Kenneth Lofton Jr WAIVED AGAIN! Was He Too BIG For The NBA? Stunted Growth

  • Just a few days ago Kenneth Lofton Jr was waived for the second time in not even two seasons in the NBA. Two playoffs contenders in the Sixers and Grizzlies have both expressed in so many words that right now Kenny Lofton Jr isn’t who they thought he would be, and for now isn’t able to help their team. But why? Why can’t this once prototypical basketball big man not easily catch on to an NBA team in this era? One who was not too long ago dominating Victor Wembanyama and is currently dominating the NBA G League as well. At a generous 6’6 275lb and a rounded figure, some believe he’s too big to be productive in the NBA, big as in weight he hasn’t seemed to fully get under control since his college years. This weight issue is the most glooming when you see Lofton Jr, causing many, possibly including the league he works for, to view him as slow, lacking foot speed, or athleticism to keep up on offense and defense. But as history and record has shown, Kenneth Lofton Jr has been dominating his competition at that size and weight since high school and internationally, including the projected rookie of the year and generational talent Victor Wembanyama. Now he’s left looking for a chance anywhere he can in the NBA, far different from the outlook he had when he left Louisiana Tech early after just his sophomore season for the NBA. He went undrafted that year, and has been on a fight ever since to prove he deserves a real opportunity. 3 reasons Kenneth Lofton Jr can’t stick in the NBA right now. Kenneth Lofton Jr WAIVED AGAIN! Was He Too BIG For The NBA? Stunted Growth

      Fat Boy work ethic doesn't translate in the Pros. Zion is the exception and he's slowly learning to trade in them fried corn chips and curly fries for lean protein and good carbs. I used to be an overweight teen myself til I reached puberty and started liking girls. Kenny needs to learn from Charles Barkley who dropped about 30 lbs after going from college to the Pros. Barkley was known as the round mound of rebound at Auburn and would eat a large pizza in one serving.

    • @Kagemusha08
      @Kagemusha08 Před 3 měsíci +20

      He can play for sure. But managers and coaches really care about character. They don't want to invest millions of dollars and a roster spot on a guy with limited growth potential. And if Lofton isn't willing to work and lose weight when he's on a 2-way deal and not even making the big bucks yet, what does that say about his work ethic? This is how teams ultimately think.

There's also the overseas route that COULD help him mount a comeback, but that's an absolute last resort right now

  • @youtubeguy9316
    @youtubeguy9316 Před 3 měsíci +107

    I’m a grizzlies fan, he can score but he refused to lose weight, we signed him to a two way contract and then gave him a contract last year and this year we had injuries and it was open for end of the bench guys like him to get more minutes. What does he do he comes into the season fatter and his family was upset we didn’t play him. Like your 21-22 you came into the nba fat and we gave you a chance and had a healthy summer to lose weight and he came back 20 or 30 pounds heavier he fucked him self up he killed his career because teams want to give him a chance but if you can’t lose weight and show you can do something then teams will do what the grizzlies did and not play you unless we have no choice and do what the Sixers just did waive you because u can’t do anything on the floor but score as an under sized big man at 6’7 that can’t shot block and can’t at least body your play player on defense. I wish the young man the best but seriously he was given the chance and he was like a lot of extremely gifted athletes. He half assed on certain things because his talent level was so much higher than everyone else he played with or against until he got to the professional level and his talent wasn’t higher than everyone and the things he didn’t care about as much were the thing that got him kicked out the league. Conditioning,working on other things besides offense, keeping your family off social media yapping about playing time when they see the problem just like we do. Lofton is a player that will get more chances over seas and will get a summer league deal to try and make a roster next year because he’s still young and he’s a pretty rememberable player but him being waived is all on him.

    What I can't grasp about people saying "Kenny needs to lose weight" the guy has proven that he's effective at his weight and his body is what makes him effective overall. Don't get me wrong i think he has game in general, he proved that himself with 40+ point games, but i guess it must be some other reasons why teams waived him. Really hope it works out for him, feel like he can be a really useful player to a playoff team.

Dude for sure knows how to play, but he’s definitely gonna need to lose at least some of that weight just for the teams image. I imagine teams like Phila and Memphis said he wasn’t what they thought he would be when they knew he wasn’t going to really be able to shape up. Maybe they both expected him to be able to drop some weight with their training staff but quickly realized that wasn’t the case. At least dude got to play in the NBA, would still make a great G-league player.
