, will have completely different technologies, which will have different “technosignatures” or not have them at all.

It just seems like since FLIR and other forms of radar and thermal technology can "see" a lot of these objects, shouldn't we be focusing our efforts on detecting them that way rather than listening for radio signals?

It was admirable at the time because it was SOMETHING outside the box but its proven to kinda be a joke.
These titles like “Who will find NHI first?,” etc drive me crazy. I have known four people now that have experienced NHI operating almost daily where they live for periods of YEARS at a time, in Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina, and Georgia. This includes craft of all shapes and sizes, beings, orbs, and plenty of other anomalous activity. The idea that these may be another country’s, or our own secret tech is ridiculous. Our government is well aware of all these areas and others. AARO is a joke and nothing more than an outlet to dispense disinformation while they “pretend” to investigate.
Latest signal technology is laser. Are we searching for laser at all? If not, maybe we should stop wasting our money on radio?
Laser is inefficient on cosmological scales. We should be looking for neutrino communications, gravitational wave communications, and possibly additional unknowns such as dark energy communications.
I struggle to listen to someone talking about spending billions on the search for other life when it's clearly already here! It's like saying that we need drinking water from Mars to sell in supermarkets when we have lakes, seas, rivers and oceans here already! We just need the governments of the world to come clean and tell us what they already know, which would cost sweet F-A! This is all about more tax dollars, pounds, or Euros, or whatever your currency is! These projects keep guys like this in a pointless job, whilst we could actually be using the reverse engineering tech to answer a huge part of our real problems, and know that we're not alone as a bonus!
