The governor of Pennsylvania announced that the statues will be part of the new park.
Were they planning on getting rid of the statues altogether, and if so why?
Don't understand why they can't do both things: keep William Penn and build a monument to the Natives. Why does everything have to be black and white/either-or??
good.
@@carstarfilm That's the first thing I thought of. They should incorporate / include the statue & house in the new park. 5:37 Seriously, that house is about the same size as a child's doll house, it'll easily fit into the new park, same with the statue.
Glad to read your post about the statues being part of the park PHILLY CAPTAIN..Thank you for the update..
As a native American and fellow patriot i say leave the history alone, and the statue, LOVE WINS!
I totally agree. I have Native American heritage myself. We are All Connected!!!

I really enjoy seeing your Philadelphia tour videos Captain!

Wiliiam Penn for Life!!
Hey PHILLY CAPTAIN, great video with your Rick the Puppy along Del Ave..Also fine narration about William Penn, tribute to your late military Vet buddy Gene & more..TOODLES...
My oldest brother lived on Elfreth's Alley for a short while back in the 1960's when he was a hippie. He just rented or maybe flopped in someone else's house.
Keep the statues but also put in a proper tribute to the Leni Lenape people who welcomed Penn and the other settlers.
Why are all our monuments torn diwn
The two statues are remaining
Marxist /communist takeover
Rick The puppy don't #piss on the monument!
Thank you for this video, i love seeing these statues & listening to you talk about everything. Its fantastic bc im in Florida and cant really go explore in person and im sure alot of ppl are the same so thru your eyes we can travel😊
Thx again!♡
I like all of your video's, especially since my original pioneer arrived at Penn's Landing in 1754 and the last three generations of my family have lived in Philly at some point.
One of your best vlogs in a while, very informative. Lots of info I knew nothing about, thanks Cap
People are so righteous today,really
Rick the puppy sounds so cute in the background
Great video Captain! … Happy New Year 🎉
Always good seeing Rick the Puppy.
Awesome video, Mr. The Philly Capt.
Really like your videos, keep it up!!
you gotta great inflection in your voice. You should do broadcast or animation voice overs.
I like your tour video. Thanks for sharing.
That map of the city layout and the statue is great! Shame thay are changing it.
This current government is destroying all we hold dear a d history of this country. Pray do tell me who the offended are and what contributions has any made fir the betterment of the United States except to complain and be a lazy taker not contribute to a thing?? This us so wrong and all confederate soldiers families should be outraged.
The Captain is the best tour guide ever…no need for Ben Franklin impersonators
Thanks for the awesome video
Here we are
Good stuff!
I told you before I live in ariz from south philly this vidio about Alfred's alley brings back memories of school trips keep up the good work toodles
Loved this video.
Really enjoy the history videos🎉 😀
When I worked at 4th and Walnut about 20 years ago, I would sometimes sit in that park and eat lunch. It really does need work, the sidewalks are all broken up, and probably a tripping liability. Probably one of the reasons why they want to fix it up.
Great history lesson!
More outdoor videos with Rick the Puppy!
Great video ❗💯👍
Fascinating history of Pennsylvania has me wanting to visit
Thanks for sharing. The statues are so small I cant see why they cant stay in addition to the native American statue that they want to add. Some grass and a strong oak tree with a few benches would be nice. God Bless America!
Great Video!! Your State has some of Best American History..
Love the Flyers hat!
Rick the Puppy is a great historian 🐾
Great video
You coulda mentioned Phillies lore happened just up 2nd Street a bit where drunken Pat 'the Bat' and 'Jay Mike' thought they were the King Shits of the Olde City nightlife some 25 years ago. Then in that same locale just a couple years earlier when it was Upstairs at Nick's, I saw the Supersuckers. Then of course there was also the Khyber Pass Pub where late Philly Legend Mikey Wilde opened up for GG Allin in '91(available on You Tube).
The Kybher Pass Pub is still there. Different owners, but is (or still used to be) a venue for smaller music acts).
I was trying to remember the other place and finally came up with the Middle East at 126 Chestnut off of 2nd. It wasn't a place that booked bands I wanted to see, but I went there to see a friend's friend friend's cover band 'Love Seed Mama Jump'(they mighta had a regular gig there at the time 25ish years ago) and one other time and a much better experience with Sabbra Cadabra, the Black Sabbath tribute band. I haven't stepped foot in the Khyber in this century. Does it still have the amazing world beer selection it did 25-30 years ago while a Lord Chesterfield Ale could be had for $2? The last time I was there the upstairs was open to go up and it was a novelty to walk up the stairs. It might have been after it reopened after a long lay off from booking shows when this occurred. @@mikeleone1347
@@varioushardcore The Middle East restaurant used to be owned by former Council man Jimmy Tayoun. Been closed probably for most of this century now. 😀 The Khyber was closed for a while during the pandemic, I think. I haven't been there in probably over a decade.
Yes, I knew ME was long gone. I only know Tayoun from ABSCAM and mishearing Peter Gabriel lyrics to Games Without Frontiers (from that time) in the line They all have hills to fly them on except for Lin Tai Yu (except for Jimmy Tayoun). I was just waxing historical minutiae from a tour of my mind related to the vicinity of that park as it was my stomping grounds for a brief minute. Didn't even mention the Ritz movie theater at the parking garage. From my search of the ME address, it was changing names all the time in the '00s. When I first went to the Khyber in 1990ish, Olde City 2nd St. was relatively quiet, but then the Continental came and trendy nightlife spread through the area becoming fratboy central and street parking became harder to find. The Khyber had a long lay off in the late 90's as well. Had to go elsewhere. into@@mikeleone1347
Fix the inflation not the statues
I agree
Whatever covers up Kensington Ave.
I love Alfred’s Alley ❤
YO SANTA
did you treat RTP to a liverwurst on rye & chicken livers from the Famous 4th Street delicatessen on this tour of olde city, Cap?.......and bring home a doggie bag for Stewie?
Pave paradise and put up a parking lot. Or in this case a park.
That is a sad little William Penn statue. It looks cheap and does not convey his personal kindness. Maybe get a better statue of Penn meeting with the Lenape. This little one could go somewhere else or get retired.
Sounds like they're not going to remove the statue.
They aren't
We loved to smoke dust by that statue

So if I go to visit Philly, would the William penn statue still be there?
Yes. The governor of Pennsylvania said the statutes are not moving
Thanks captain. Love your videos, I may plan to visit in the future
Well, I dunno where they'll keep it while they refurbish the park, but eventually it'll go back to where it is now.
Thanks for the history lesson! Great video!
You sound like the great Mikey from Philly drone life Are you brothers?
No.
Isn't most of Walnut to Chestnut already a deck park?
No, there's no deck connecting those streets over the highway, or over Delaware Ave.
@@mikeleone1347 I just looked it up - there's a deck over I95 from Chestnut to Sansom Walk (about 2/3 of the way to Walnut) but it doesn't extend over Colum...err...Delaware Ave. Thanks for the info. The plans I found look pretty impressive.
♥
Keep voting Democrat Philly!
The democrat governor just announced the statues are staying.
It's the Biden administration that wants to erase history & spend hundreds of millions doing it in the process
what does the National Parks Service have to do with Philly dems
Biden Administration wanted the statue removed
