Why is Lapras always the sacrificial pokemon that would carry literally almost every single kanto runs for almost every players ever. This is why I'm very emotionally attached to lapras.
I'm pretty sure Koga's gym was supposed to be more about status conditions than the type specialty. I could be wrong, tho since his team was full poison, as were most of the gym trainers. That would be a cool redesign concept for his gym for when we inevitably revisit Kanto for the hundredth time
They did this in Let's Go. Koga's Gym Trainers usually have Poison-Types with Toxic and Protect for stall strats, but Koga's team can be easily beaten regardless.

Just finished my first nuzloke about a week ago, since Sword was pretty easy the first time around. I lost 17 out of my 38 pokemon. Now, I’m doing a run where I can catch whatever I want; but I have to retire my current team after each gym badge.
I usually go with Jolteon with Pin Missile. It's been a long time since FRLG for me so my most recent playthroughs are for BRY and the Jolteon having high Special helps it tank the Psychic hits a lot better.
Only Generation 5 buffed it. Acting like a Focus Sash, while blocking one hit moves. I did a nuzlocke of Pokemon Black 2, and oh my god, Sturdy was my favorite Pokemon ability now. This luck runs out when I go battle Paul, however. I lost the strongest Pokemon, Magneto. I found Magneto as a Magnemite (Virbank Complex) As a Magneton when it evolved during the leveling As a Magnezone when it evolved in the Chargestone Cave. It was basically my favorite Pokemon, and simply seeing Magnezone die makes it worse. Pokemon Black 2: Extra Chapter: Saddened Sunny: (cries) Amphy (Ampharos): It's going to be okay, Sunny... Klonoa (Lopunny): Oh dear... Poor Sunny has to go ahead and level up her Trapinch. Kirby (Samurott): Mina died during a trainer battle, Nights died during the leveling session, Phoebe died from a Battle Girl, and now poor Magneto... When will the suffering end for Sunny... Jitterbug (Leavanny): Sunny... Please use the Trapinch that you're going to use. Sunny (Rosa): Fine. I'll use Trapinch. Her Pokemon: Yay! Sunny (Rosa): I'll have to make sure no more Pokemon die.
Man that was stupid how it used to work. One-Hit KO moves were very rare as is and they do not hit too often. Glad they gave it the buff for any move that would ordinary one shot it sturdy will prevent (especially since most Pokemon with Sturdy are Rock/Ground times and are 4x weak to both Grass and Water, two of the most common types to encounter in the series

Nostalgic me wants to say it sucks that they got rid of the game corner, but 15-Years-Later-Rational-Adult me thinks maybe it was for the best 😂
I've never even used them in my games, never had the patience. But it feels like a missed opportunity, the game corner always had such good tms and in kanto they had pokemon. Kind of wish they had something like that in their place. But it's always kind of funny to see what the remakes replace the game corner with.

The guy who had been feeding him bad info in this run? He didn't realize that Sturdy was a terrible Ability before they buffed it somewhere later on. It only blocked Moves that always deal a 1 hit ko if it hits. It's only till later (Gen 5 I think?) when Sturdy gives you effectively a free Focus Sash at full HP like how Focus Sash works. Dropping the Pokemon who endured the otherwise fatal hit, down to 1 HP.

Why use dig? Arcanine had bite! You know, a physical dark type move that's super effective against psychic types which Alakazam is and since it's physical and Alakazam's physical defense is hot garbage! I completely agree that he shouldn't have used flamethrower, and yes bite has slightly list power than dig but it has the bonus of being super effective.

I always make sure when I face Sabrina I have one or two pokemon that have bite/crunch and an over leveled Haunter that has Shadow Ball and Shadow Punch.
Watching this video was like experiencing torture all over, and can easily understand the confusion with sturdy as i thought the same thing when i tried a rock nuzlocke on soul silver with golem, where i thought sturdy would protect your pokemon from dying in one hit but that didn't happen until gen 5 as prior to gen 4 i finally realised last year that sturdy only protects pokemon from 1 hit ko moves being sheer cold, guillotine, fissure and horn drill, so was easy to mix up the 2 together back then
You should try watching Fildrong's run of Pokemon salty platinum (a fangame, it's sadly in french but the run was bloody. All had strategic sets and ... Yeah. More than a whole box of deaths and he was playing WELL)
I remember my first Nuzlocke cause it happened right after this Alpharad video. If you think he was desensitized fast, I lost all my Pokemon I had except Magnemite by the end of the second gym (white 2 btw), and frankly even now, having lost the whole run to the 7th gym's cheating haxorus and having nearly reached the final trial in my current Pokemon Sun Nuzlocke, I still don't think any loss has hit me as hard as those first couple in White 2. Not even Woody the trumbeak, who is the only reason I didn't perish to Hala.
Something I did not mention about that sun nuzlocke I lost all my pokemon to the fire trial *except* Magnemite. It is the MVP of every Nuzlocke I've done, win or loss.
I love how this guy was able to bounce back after so many mistakes because he was playing a really easy game. While his friends are extremely bad, I like how it provided humor, entertainment, and content and how he persevered and beat the nuzlocke in spite of his friends.
Speaking from personal experience here, snorlax could have swept sabrina’s entire gym practically. from the moment of capture. If it was level 34 going into the gym, he would have had no problems if he used it by itself.
I'll watch this reaction but I won't watch the original video. Alpharad doesn't want me to do that until we've completed our collaboration on Miitopia.

Does everyone here in the comments too forget the item VS SEEKER? DAMN FIRE RED IS THE EASIEST GAME TO OVERLEVEL.
Why use dig? Arcanine had bite! You know, a physical dark type move that's super effective against psychic types which Alakazam is and since it's physical and Alakazam's physical defense is hot garbage!
I completely agree that he shouldn't have used flamethrower, and yes bite has slightly list power than dig but it has the bonus of being super effective.

Watching this video was like experiencing torture all over, and can easily understand the confusion with sturdy as i thought the same thing when i tried a rock nuzlocke on soul silver with golem, where i thought sturdy would protect your pokemon from dying in one hit but that didn't happen until gen 5 as prior to gen 4 i finally realised last year that sturdy only protects pokemon from 1 hit ko moves being sheer cold, guillotine, fissure and horn drill, so was easy to mix up the 2 together back then

I remember my first Nuzlocke cause it happened right after this Alpharad video. If you think he was desensitized fast, I lost all my Pokemon I had except Magnemite by the end of the second gym (white 2 btw), and frankly even now, having lost the whole run to the 7th gym's cheating haxorus and having nearly reached the final trial in my current Pokemon Sun Nuzlocke, I still don't think any loss has hit me as hard as those first couple in White 2. Not even Woody the trumbeak, who is the only reason I didn't perish to Hala.

I love how this guy was able to bounce back after so many mistakes because he was playing a really easy game. While his friends are extremely bad, I like how it provided humor, entertainment, and content and how he persevered and beat the nuzlocke in spite of his friends.

Speaking from personal experience here, snorlax could have swept sabrina’s entire gym practically. from the moment of capture. If it was level 34 going into the gym, he would have had no problems if he used it by itself.
He made a lot of mistakes with sabrina. Like using flamethrower with hotdog and letting alakazam get too powerful

What I've done with a Lvl 50 Beedrill is sweep Sabrina's Gym. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE MIGHTY BEE!
