- Today on 30A Misfits, we take our adventures off of 30A and north, to Defuniak Springs, for our first episode of 30A Misfits: OFFROAD. We start our trip with some mix tape roulette, discover some local art at a coffee shop, experience cuteness overload feeding some baby ducks, try some sushi at a famous hot dog stand, find the best milkshakes in Walton County, and end our day taking in some beautiful views at a local park.

I (Erica) am originally from North Central Florida, and David is from North Central Kansas. We met on 30A Florida and fell in love. The 30A name comes from a road in South Walton County (County Road 30A) that spans roughly 20 miles along the Florida Panhandle coastline. It can be found in the stretch between Destin and Panama City Beach. We got married at Camp Helen State Park in Inlet Beach, and live in Seagrove Beach on 30A, where David has resided for 14 years and we’ve resided together for 5 years. We wanted to start a CZcams Channel that would better reflect the interactions we have with the businesses and people living on 30A year round. Most videos are from real estate agents talking about the thousands of incredible multi-million dollar homes here, and the lifestyle that comes along with #beachlife. We started the 30A Misfits travelvlog to share our “real-life” experiences with locals and tourists on the Emerald Coast, and specifically 30A locals, and the millions of people that vacation on 30A in Florida every year.
In the 30A area, you'll find the beach communities of Dune Allen Beach, Gulf Place, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, WaterColor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, WaterSound, Alys Beach, Seacrest, Rosemary Beach, and Inlet Beach.

My family has had 25 years of family reunions at Lake Stanley and so glad that I videoed those memories to share with my family now.
We would go down and swim at Lake Stanley at least one time a week.

My old hometown, thanks for visiting and filming, brings back lots of memories of living in that town going to school walking through the lakeyard, treat or treating at those big houses on Circle Drive, back in the early 1950's and 1960's the lakeyard was the place to go on weekends for my family and friends. Maude Saunders was the name of the school we went to. Great video and thanks again for the memories.
We spent 9 months living there recently and we absolutely loved it. The people are amazing and I love how much pride they have for their town. It truly was a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.

You might want to check out Wewahitchka Florida close to Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach.Wewahitchka if I spelled it correctly is the home of Tupelo Honey,the Dead Lakes and it was also where the movie Ulee's Gold was filmed at starring Peter Fonda..I just like catchy town names.
We have been meaning to do tours over that way and haven't go to it yet however we will. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

This is the town I grew up in! I use to work at the Ed's restaurant and I know the owners of the hot dog place y'all ate at. If y'all ever come back down you should stop at McLains steak house and seafood. It's the best place to go for great home cooked meals and our coffee tastes amazing as well!

@@lisamullins2495 That's funny because while we were at the falls we talked with another couple about the Caverns and how it would make a great video. We are definitely in the beginning planning stages to make a trip there.

Apparently there's going to be even more stuff going into the downtown eventually. And hopefully that doesn't mean an office and an actual brick and mortar Ma and Pop of some sort.
Only downside I've seen so far are the events I've gone to have been pretty small, but it's a tiny town. And I'm use to a city of 100,000 people and a much bigger downtown, which normally goes big or goes home when it's time to roll out the festivals and events lol. It's definitely a culture shock.

A friend of mine that lives in Defuniak Springs suggested this video to get a pee at her home town. Now I want to find an apartment and live there for awhile (if I can find a way to explain to my wife that the humidity really isn't that bad) (hurricanes too) (I'm not afraid of either one) (but then again I'm not as smart as my wife or I probably wouldn't be talking in parenthesis).

Yes! We never knew exactly where, in Defuniak, it was until we we were shooting the episode. We had a friend there that was a bartender and she would always talk about it. With Halloween and Christmas coming up we will probably be back a couple times before the end of the year. We will definitely check it out.
From there. Actually a boring existence. But it obviously works for some.

LOL David here, I burnt those in college when burning CDs was easy and legal...ish. It was an opportunity to show off my DJ skills. That's one of the few surviving CDs that is left of the BIG Daddy collection.
