At Mongo City, Emperor Ming shows Dale Arden the frozen form of Flash Gordon and Dale agrees to marry Ming if he will free Flash. In the meantime Zarkov and Ergon work feverishly to repair the energy shield to protect Sky City from an impending attack by Ming's robot sky forces. Princess Aura frees Flash from his ice prison and the two, with the help of Queen Undina of Coralia, blast their way into the central control area of Mingo City's defense system. Vultan and Sarin's men ultimately repel Ming's full-scale rocket attack on sky city and proceed to occupy Mongo City. Flash bursts into the wedding ceremony of Ming and Dale and after an exciting sword fight, Flash forces Ming to flee in his rocketship. Prince Barin proclaims himself as regent of Mongo and the people rejoice in their new-found freedom. The chapter ends with Flash and Dale planning exploratory visits to other parts of Mongo and the eerie, sardonic laughter of Ming emanating from out space.

Princess Aura was definitely *"the BEST-DRAWN character" in that series!* Something tells me, that *there were quite a few 'dads'* watching *Filmation's Flash Gordon* back in the 1970s.
I was a kid when this show was on NBC Saturday morning.
@@kennethdemuchest3985 Did your *'DAD'* used to *watch it with you,* back when you were a kid, on Saturday mornings?
Man, I tell You! *Princess Aura,* was the *"Jessica Rabbit"* of her day!
He would sit down with me just to watch FLash Gordon. I would watch it for the spaceships and the stories.
Surprisingly, I find Dale the least well-drawn female in the series! Even some of the warrior women that make up Aura's posse are prettier than Dale!
@@kennethdemuchest3985 So would *Dad,* I'm sure! *(Nudge! nudge! Wink! Wink! Say no more!) LOL*
Thanks for posting this was 100% better that so called film from 1980.
I am very much happy for this cartoon now I am 53 years old but when I am watching this one specially the last battle I have felt myself as was travelling in a surreal time machine.
20:28 Brave line for a circa-1980 sci-fi cartoon. In the highly-divisive reality of the 2020s, that's a painful poke in the side.
Love Ming's awesome laugh...
That evil laugh and snarl of frustration was practically the trademark of VA Alan Oppenheimer ("Oilcan Harry" in "The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse", as well)
Skeletor thinks his laugh is better.
Like the SW's TIE and X-Wing fighters, Ming's yellow and Baron's green fighter crafts balance out.
Awesome show. I only wish they had a higher budget to work with so they could have had more sound effects and didn’t have to reuse shots. I’d love to see a new live-action movie based on this show. They could finally do it with the help of CGI.
Great episode! I wish there was a soundtrack for this series. FILMATION scored a new one specifically for Flash. All of their other 70's shows essentially used music from their Star Trek animated series. I have that soundtrack. I believe every score to be new to this series with the exception of this section: 02:57This cue was used in a lot of Tarzan and later Batman and the Super 7 shows.
There are several TV soundtracks I wish could be released, and _Flash Gordon_ is at the top of my list. I am sure the music tapes were destroyed or taped over, but the sheet music probably still exists where the music could be re-recorded. There are many tracks from _Underdog_ and some from _Hogan's Heroes_ and even a couple from _Gilligan's Island_ I would love to listen to just by themselves without dialogue or sound effects.
Love this cartoon as a young feller.

Now that is what I like there, knowing exactly which characters that are actually interesting enough to become recurring characters and the characters that really aren't that great at all. Not really like the ones you see nowadays.
Same Skeletor voice actor for Ming lol!
The legendary Alan Oppenheimer- he voiced a lot of characters, back in the day, besides Skeletor!!!
5:26...Flash seems a little *too* happy that Aurora's freed him... ;)
The best episode, of the first season.
I am feeling very much emotion total adrenaline when I am watching the scene when the hawk men arms are flying and between of them are flying too the fleet of the arborian fighter ship. It appears more in the revolt of power men.
could u imagine our parents or parents parents listening to this on the radio?
There also were short films-"serials" -starring Buster Crabbe (yes, "Flash Gordon" as well as "Buck Rogers")
Some of you will probably say Thun sounds like Bluto from The All-New Popeye- Allan Melvin voiced both Thun the Lion Man and Bluto, respectively!!!
I rewatch this episode, just to see Captain Ersine get character depht.
Would have been nice if Aura and Dale had a nice big cat fight over Flash, but in the end,Barin got a wonderful prize, Princess Aura, who was probably only 19!
As TV was at the time, many a viewer was expecting such a clash between Aura and Dale. However, the typical TV "catfight" of the era was more about literally undressing one's opponent than metaphorically. In more recent years, screenwriters have "made amends" by giving female characters UFC-level fight sequences.
The closest you'll get is the "pillow fight " in the 1980 movie.
The Adventures of Flash Gordon - All Episodes (TV Movie)
Episode #1, and #16
(Chapter One, and Sixteen)
(A Planet in Peril / Ming's Last Battle)
I am appreciating this excellent final battle but I have supposed to participantes more characters not only: the hawk men, the Arborians , the coralians , the lion men and the phrygia ship. I have supposed also participantes: the blue witch's arms, the tropica arms, the desert hawk arms, the giants arms of ice land of mongu planeta and much others.
This is great seeing this again. Between the FG serials from the 30s on local TV and this series, oh man, I was eating this UP. But adding Gremlin...WTF? That was as annoying as Scrappy Doo when HE was an addition to the cartoon.
I stopped watching when the gremlin was added,NBC censors thought the cartoon was just a bit risque (remember it was 1979,),if they showed it now,it would one of the top cartoons on the Toon network.
I figure you are of an age to have seen "Fat Albert" on CBS - "the era of the Brown Hornet", if you will. My peeps.
Did the name of Mings captain Arak ever actually appear inmthis show or was it made up for the toy action figures?
Ming aveva carisma!
MING LIKE MIGIANKI
Add a comment 60 they should all work together. Let the battle begin.
Okay, does anyone else think that the narrator in the beginning sounds like Hank Hill?
Lol, it's true, the are very similar voices
So this was an animated movie with a shorter and different story line from the tv series but with the same exact ending???
they didn't resolve the cliffhanger???
The only cartoon characters who kissed on a regular basis.
as a kid for some reason I liked Dale more than Princess Aura
That's like comparing Betty Boop with Jessica Rabbit.
at least Dale Arden changed her appearance now and then, I liked her in the wedding dress, nice mid-riff
Dale al parecer es una mujer dócil y bonita. Aura tiene lo suyo pero mi modelo de mujer sigue siendo Dale
16:16
These days, that would have been followed with, "No one catches Ming over a barrel and lives!"
21:45 Whaaaat?! The creator of "Ren and Stimpy" (the most poorly-drawn animated series in the history of television, even worse than "Gumball") was a storyboard artist for Filmation's "Flash Gordon" ? How did he fall so far as to present gelatinous characters barely recognizable as a cat and dog?
What kind of crap is this? Flash defeats Ming, Prince Barin delares himself Regent?? HE didn't defeat Ming.
neither did Flash
Nobody EVER defeats Ming! He always returns... merciless!
I think he was the only potential heir to the throne, being the only Prince with ties to it.
Barin al ser futuro esposo de Aura y pertenecer a la realeza de Mongo no estuvo mal que fuera él quien reclame el trono.
