Mick Foley used to do this thing where he would purposely get his neck caught between the ropes. One time he did it and the ropes were tighter than usual. He ended up ripping his ear off. On something that he had practiced over and over again.

It appears that he may have embellished the story to make it seem as though Rey was in greater danger than he actually was, and kinda downplaying his own skills and abilities. While Logan is undoubtedly intelligent and capable of coming up with quick solutions, it is important to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of others involved.
