- AP excerpt (January 16, 1998): Pasha Grishuk and Yevgeny Platov moved up from second place yesterday in Milan and won the European ice dancing title -- their 21st straight victory -- with a dramatic free skate that earned four perfect 6.0s.
Trailing Russian compatriots Anjelika Krylova and Oleg Ovsyannikov because of a fall by Platov during the original dance, the reigning Oly. and world champions were brilliant skating to Michael Nyman's haunting "Memorial Requiem."
"I'm so happy and relieved," Platov said. "After yesterday's mistake, there was so much pressure."
With their difficult maneuvers and artistic touch, the three-time European titlists are considered the prohibitive favorites for an unprecedented repeat ice dancing Oly. gold medal next month in Nagano."

Not a good skate for G&P. But if they were going to lose to anyone, IMO it would've been to A&P and not K&O. While Memorial Requiem was my favourite FD from that season, A&P's R&J free dance was seamless and came the closest to matching G&P's FD in terms of content.
