Thanks for watching the ad, guys. Appreciate the feature and genuine reactions. Glad to have touched the both of you emotionally. Regarding some of your queries:
    1. After fasting in Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid. It's the biggest celebration of the year for us. For the past 2 years though, Eid has not been the same due to Covid, at least in Malaysia.
    2. This is indeed inspired by a true story of a lady who kept sending food to her late husband's workplace every day for over 35 years after his death. We made some changes to fit in with the current situation (featuring an ambulance driver, a teacher, and a doctor) as a dedication to the frontliners and the families behind them.
    3. The end says "A love so deep, could never depart, As pure as a gift right from the heart", followed by the black screen which says "Al-fatihah (from the Quran) in memory of those who are no longer with us this Eid" also as a dedication to the lives lost due to Covid.
Kudos to Phezz for being able to guess the storyline earlier on.
    Thank you.

yup. It is a true story happened in 1975 when her policeman husband and 3 others were brutally killed and dismembered by the communist insurgents in Grik, Perak, Malaysia.
Prior to the killing she used to cycle 5Km from her house to the police station sending foods when her husband was on duty at the station. But the killing happened when her husband and his 3 other colleages were on duty sending rations by river boats to other police posts and got ambushed by the communist insurgents.
She is now 82 yrs of age.

The arabic word at the end was Al-Fatihah which is the first surah/chapter in Quran that we can recite for those who passed away so they can get the reward. The malay word below that said" For those who are no longer with us this Syawal (Eid month)"

In Malaysia, we are so diverse that we celebrated many festivals. Eid fitri ( the celebrations after the fasting month of Ramadhan) Chinese New year, Deepavalli ( festival of lights for the Indian) and of course Christmas. It is very common for the Malaysian media to produce special ads to celebrate these festivals. So these ads are not normal and only pop up during this special times. Most of these ads are very deep and emotional. It represents our country, our people and our culture. We are of different faith but we belong together and this is what these companies wanted to show on their ads. Values and morals are pivotal in Malaysia.
You will see more of this. My point is, in this modern world we lost touch with reality, relationship, friendship, family ties etc etc but thesse Ads brought us back to the days when things were much simpler and valued more because of the simplicity. Thanks for watching and discussing this. Your empathy is awesome.

    Some info on the ad:-
    • *MANGKUK TINGKAT* = Multi-layer/stack-up container; in this case the 3-layers 'green-yellow~ish' food container that she bought for her husband. This container is rarely seen nowadays in real life.
    • *MAK TEH* - An honorary title (nickname) that given to any women that are the fourth child in their family. 'Mak' is a shorten word for 'Emak' which translated as 'Mom/Mother'... This given nickname are commonly use by people from the old days (I think, nowadays people seldomly use this nickname..Hahaha)
    • *SAJI* = Is a brand name. Which in the old days are commonly known for a company that manufacture the palm oil for cooking. Nowadays, there are more than just the cooking palm oil product being produce by the company as seen in the ad.
    • *EID* = As shorten word for 'Eid-ul Fitr' or Aidilfitri in common Malay word. It's the celebration that Muslim held to celebrate the end of fasting month which is called 'Ramadhan'.

In Malaysia, these brands like to compete with each other to produce their own Raya (Eid) advertisement every year. It will be aired on the Eid day.
Before, we kind of waiting for Petronas advertisement. Somes are touching stories, some are funny but all really goes into our heart. But now, lots of other brands follow.
This "Mangkuk Tingkat" was based on true story. Only that the deceased father was actually a policeman. The wive make it a routine until years back when she fell off the bicycle. So, the children forbid her not to do so again, worry about her safety more.
However, because of her determination, one of her children take her to the police station only once a week for her to deliver some simple food like sweets or candy. The mother is already in her 80s now, unable to cook heavy meals like she used to anymore.
Everytime I watched this, never fail to cry. Haha.

But yeah, kudos to SAJI for using the story as an inspiration, and thanks to @The Commodity for picking this up. And yeah, there are quite a number of very capable story-writers in Malaysia who can produce similarly 8:44 "tough food commercials!"

This is based on a true story..the real story was happened in Gerik Police Station, Perak. Her husband worked as a police officer and was tortured and killed by a communist in early 70s (i think, i forgot the year). She keeps on sending foods for her husband to the police station (after her husband's death) for more than 30 years. For this ad, they changed it a little bit to ambulance driver to suit the current pandemic situation. TQ both of u..

Everybody are looking forward for it ..it's like the highlight for the day..usually the table will be full with scrumptious dishes...🙂..therefore it's not weird if some might even gained weight during Ramadan!😅

we have tonnes of tearjerking telemovies especially in the 90's and early 2000. Nowadays it can be a hit or miss, however there are newer telemovies that have good storylines, reminiscent of the old days, while incorporating newer elements. They also sometimes add some interesting plot twists, which rarely present in older ones.

First of all.. Tqsm for the reaction... SAJI is a cooking oil product and others related to food n drinks. The story is about a family.. A couple living during ramadhan..
Initially.. A old couple rutin in every year during ramadhan. Mak teh.. Name of the wife of pak teh.. (mr & mrs teh).. Which pak teh is a ambulance driver but sadly he has passaway 5 year ago. Thier daughter knows that her mom keep sending food for her husband for breaks the fasting.... & this tear the clinic has a new doctor.. N he return the mangkuk tingkat ( multi level container).. The doctor is touch n try to remind mak teh to telling her that pak teh is dead 5 years ago... When he returned the container... So that in the earlier of the advertisement.. She was preparing pak teh.. favourite foods... Was a illusion of the past.. She missed her husband terribly.. N by doing (sending the food...) is to remembering of her late husband...
Every time i watch.. I definitely crys... If you having sense of love.. You will cry too. And the this is advertisement is base on a true story which state inthe beginning.. "satu kisah benar /base on a true story...
Won't you feel sad.. Missing your love ones during.. Christmas.. Same goes to mak teh...

    Appreciate your review and insights!
    Hi Guys
    Sharing some side info -
    The wife - Teh
    The hubby - Din
The daughter is a teacher - thus 'cikgu'
Culturally we call the elderly 'Abang' (for men) or 'Mak' or Auntie' (for women).
'Mangkuk' is the container for takeaway meal. 'Tingkat' is multi level.
Saji is a name fora few cooking products and also a cordial drink.
Iftar is breaking of fast at sunset.
Mak Teh was preparing Abang Din's favorite meal for iftar but since he had to work late shift, she said she will send some takeaway to him at the clinic.
That was the last time they see of him. He died in an accident in the rain.
'Eid' is celebration at end of ramadan.
The doc and male nurse came to visit Mak Teh on the eve of eid. You can hear the sound of eid prayers in the background.
This is based on a true story.
While we are blessed to hv the opportunity to spend Eid or Christmas with our loved ones. Some are not so lucky.
She still thinks her husband is still alive.
This advertisement is to remind how lucky we are to be able to be among family in such times and not take their presence for granted.

As Eid ul Fitr or Hari Raya, (as popularly known here in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia) is approaching during the last few days of Ramadhan, Muslims here will be busy and excited with all the festive preparations and expectations. After going through the spiritual challenges of the annual holy month of Ramadhan with all the special prayers, charity works, lack of sleep, fasting, self control / discipline, be mindful & patient and various other acts of worships, the emergence of Eid though festive, will also be celebrated with loads of self reflections, gratitude, forgiveness and acts of kindness to oneself, loved ones and the community. More of joy in piety to the Almighty Creator. So emotional commercials like this towards the end of Ramadhan are so appropriate in my opinion.
