That was a very *schewpid* question.
If you don't get it:
It appears that the park appears to siblings in a shared dream. It implies that 1 sibling probably wished to be an only child and makes the other get on the ride.
The one that gets on the ride is forgotten and becomes one of the laughing trees (hence it had my face, siblings look alike and all).
The only evidence that this happened is that each surviving child lives in a house with a room they assume has always been abandoned and used for storage, but going inside they will find a recording on a tape of the last interaction between the siblings. That room was their siblings room.
The surviving sibling and everyone who knew the one left in the park completely forget them, barring the sense in the surviving sibling of extreme guilt, guilt that they got their wish.

But how did the girl survive if the boy knew what the ride did?
And how come she didn’t know her own brother when she was in the dream did he just get remorseful and decided to sacrifice himself?
@Suck ya mum XD She probably didn't remember him because this was a nightmare base on the initial event, her brother was taken but still appeared in the sister's dreams she just couldn't remember him, it's more trauma and subconscious mixed than an actual event.
Also the kids that got in the carousel were probably forced to get on and didn't have a choice in the matter, it might have been more sad acceptance then sacrifice

@@rickyheath7607 I think the reason is to kind of grant a wish for children who wanted to be an only child so they could get all the attention. Their wish is granted but they live the rest of their lives haunted by that wish and are consumed with guilt.

Actually suggesting the article from the wiki the dream afects people raised as only child BUT the first dream allways happens to siblings so technically its reversed, you are only safe when you are born as only child.

For those who don't get it:
The carousel or "trees" abduct pair of siblings then afterwards, an effect somehow makes the other sibling gets forgotten by whoever they knew. That's why the woman was confused why she was hugging the boy, even though she didn't know who he was.

my theory is it takes siblings from children. Somehow one of them, likely the older one knows to get on the carousel, erasing their existence and becoming trapped in the dream in exchange for their sibling. Their sibling's face is then placed on a tree, and the sibling trapped in the dream rides the carousel, with the face of their lost sibling smiling and laughing at them forever

My theory is that the trees or the kids accompanying individuals who had the dream were siblings that died. That would explain why a tree had “Rupert”s face, why the older boy hugged the crying girl, and why Gustav asked the subject if he was always an only child.
Yeah, he said he hadn’t since they say the park isn’t real. Like “I mean not really but also yes.” And so he knows what it is like. He lied so that he could retain this job and try to understand more.

To be fair, it was a fairly stupid question. It's likely the 05 council chose people who *didn't* have the nightmare to conduct the interview.
