What is interesting and unique about your reaction is that you actually react to the SONG and LYRICS(meaning of the song) and not their faces . Most of people only react to the MV like "ooh she is pretty" "oh that outfit is gorgeous on her" which proves that sadly kpop has become extremely artificial and only based on look. My loose interpretation of the video is that you were correct, it is a mission. The cats represent Schrodinger's cat (they used it in Scientist). The mission is to free the cats from control to force the decision of is it love, thus opening the box that Schrodinger's cat is in. (There is someone stroking the cat that is on the screen a la James Bond Blofeld) The imagery at the end is that of an Apple commercial for Macintosh from the 1980's. Where IBM had the population under control, just as this Bond-like villian has the cats under control. The throwing the hammer recreates the Apple commercial breaking the villian's hold, in this case the cats, so they can elicit the direct answer about love.

So Twice is actually the group that got me into kpop so this group will always have a place in my heart lol, the first song kpop song I heard was Fancy by Twice and and I basically just kept streaming their music, watch their fam cams, and even interviews and I realized I stanned the group when I memorized all their names also getting to know them through interviews.
