(scandalized elizabethan gasp)
Actually Queen Elizabeth loved it, and it was a popular dance in England at the time, but it was banned by Louis XIII.
@@christianeckert8573 why?
The caper was considered inelegant by Louis XIII
Tudor clergymen and a handful of others: "That's indecent!" Tudor women: "WEEE! That looks like fun! Let's try it!"
@@Conn30Mtenorit IS fun. I performed it at university when I was in the Renaissance Dance club.
This helps me understand different historical things I read on a higher level. Thank you for this!
What a beautiful and elegant dance!
The woman seems to be weightless while her partner lifts her up.
I do love Medieval dances and do wish I could find a place to learn them
@@ronaldmessina4229where do you live, Ronald? There are plenty of groups doing Renaissance dance and they are ALWAYS short of men! Worth googling to see if there is a group in your area.
I’m writing a novel about the Tudor court and seeing dances like these gets me so inspired! I can really imagine the characters dancing like this!
How is it going? :D
@@fangirlinneverland6335they danced the Volta together and it was a lot of fun to write! The sweating sickness wasn’t so fun though 😂
I love this dance! I performed it in the good old days when I was at uni.
I’ve danced this dance many times myself. It’s good fun.
Ah, if I could only learn to dance like that!!!!
This looks like a great deal of fun.
Que técnica para bailar! Parece que flotaran! Bellísimo!!!!
This is like a pas de deux and a Regency era waltz all in one.
Simple clean. Well done!
There is a scene in the 1994 film, La Reine Margot, where you briefly see couples dancing in the background to the wedding celebrations. The men are lifting/spinning their partners around. I was wondering if someone could tell me if that dance is a version of La Volta?
L'antenata di tutte le danze di coppia...
scandalous......what , where........very nicely performed..............
I love that!!!
Is this the one queen Elizabeth was obsessed with?😉
Yes!

Is the guy boosting the woman into the air with his knee?
Correctly she should sort of sit on his knee while he lifts her
was here from bjork lol
THIS DANCE STILL NEEDS IMPROVING OR IT ISNT 100 % ACCURATE OR INSPIRED PUT IN PLAY!
At that time , actually touching your partner would have been thought of a scandalous thing !
I swear the female partner was lifted in a different manner than this.
I think it´s a misinterpretation of the sources, I'm trying to figure out what source it is.
who are the dancers?
Students of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music
bjork
