      Very cool. It’s an awesome trail. I don’t know if they have ever repaired the trail up by Lumberville.

      @@RideAlongAdventures Oh OK. Next time I am up there, I can go with my sister and see. She lives about 15 minutes from Washington's Tow Path, BTW. You are right, what a nice place to just mellow out and ride.

      Wow, thanks for the kind words. I almost always put my GoPro on the bike when I go out. But I only turn the footage into videos maybe 10% of the time. Thanks for watching!

    Looked very nice! That has to be the narrowest and (apparently) shallowest canal I have ever seen. The canal de Castillo along the Camino in Spain was similar but not that narrow or shallow. Some digging says the canal and the tow path was approximately 50 feet wide in total, and 5 feet deep so I’m guessing the land has encroached. Thanks for sharing, well done.

      it's really a great little ride with great little towns to stop in. it's about 45 minutes from my home so I do this one a lot.

      I'm from Solebury Township. I lived along the canal. 60 years ago when I left, the canal was filled and flowing. There were even barges filled with partiers from New Hope to above Centre Bridge. In the Winter people skated on it.
      What I see now is a horrid foetid swamp half filled in.. I want to cry. For what that rich little community takes in in taxes, It really should keep up its crown jewel.

    This is the trail I ride on a weekly basis! Awesome to see you on there! It is still damaged from Ida last year in different sections! My favorite section is from Bull’s Island to Frenchtown & back on the Pa side to the pedestrian bridge. Unfortunately, that’s where there are some damaged sections.

      It’s really a beautiful trail. I live about an hour away so it’s a quick trip. I’d really like to do and end to end ride some time. PA is so awesome for trail rides.

    This was cool to watch. But you never made it to Easton. Your segments were out of order so it was impossible to follow this route Nevertheless, fun to watch. I've been waiting to do the Delaware end of the D&L Canal Trail and am disappointed that you didn't show this part. But the trail might still have been closed 10 months ago when you did this.
    You should do the trail west from Easton along the Lehigh River. There's some beautiful biking in the first 10 miles of the D&L. I'm hoping you're planning a trip from the top of the D&L in the Poconos, to Easton....my next day trip adventure. It's about 60 miles. It goes thru the Lehigh Gorge, which I've heard it beautiful. Please do more Friend!

      Thanks, Brian. Yeah, this was just a loop (Washington Crossing to Lumberville, then I crossed over to the NJ side to return. Maybe that was confusing. The trail was closed north to Easton (Ida damage) and south to Trenton (construction). I’d really like to do a full ride some day. I’ve ridden Easton southward a few times. Beautiful countryside. And I’ve ridden up by Jim Thorpe. It’s a treasure to have that basically in my backyard. Thanks for watching!

      @RideAlongAdventures  Před rokem +2

      this video was from over a year ago so i don't know if the damage is still there but the trail was really torn up near Lumberville (PA). Beyond there, I was told it would be years before the trail reconnected towards Easton. Regardless, it's a beautiful trail and if you cross the river at Lumberville, you can make a really nice loop of the river.

    The Lehigh is behind my house...just 200 feet down the hill. I live in Easton and the D&L across the river from my windows is such a draw, just beckoning constantly. My wife and I watch riders from our deck while, often around beer O'clock. But so far riding trails is new to me and I've only gone as far as Allentown. Your videos confirm for me that the draw is real and trips necessary. Do you have any plans for a trip from Jim Thorpe south? There is a train that runs bikers up the river about 25 miles, from Jim Thorpe, so you can ride back down, thru the Lehigh Gorge. I'll be watching for more vids!

      Wow. Lucky you! I’ve been thinking of an end-to-end…Bristol to…white haven? I’m not totally sure where it ends. Regardless, beautiful land. Hope you enjoy it!

    How can I find free places to park to access the trail?

    • @RideAlongAdventures
      @RideAlongAdventures  Před 9 měsíci +1

      You can refer to: dandrcanal.org/about-d-r-canal-state-park/parking-areas-2
      I usually park on Washington Crossing because it’s usually empty and makes for a nice loop if you head north. Enjoy!

    Very nice video that you captured every inch of the 26 mile ride. Could you tell me what video camera you used? I had a helmet mounted GoPro when I rode the D&L up in the Jim Thorpe area but I burned through so many batteries and SIM cards trying to capture ever inch of my 30 mile ride as you did in this video. If you do have a GoPro, can you tell me if you used a certain video recording setting to maximize battery and SIM card life. Thanks.

    • @RideAlongAdventures
      @RideAlongAdventures  Před 2 lety

      yeah, I have a GoPro 7 black. I carry at least three batteries. I get about 45 minutes out of standard batteries. I film at 2.7K, 60fps. Having said that, I've been through a slew of batteries that just died, wouldn't hold a charge. Seems like they last for about a year. Man, I want to get back up to D&L--that's such a beautiful area.
