    From the middle of the 1990s, only a handful of years after Pro-Ject Audio Systems was founded and right at the peak of CD’s popularity, we could already see the growing number of people missing analogue music. In 1998 Heinz Lichtenegger and his UK distributor and longtime friend, Laurence Armstrong, were sitting together dreaming of a record player that would make analogue sound accessible to more people. They wanted a new model that could deliver as close to high-end sound as possible, but at a price that a new younger generation could afford. Thanks to their dear friend and ProJect’s original product manager, Jiri Kroutil, within only a few days they had a sample and the Debut was born.
    Today, after more than 20 years, the Debut is one of the best-selling products in the history of hi-fi with close to 1 million units sold. As it made listening to vinyl an affordable option for music lovers, with its minimalist aesthetic and premium finish options it also made analogue fashionable again. Through the years we constantly kept improving our formula, moving with technologies and fashion trends. In the early 2010s, the Debut Carbon gave new life to the ongoing Debut revolution and now in 2020, it is time for the next generation.
    The Debut Carbon is already nearly the perfect turntable, especially considering the price badge and the used materials. Now we took our time to think again. We have done a lot of research to make the Debut Carbon even better, but our main objective has not changed over the years. We still want to build an affordable high-performance turntable that not just looks incredibly luxurious and modern, but also features a great sound quality.
    The Debut Carbon EVO focuses on the core aspects that make a turntable sound great. Technically correct design - expert craftsmanship - handmade in the EU. This turntable is built to last you a lifetime!
    Additional features that might negatively impact the overall audio performance or longevity are left out. At that level of sonic performance, it is always better to opt for a separate phono stage. If you want Bluetooth connectivity or a USB interface - we offer a broad portfolio of components at different performance levels to suit your budget.

Detailed and step by step with out sounding like you're talking down to use audiophiles with toddler levels of technical knowledge 🙂 I'm still setting up my system and haven't yet decided whether or not to go with a turntable at all, vs. a solid hi-rez DAP. Thanks for explaining about the anti-skate weight, for the life of me couldn't see the bloody fishing line attached to it when it was in the plastic bag. One thing though - the little triangle adaptor is for 45s, not 78s. Most Australian-pressed 7" singles @ 45 RPM had a small hole in the centre, like an LP. However, lots of overseas 7" singles had a large hole in the middle; that's what the adaptor is for. It even says so in the setup guide - b) Adapter for 7" singles. I have quite a few of them (overseas 45s). Never seen 78s with a large hole like that but that's not to say they don't exist. Cheers.

    • @LutherusPandragon
      @LutherusPandragon Před 2 lety

      So in Australia you had same 45s as we had in Europe? That is interesting, i really didnt know that. Thanks for information.

    • @severnsea
      @severnsea Před rokem

      Yep, in the UK the adapter is for 7" singles. Back in the day, juke boxes that you found on pubs and the like had to use 7" records with a large center holes cut into them. A lot of US singles also had a large center hole. That's what the adapter is for. 78's never had a large center hole.

    I find pushing the stylus and cartridge as far forward as possible and making it well aligned is also key. I've found that Carbon Evo turntables out of factory require this. By the way the RCA cables need to go the other way around. As per pro-jects instructions "The yellow marked side should always be connected to the receiving end."

    The part about cable connection is confusing. You should actually put yellow marked end of the RCA cable into preamp/amp as it stated in the manual, not into turntable.
    A quote from the Connect It E description:
    As the Connect it E cable is a parallel symmetrical cable the shield is only connected on one end. The yellow mark indicates this side. The marked side should always be connected to the receiving end (i.e. phono stage or amplifier).

    @hmrowland6114 Před 3 lety +6

    Probably never use the 78 adapter? I think you underestimate the power of shellac. I'm pretty sure that adapter is for 45s not 78s. Great to see the 78 belt included, however, the stylus would ha e to be changed for 78s which have round groves no V shaped.

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 3 lety

      I own this turntable and I can confirm that the adaptor is for 78s with the rocker switch allowing you to swap between 33's and 45's. We do occasionally get people asking us about playing 78's but usually its for preservation purposes.

      Hey there, once you get it balanced so that it floats that is your reference of 0 grams weight. So when you then set the numbers to 0 and then twist the counter weight to 1.7, the arm will gain weight and shouldnt float any longer. Hope this helps!

If I like the Cambridge Axa35 amp would that be compatible with the Pro Ject Debut Carbon Evo? 🤔 Ultimately all I want to do is sit in my chair with my headphones on and listen to my albums, maybe sipping on a scotch 🥃
