    Pretty pumped! I’ll need to get a mini motor to go along with my RF and plus now 😊

    Great update, the improved response is a game changer. Since this update I'm also using the iris motor in encoder mode. One remark on this however: if you put the iris motor on the operators side, after calibrating a new lens, the iris will be in its widest position. But if you put it on the camera right side (or upside down on the operators side) the iris will always be closed after calibration, whatever you try in the motor and control settings. It would be nice to have a preset value after calibration, so the operator can find the new lens at a desired value, or at least open.

      Hey, thanks for the suggestion, we'll put default iris position on the feedback list!

    Looking forward to trying out the improved response time motors, that update seems pretty cool. But there's one thing I don't get about the new Encoder Mode. How is this different to simply switching off the motor control from the handset in the old firmware? Didn't we already get lens data in the handset and on the camera?
    Also, what happened to the BUD-3 and MAP-4? Really looking forward to what those new plates offer

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem +1

      Hey Matthew. Yes, it was sometimes possible to do this with earlier versions, as you mention. It depended on the motor controller you were using and would sometimes require you to unplug and replug the LBUS cable to get it to work. The new mode is now fully supported and nice as nice blue indicator light so that the motors aren't flashing as if something is wrong while you're encoding. - Sean

      @@ARRIChannel Thanks for clarifying Sean. It'll definitely help having a blue light instead of the flashing lights, as you say. Anything that helps the system works more smoothly is always greatly appreciated :)

    Hi Sean, Thank you so much for this update. Great to see the motors being more responsive and the encoder feature I've been waiting for since putting my LDE-1 to sleep together with UMC-4 after upgrading to cforce motors.
    Question: will the upgraded responsiveness of the cforce mini motors still work if coming through a cforce mini RF motor? (e.g. if on a 3rd party camera)

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem +1

      Hey Henrik, yes, the responsiveness improvements are active regardless of which system you are using it with, as it's just an update to how the motor processes the input signal. You're good to go!

    • @HenrikLyngbo
      @HenrikLyngbo Před rokem

      Question 2: After playing around with the encoder feature it seems that everytime I change a lens I have to go in to the Control menu, switch on the iris motor, calibrate it, go back in to Control menu to switch the iris motor off again for encoder to work. That's a lot of additional steps to do when changing lenses. Is there a way to make this easier? Even a manual calibration would work better/quicker (though as it is now, manuel calibration also needs the handset to control the motor).

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem +2

      It depends on what device you're using as your motor controller, but if you are using a RIA-1, cforce mini RF or ALEXA 35, pressing CAL > ALL after a lens change will also calibrate motors that are in encoder mode. On the ALEXA Mini or ALEXA Mini LF you currently have to regain control, as you mention, but we are looking into ways to avoid that process. Calibrating with the button on the motor would work as well.

  • @michaelhofman323
    @michaelhofman323 Před rokem

    Oooh exciting! No more pulling Iris motors. Will this work with an RF motor as the host?
    Looking forward to seeing an LCUB update as well! 👀

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem +1

      Hey Michael, yes it will! The cforce mini RF motor doesn't support Encoder Mode (yet) but any cforce mini motor connected to it will be able to use that mode.

      Is the increased response time of the CForce motors seen when using the CPro and CPro Plus hand units?
      Is encoded more available for CMotion users or will this require a hand unit firmware change?
      Thanks!

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem +1

      @@aaronhaesler1 the response time improvements should immediately benefit CPro users. As for Encoder Mode, it may require a firmware update, best to contact cMotion directly.

    I’ve been using my cforce plus as an encoder since having an bug issue with iris scale on the hi-5 displaying fully closed down. Am I not supposed to be able to do that? Am I doing damage to my cforce plus?

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem

      Hey Alex, it's not bad for the cforce plus to be manually moved, it's just quite difficult to do as you've no doubt discovered. The bug you're referring to should have been fixed in SUP 2.0 for Hi-5, please feel free to email service@arri.de if you're still experiencing issues.

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem

    Unsure if bug or intended:
    When I disable the axis, the motor acts like it wants to be calibrated again via motor to turn blue and enable encoder mode.
    Arri?

    • @ARRIChannel
      @ARRIChannel  Před rokem

      Hi Christian. When you disconnect a control input, the motor will flash red and blue to indicate that there is no hand unit controlling that motor. From that point, you can move the lens barrel/motor manually to start encoder mode. It does not require a separate calibration to enter encoder mode.
