Leona I'm just gonna list how studying in Malaysia can be just as shitty to make you not romanticize Malaysia ok. This is good for you, just trust me, negative vibes only:
1. In Malaysia uni students have to take public transport all the time too, if we're studying locally gurll best believe we ain't got that disposable Grab money, strictly RapidKL and LRT/KTM. But on top of that the public transport here are not punctual/reliable at all.
2. Like I said we are broke, so just because Malaysia got good food doesn't mean we can afford them. So we eat instant food all the time, but most public uni accommodation doesn't allow cooking, no pantry whatsoever so that maggi rendam air panas je, which somehow istg tastes better when you're broke and hungry.
3. Uni life can be just as lonely even when you're in Msia, we're placed with people from different walks of life, different upbringing, personalities, sometimes we don't have much things in common with the people around us which led us to doing the things that we like alone most of the time. And that's okay, I would dare to even say that's GREAT because it's a sign that you're shifting away from that highschooler mob mentality to your own independent being. Even if it feels like everyone on socmed who studies locally are so tight-knit, trust me it's just like 20% of the total equation, you're not in the odd.
4. This one might not be related to uni life, but I too once felt a sense of loss when I look at my internship days. It felt like I've lost such a good community and work environment. The reality is our internship days are never the reality, it feels perfect because we're an intern. Unlike how we see things in movies, a lot of places treat intern with so much mercy and they don't give us heavy tasks because it's not within our capacity. On top of that, most of the time we'll be doing our internship with our peers, so it's easier to bond. Things are not the same in the real work life. It took me quite sometime to realise why I can't seem to find that feeling anymore after my internship.
This is not in any way trying to compare our hardships, I just don't want the things you see online fool you about what it's actually like to be studying locally. I feel you in a lot of ways and I wish you the best Leona.
