My uncle was an 80+ year old US WWII vet who retired in Germany. His favorite TV show was Walker Texas Ranger but it was dubbed in German. Very funny to see Walker enter a bar and say “Guten Tag”
I lived in Germany for a few years after I got out of the army. What surprised me was that the “dubbed” voices are the voices recognized by the Germans. For example, my wife and I were in the kitchen and the TV was on in the living room. The movie that came on was apparently a John Wayne film. My wife said, (in German, she had only a slight working knowledge of English) “Oh, John Wayne is on TV.” I thought it was comical because 1) John Wayne has a VERY distinct style of speaking, and 2)the dubbed German voices are always in High German, derived from Hannover as the standard for proper German, much like Oxford English as the standard for proper English, so they never have any dialects or “accents”, unless you consider High German an accent.
I took her to the theatre on base and we watched Rocky IV. She was constantly asking me what Rocky was saying. I couldn’t understand his mush mouth and I told her I didn’t know. We went to see the same movie in a German theater in Nuremberg a few weeks later. To be honest, I could understand Sylvester Stallone’s German much better than his injured face, Hell’s Kitchen and suburban Philly mishmash. He has a very sophisticated German accent. It’s also a little bit higher.
Just glad to hear about someone else who experienced the same thing as I did. 👍

My uncle, actor Kurt Grayson was in The Octagon, playing "Doggo" the leader of the mercenary camp. Kurt said Chuck was very nice as is his brother.
As a teenager competing for the Texas State Martial Arts tournament, I paid to spar with Norris for about 30 seconds. He had the most powerful side kick I ever encountered. I also sparred with Superfoot Wallace and his front Roundhouse kick starting low then going high was beyond fast. Those two are just incredible Martial Artists.
Legend has it this was the only time Chuch felt some doubt!! The power of the mullet was strong with this one.
That must be why he missed the first kick.
